kirk actually didnt have much to do with the solos on KEA, it was mostly Daves and james' work. however he did get lessons from joe satriani after KEAs release and this is partly where he got his style from.
btw.......anyone heard any hammett-era Exodus?
That would make sence, no offence to any megadeth fans in here but i think kirks post-KEA solo;s are way more complex then Dave/James material.

Sandtrap 04-06-2005 11:21 AM

does anyone know a dvd were I can get a whole lot of 80s footage...I really wanna dvd but I really dont want to have to watch the new ****. Is Cliff em' all a good buy for old footage?

fenderbender89 04-06-2005 11:23 AM

Can someone tell me when Metallica is going to play for their 2005 tour.

Josh 04-06-2005 12:01 PM

so did Mustaine play on the actual recordings for KEA, or did Hammett?

btoto 04-06-2005 12:32 PM

Where can I hear Exodus era Hammett? I'd really like to have some early bootlegs. Because he didn't record with them. If I'm not wrong Bonded By Blood came out in 1985.

DisposableHeroes 04-06-2005 12:49 PM

To btoto: If you wanna hear some, add me on MSN and i'll send you some live bootlegs

Are they with Kirk on guitar???

DisposableHeroes 04-06-2005 01:09 PM

Kirk's on guitar, i downloaded from one of those yousendit thingums so i doubt it will still be available. Give me your e-mail and i'll send them via e-mail, they're in a folder

Yes, the album will probably come out around March Next year... But if they could they may try and release it for christmas

Kyle 04-06-2005 02:05 PM
Kirk
Except Mustaine is on the first two songs...i think.
to sandtrap - If you buy Cunning Stunts DVD it has alot of the old stuff except it does have about 3 songs off load/re-load if i remember: fuel, aint my bitch. hero of the day. Towards the end they do a Ride the lightening / Kill 'em all medly though which is very very cool and consists of about 5 songs.

lilmetallica 04-06-2005 02:43 PM

james was the only singer right

Joe 04-06-2005 02:45 PM
Kirk
uh huh...

i'm pretty sure the album came out before dave was kicked out. dave did most of that album

and no tour this year, or at least i seriously doubt it. they're in studios

Joe 04-06-2005 02:45 PM
james was the only singer right
except on a few songs during Live Sh*t, yes he was/is

Kyle 04-06-2005 02:47 PM
james was the only singer right
yup.
But Kirk did every song on Kill 'em all except the first two.im pretty sure. but Dave wrote i all, ahh i dont even know myself anymore

lilmetallica 04-06-2005 02:48 PM

Mister_Che 04-06-2005 02:49 PM

It wont. None of their albums have sucked, so i doubt this will

Kyle 04-06-2005 02:55 PM

yeah it definately won't suck, but i am very interested to where it is gona go?
It wont be like St Anger because i doubt very much that they would do another non-stop aggressive record. They wont go back to their old style because it will look like they are going backwords or giving in. I do hope Kirk puts a bit of effort into this one though, He barely made any worthwhile contributions musicallt to St Anger

this is true but i meant i hope its better than St. Anger just wosrded it wrong sorry

I like st. anger more than load/reload. I dont really care what metallica releases, like he said all of their albums have been great. Some better than the others obviously. They can't have every single album be as great as each other. It would be pretty stupid that way.

DisposableHeroes 04-06-2005 03:27 PM

I reckon Rob will bring a certain groove to the band, but hopefully not overdo it too much

Yes, I do agree, Just look how much Metallica's style has changed with the different Bassists, Cliff Days.... Jason Days... And Bob Rock Days, i am sure the rob days will be pretty awesome :D

what do you mean kirk didnt have much to do with it? he co-wrote every song? he had a few solos but lars and kirk didnt like them with the drop C tuning.

I have a feeling Rob dislikes the st. anger stuff, but i remember him saying him in an interview its gonna be heavy (then again most of em are)

lilmetallica 04-06-2005 04:11 PM

what

PepsiMetal 04-06-2005 04:21 PM
what do you mean kirk didnt have much to do with it? he co-wrote every song? he had a few solos but lars and kirk didnt like them with the drop C tuning.
Im pretty sure it had nothing to do with the tuning. I remember on SKOM lars said solos were classic and he wanted something new. Kirk actually wanted solos on the album.

nope, it was definately because of the tuning. kirk said it himself in an interview.

lilmetallica 04-06-2005 05:01 PM
