I still like Emperor, probably because I've listened to them for so long and am familiar with mst their songs. They always had a good edge to their guitar work (post Wrath of the Tyrant), though post Anthems albums lack atmosphere. Their cover versions are usually pretty good, but the originals are, as said, better.

I don't see what's so great about the demo. I couldn't even get through the whole half hour in one listen. The EP's I mentioned that came after are much, much better.

Yeah, the Emperor demo has really annoying vocals. Too much reverb.

Sombres Forets' vocals are really good. The album does have some weaker moments, but it's still a good listen occasionally. I'm looking foward to the new album which is supposed to be out sometime this month.

i bought IX after all the rest and it is the worst of the bunch. i dont consider it awful though.

Emperor sound cheesy in some way.

The later stuff definitely has some cheesy elements to be sure, the weird clean singing is always a bit odd.

Prometheus is good, but nowhere close to bm.

Off course not, it's pretty much just experimental metal that has a harsh quality to it at times.

Only thing I don't like about his solo album is the production. Nothing wrong with clean production, but the production on The Adversary sounds, I dunno, too sterile
