Ryan Adams - Cold Roses

still awesome. Reminds me of a more plaintive Calexico or something. I can't even listen to the new Trail of Dead because this keeps distracting me.

Glitterati 10-05-2006 04:41 PM

Franz Ferdinand - S/T

Possibly my favorite modern rock band as of this very second.

Of course, the album can't compare with seeing them live, which was amazing.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - The Platinum & Gold Collection
I haven't listened to them in forever. My birthday is coming up.....

metalicajaymz 10-05-2006 04:46 PM

I would never ask you, because Trail of Dead is one of the best bands currently operating!

even Worlds Apart was awesome despite how much crap it got for not being an exact Source Tags replica.

Little Man being Erased 10-05-2006 04:54 PM

Worlds Apart was a real grower. I love it. Maybe as much as Source Tags and Codes. I really want to hear the new album but I'm not sure if I should buy it. Maybe a download is required.

Honeycut - The Day I Turned to Glass

If you were one of those pasty trip-hop kids who was all like, "wtf Shadow!" this might appeal. Really cool mellow alt soul/pop/electronic stuff from his imprint. Big Shuggie Otis influence, really ****ing good arrangments, white boy melodicism filtered through some pretty nice grooves. Me likey.

Little Man being Erased 10-05-2006 05:18 PM

Deerhoof - Apple O'

Not sure what to think of this yet. The high-pitched girl vocals kind of took me by surprise, but I got used to it. I expected it to be more punk-y than it was too.
And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead - Source Tags & Codes

First listen. I like the drums.
yeah the drums are crazy, especially those machine-gun snare bursts in "How Near How Far" and the tuned tom hits in the intro to "Heart In the Hand of the Matter."

and what's really cool is that both the main songwriters switch drums whenever the other is playing guitar/singing

Little Man being Erased 10-05-2006 05:41 PM

Yeah it's pretty cool to see them do it live.

asymm 10-05-2006 05:54 PM

Grizzly Bear - Yellow House

I first listened to this as a leak in August - then I preordered it on vinyl. Then the vinyl was delayed so I'm just listening to it again, one month later, today. Gorgeous sleeve/record.

The Embarrassment - Heyday

might put Lupe Fiasco on later, depending.

metalicajaymz 10-05-2006 07:46 PM

I was listening to Heyday today too. Good stuff. "Patio Set" is pretty tight.

anticipatious_phoenix 10-06-2006 04:54 PM

I have been all over Lovage, Tomahawk, Lords of Acid and Zodiac Mindwarp.

I love Mike Patton.

Lovage-Book of the Month, Sex (I'm A)
Tomahawk-Birdsong, Rape This Day

Kind of like Rob Zombie before there was a Rob Zombie.

Zodiac Mindwarp-Backseat Education

I could do it to this song.

Lords of Acid-I Sit On Acid
