My parents are both musicians, and my grandparents on my mom's side are renowned classical musicians.
By the way, my avatar is Morton Subotnick. After hearing my album, my grandfather recommended I give his most famous piece Silver Apples of the Moon a listen, and it's really great. |
What did your grandfather think of your album?
|
I'm the only musician/avid music listener in my entire family pretty much. I do have one cousin who plays the guitar, though.

I was going to ask, but I didn't for fear that I might lose my indie cred. |
What did your grandfather think of your album?
He likes most of it. He outlined his favorites, and also called 20-23 "not so great, a bit formulaic." His favorite was "Salivary Foam," which he decided is in 8/4 grouped 3/3/2. I had always thought of it in 4/4, so this was pretty interesting. |
That's cool. I love the first track on your album. It's so great.

Zappa has an album out!??? |
I do. I can link you if you hop on AIM.
|
I'm listening to it

So.. Between The Buried and Me, The Dillinger Escape Plan and HORSE the band are playing in Toronto. I'm happy.
|

Oh man. If any of you guys meet them, tell them that I really want them to come to Australia. More than any other band, except for EITS. |

I'd lose what little "indie" cred I had left to see The Dillinger Escape Plan live. Those guys own. |
I was going to see HORSE but it fell through :/
|
I'm moreso going to see the other two bands. I never really got into HORSE much.
|
Hmm, if I can come up with the cash I'll look into getting a ticket for that. I saw BTBAM 2 years ago and they were so good. I think it's time to see them again, expecially with opening bands like that.
|
It's an amazing line up. I myself haven't seen any of the three bands live yet.
|
So are you from Toronto? I live in Oakville.
|

They have new songs now too. |

Meh. Their first album is still my favourite. |
Their S/T?

I can't decide. Silent Circus has the best clean parts though.

Penn State took a shit on Illinois this evening.

I only had enough to buy one cd and there were so many
Joy Division - Closer X - Wild Gift Gang of Four - Return the Gift Frank Zappa - Absolutely Free I went with Joy Division. |
I don't understand the appeal of Joy Division, I couldn't get into them at all.

I like all those bands, heard all but that new Gang of Four. You gotta hand it to Zappa in this case, though. Absolutely Free is a really top-shelf release in his catalog, which makes it one of the best albums out there. |
