I really want to see Pan's Labyrinth.
If there's a free link of some kind i'll take a look.
I've been trying to get one off BitTorrent but I haven't found one that works yet. :( |
I saw it last night at a theater by my house.
One sec I'll edit in the link for the Zebulon Pike. http://www.sendspace.com/file/yhtkr4 Zebulon Pike is something like Pelican meets The ****ing Champs. They're a heavy instrumental stoner/math rock band, with two guitarists who are all about the insane harmonies. The drummer and bassist get a workout too, what with the complex, dynamic song structures this band navigates. From ultra-sludgy riff attacks to mellow and pretty (even a bit jazzy) breakdowns, the melodic doom calculus of Zebulon Pike proceeds at a generally slow pace (nine or twelve minute long songs are the norm), interspersed with bursts of note-manic playing. You'll definitely hear the band's '70s influences of Wishbone Ash and Black Sabbath, translated into a modern instrumental post-rock realm. The band also goes beyond metal and prog to cite classical composers like Bela Bartok and Avro Part as inspirations to their "slow motion apocalypse". Mighty, mythic instrumental metal indeed. FYI Zebulon Pike takes their name from an early American explorer, the same guy for whom Pike's Peak is named. |
Thanks a lot man! I'd say my vocals are the worst part haha
And that pic is classic  Shame is, Aaron said it'd be Anathema/MDB/Cradle of Filth :(:(
Well, that would be the first concert where the support outweighs the headliner that I'd go see. |
Really? If that ends up happening that would awesome. I can't stand Cradle of Filth whatsoever, but to see MDB and Anathema together would just be amazing! Did he say which band would be headlining? Unfortunately it would most likely be COF but I'm hoping it isn't.
I listed them in the order he said: Anathema opening, MDB as support, and COF headlining. :( Who knows if it's actually going to happen though. @Mike: Agreed. |
What's with all of the hate for CoF. I knew their new album sucks, but if they play anything from any of there earlier albums it'd be worth a show. Anathema, even though no longer playing doom metal, still produces good doomy rock. It's not bad.
|
I think CoF's first album is alright. But anything after that...no thanks.
|
I think CoF's first album is alright. But anything after that...no thanks.
Agreed. I'd still go to that tour though...and leave after MDB. |
MDB is awesome. Fav song/album?
|
Mmm... I like everything but Thornography and Cruelty And The Beast. I've been listening to Cruelty lately however and found that I am gaining a bit of a taste for it.
|
My favorite song is The Raven And The Rose. I can't remember the name of the album it's on, but that's my favorite album of their's.
|
This Zebulon Pike is sweet, I really hope I can see them at Doom or Be Doomed.
|
Contrary to popular likes, I like 34.788%... Complete quite a bit.
|
Contrary to popular likes, I like 34.788%... Complete quite a bit.
Everyone told me that that album is so bad that I never even bothered to download anything from it. |
Hmm, my favorite MDB albums would probably have to be The Dreadful Hours and As The Flower Withers, although I really like everything they've done so it's hard to limit it to just one or two favorites. I love the heavy, aggressive, raw sound on ATFW, and TDH was my introduction to doom and I just love every song on that album. I even liked 34.788% Complete, it's one of my least favorite MDB albums but I still think it's fairly good and not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.
|
Yeah, the Dreaful Hours! That's my favorite MDB album.
|
My favorite albums are Like Gods of the Sun and A Line of Deathless Kings. Favorite songs include The Raven and the Rose, For You, To Remain Tombless, L'amour Detruit, and every other song they've done. :p
|
Try listening to some 34.788% Complete and look past the fact that it's MDB. Take it in just as a stand alone CD, and some great appreciation can be taken from it.
|
I downloaded that Zebulon Pike album
lovin it its great stuff!! thanks to who uploaded it although sometimes it does something bizarre and unexpected, its still very powerful music, no vocals make for such a hypnotic vibe |
So...
The replacement for Messiah is good old Mr. Rob Lowe from Solitude Aeturnus. :):) They couldn't have made a better pick. On a related note, I will be seeing SA at the Chicago Powerfest on April 20. |
My favorite album of theirs is probably Like Gods Of The Sun. Favorite song? Maybe The Scarlet Garden, even though the rest of that album is TERRIBLE.
|

Turn Loose the Swans is an awesome album, but I cannot stand Trinity.
|

The only My Dying Bride album that I've ever heard is their first one, As the Flower Withers. Where should I go from there?
|
Ya rly.
Now I can hold my breath that the headliner for Chicago Powerfest will be Candlemass, with Rob doing double duty. *expects to pass out before this happens* MDB albums: I'd say get Turn Loose the Swans, The Angel and the Dark River, Like Gods of the Sun, and A Line of Deathless Kings next. |
I just got that Sunn0)) and Boris album. I haven't listened to it yet.
|
The Sunn/Boris album is really good.
Great ambience. You can clrealy hear which track is mor e Sunn like and which is more Boris like. But realy great stuff. I saw the album today, but it was too expensive. I bought the Spiritual Beggars - Demons 2 cd for €11,50. :) |
I just got that Sunn0)) and Boris album. I haven't listened to it yet.
I was browsing through a cd store today and had that album in my hand. Didn't buy it though, might later. I really don't like the Sunn0)) bits but Boris makes more than up for that. |
I don't really like Sunn much but Boris are great.
I need to listen to more drone. |
I have the same. A friend of mine once started calling Sunn0)) background noise and I have to agree with him. I only have Pink by Boris and thats from what I heard not how they usually sound. Pink is great though.
|
I actually really like a lot of Sunn 0))) stuff. Black One and Flight of the Behemoth, to be specific. I never dare call it music, though.
And Boris is great. Pink and Heavy Rocks are both awesome albums. Amplifier Worship, too. |
I have the same. A friend of mine once started calling Sunn0)) background noise and I have to agree with him.
Don't say this man. You won't make friends :naughty: But I like it when you agree with me.... |
I love Sunn 0))).
|
I dislike Sunn O))).
|
I like Sunn O))).
I like Drone in general anyway. Very good music, but mood music certainly. Can't listen to it all day, like I can with funeral doom. np: Awesome funeral doom. :p |
Funeral >>>>>>>> Drone
|
I'm not sure which I like more.
|
I agree with pate. I don't think that it is even possible to really listen to Sunn 0))). It's got nothing to do with mood, because they don't resemble any kind of mood, not even depressing or such. Makes great background sound, but I don't get depressed, heavy or aggressive from it. Maybe a little bored.
|
Funeral >>>>>>>> Drone
Look well at this post, this man speaks the truth. Funeral doom has a more organic and emotional feel, while drone is more mechanic and devoid of emotion, it really beats any emotion out of your skull. Both are great though. |
