well, i was off for 2days and so many pages written... i hope i didn't missed anything :thumb:
to the meditation stuff: about 3years ago i meditated a lot. the best thing to start with is when you take about 30mins time before you fall asleep and concentrate on your breath... clear your mind, try to be in harmony with your body and soul/mind and count your breathes 1...2....3...4... [...] ...10. when you reach 10 you start with 1 again. It isn't that easy!! you always got redirect by another thoughts.... its really hard to concentrate only(!) on counting your breath. After some weeks you will be good enough to concentrate only on your breath; Afterwards (once again some weeks later) you will be able to clear your mind, without the help of 'concentrating on your breaths' :thumb: @Feign: do not double-post please |
sometimes i have one of these kind of dreams or whatever you call it..i'm totally aware but i cant move, i dont even know if i'm breathing or not. i would be falling into darkness and i hear wierd tribal drum music in the background.. i actualy had this dreams a couple of times during a period of my life ( i cant remember anything special during that period ). the first time i had the dream, i was terrified and prayed to God constantly in my mind until i woke up..i tried to not to be afraid and continue falling the next time i had this kind of dreams because i was curious what would happen.i think i fell asleep in the end
Invalid Letter Dept. is definitely the best song they ever wrote.
To be honest, I am really not a fan of that song. One of the worst off Relationship of Command IMO to be honest. Darkness of Greed=teh secks |
This is worth a double post I think... and I want some MAJOR REP for this.
hxxp://s6.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=245M7QYI7M7YB1F03LPA4K1Y0N OK Show Bootleg. 700 mbs. Whoever downloads owes me big time. :p
I don't have a lot to give, but what would you like in return? I'm serious, by the way. This must have took a lot of your time, and I want to repay the favor. |

No, you should have used a downlaoding program like YSI-Get to make sure you can resume your download. |
I just finished watching Part I. I'm very impressed by it. I can't wait to check out Part II (hopefully someone uploads that one too). I love how much ambience they create with the music. The way Stinkfist was extended was awesome. The version of Schism is even better. That intro is great. Wow, very good quality bootleg.

@Feign: do not double-post please
sorry bro, its just that the two posts were about two completely different topics. i will try n avoid it as much as i can though. do you guys know the tool song "Merbaka"? aparently its egyptology and more ironically mentioned in a book called "Ægypt". im guessing thats where maynard got the blue prints for Ænema. anyways, back to merbaka. its a form of early egyption meditation which helps one align his Mind (Mer*), Body(Ba*) & Soul (Ka*). *(In Egyption). in some of tool's concerts you can often see maynard sitting on the floor cross legged with both eyes closed while the rest of the band gives birth to a screaming sound. cheers, Feign. |

It even adorns their practice hall, for lack of a better term. and i thought everyone knew it wasnt about heroine  |
firstly, merbaka merkaba--- same sh i t.
secondly, EVERYONE i've seen in this forum has related H. with heroin. cheers, feign.
well, with that being said, i think those are the same people that think stinkfist is about anal/**** fisting... but thats been done to death already  |
secondly, EVERYONE i've seen in this forum has related H. with heroin.
I dont relate his lyrics to anything, cause i could give a shit less what he says. I only listen to tool for the music.

ha. that's funny. Tool really knows how to make people argue about useless sh!t.

If you really dissect/examine any arguement, you'll find this to be true. |
I dont relate his lyrics to anything, cause i could give a shit less what he says. I only listen to tool for the music.
You and me both. :chug: |
I usually like to go beyond the song and see the internal message, but listening for the music is the way to go!
|
wow u r from india? r u indian?
yes, i am from india and yes, i am indian. and stink fist is not about anal fisting my friends. it uses the metaphor of fist ****ing as compared to breaking through, or passing into something, being taken over by something. cheers, feign. p.s- i agree, tool does know how to make people argue about useless ****, but then again "On a long enough timeline, everything is pointless" - Maynard James of Tool. |
Yah, but the hidden meanings in the songs make it even more worth while to listen to. The hidden messages Tool tend to put in the songs are very interesting as it gives us a taste of what their views on common subjects are. I like that.
|
yes, i am from india and yes, i am indian.
Ænima is possibly the best tool album indeed. But the thing you've gotta love about tool is their exploration with albums. Each album focuses on a specific theme and the songs of that album just simply break down those themes making it more explanatory; eg: Opiate- "Question Authority" or Lateralus- "Reconciliation/Thinking outside the lines (Lateral thinking)". Through Tool's music we get a different perspective about life as a whole. Tool is definately one of the best bands to ever exist as it gives science, psycology, philosophy a sound.
Feign.
i've mentioned it before, and i just want to say it again. |
You know, I'm watching this video of Maynard interviews, and I'm not exactly sure what he means by something. He says that he's only 1/4th of the importance of the band and I agree with that. He seems to have a problem with people looking at the lyrics, though. What I mean is, he says every song has a type of emotion and the lyrics are just there to reinforce that idea, and that they aren't that important. What I don't get is how he couldn't consider the lyrics as important as the rest of the music. When I hear their songs, it's the lyrics that are basically narrating the emotion and the music (which includes the vocal melodies) is acting out the emotion, so isn't it just as important? Without the lyrics, I might get a completely different vibe from a song. I probably just misinterpreted what he said.
|
He is saying there is 4 people in the band, he is just one of the 4. And just as important as danny, adam or justin.
