i'm gonna have to listen to it again to see exactly what you mean, but i can kind of see it.
I like Misery Index. I gotta represent the MD death metal bands, you know.

Dying Fetus and Covenance are awesome as well.
Never listened to Covenance. Are they slammy like 'Fetus and misery index?

LifeInABox 07-22-2007 04:08 PM

MI is Grind.

I dunno about slammy, but Covenance is a little bit like old Dying Fetus in that one of the guys was in DF.

masscows 07-22-2007 04:12 PM

they kind of seem like what would come out if dying fetus had a baby with assuck. MI's first album reminds me of brutal truth alot, so that one is definitely more grind-oriented, but discordia has alot of other things going on in it.

OHH, I remember now. It's the one with Vince Matthews on vocals right? That middle-heighted broad shouldered guy who always wears a hat, right?

Matthews used to be their vocalist, but this guy i know Eric is now. They have a bunch of ex-DF, MI and Severed Head guys in their lineup.

masscows 07-22-2007 04:19 PM

oh, cool. I'll check them out soon.

Well, they are named after an Assuck album, so I can see the influence.

you can't hear it?

LifeInABox 07-22-2007 04:24 PM

Yes, I can hear it too. That's what I meant.

TojesDolan 07-22-2007 04:27 PM

Dying Fetus tries too hard.

LifeInABox 07-22-2007 04:29 PM

What happened to last night's avatar, Tojes? I liked that one.

Charizard 07-22-2007 04:31 PM

Saved in my computer.

I like the analog, obscure music I have now.

LifeInABox 07-22-2007 04:34 PM

Oh. Who was that anyway?

Nostalgia 07-22-2007 04:35 PM

You need better cassettes in your avatar to be honest.

Dimmu Burger 07-22-2007 04:39 PM
Dying Fetus tries too hard.
Tries too hard to do what? Be really freakin good?

Charizard 07-22-2007 04:42 PM

They try to hard to be brutal or whatever it is they're going for, and just come off as bland and forced sounding.

RiceMonster 07-22-2007 04:44 PM
Tries too hard to do what? Be really freakin good?
Well if they're trying to be good, they're really not doing very well.
You need better cassettes in your avatar to be honest.
Give them a listen and you'll hail my feet for carrying such a magnificent taste in music, unfit for the imbeciles in this thread to understand, alas their ignorance on the music I listen to and their incessant, vaginal reprimands.

Dimmu Burger 07-22-2007 04:45 PM
They try to hard to be brutal or whatever it is they're going for, and just come off as bland and forced sounding.
I'll have to give them another listen to see what you mean.
They try to hard to be brutal or whatever it is they're going for, and just come off as bland and forced sounding.
bland I can understand, especially destroy the opposition which seems like their most hardcore-oriented release to date. Give their latest, 'war of attrition' a fair listen-it's much more death metal oriented and is actually somewhat brutal instead of just being "forced" or whatever.

Charizard 07-22-2007 05:01 PM

Dying Fetus + hardcore oriented

Yeah I have Destroy The Opposition, I'll have to check out the new one.

Dying Fetus + hardcore oriented
yeah I don't really see that either.

rattlehead42147 07-22-2007 05:02 PM
Misery Index is okay. Generic grind-y death with clicky drums.
not to be a dick tyler but it seems that every single band somebody throws out you usually have something negative to say. what DM bands do you like?

masscows 07-22-2007 05:04 PM

slam riffs and breakdowns.

Listen to the intro of 'praise the lord'. If you've ever listened to hardcore before, that should definitely echo it to you. There are riffs like that throughout the entire album.

Totenkrieg 07-22-2007 05:04 PM

whats wrong with not liking things?

I'll give that a listen.
whats wrong with not liking things?
There is not liking things, which is ok and then there is not liking prettymuch everything, which gets old after hearing it from a good bunch of you.

Totenkrieg 07-22-2007 05:07 PM

thats a pretty stupid statement. there is no problem with disliking most of the garbage that comes up in this thread.

Tyler 07-22-2007 05:07 PM

I like plenty.

Stoic 07-22-2007 05:08 PM
whats wrong with not liking things?
Nothing wrong unless you keep bashing the 99% of the bands people mention. But this is definitely not the case with Tyler. He's strict with music and he gives reasons.

Charizard 07-22-2007 05:09 PM
slam riffs and breakdowns.
Have nothing to do with hardcore, here:

Nope. That whole album sucks, and sounds nothing like hardcore.

that sounds like oldschool hardcore. Ever listen to beatdown hardcore? or toughguy hardcore? that's what alot of fetus' riffs sound like.

Charizard 07-22-2007 05:13 PM

Goddamn, no. Dying Fetus is nowhere close to hardcore, I'm sorry.

masscows 07-22-2007 05:14 PM

nakjsdnakjsnkajdfsndsa listen to east coast (mostly new york, boston and DC) hardcore. That's the stuff that influenced Fetus, along with of course, early death metal and thrash bands.

Dimmu Burger 07-22-2007 05:18 PM

I'm not gonna even get involved in this one, which is odd for me lol.

Tyler 07-22-2007 05:18 PM

I dont know why Mappy is wasting his time with this guy
