I never call them Nu-metal. What do you mean by 'metal is metal'?

i really think nu-metal is dying

i dont see the point in calling something nu-metal yeh its diff. from i guess the old stuff or whatever but that doesnt make it any diff. if anyone knows what i mean and what im talking about

the genres of metal have become a completely opinion based matter now, especially when the topic is the "definition of nu-metal". in my opinion, slipknot is metal, but i dont think it fits into the any of the "coventional genres" (black, death, industrial, thrash ect.) but i dont agree with the industry cramming slipknot, and any other band which may have even slight rap/ hip-hop or wateva , influences and cramming it all under a label, and the claiming "it isnt real metal"

Who said that Slipknot isn't "real metal", they are Nu-Metal, but that is a kind of metal.

i dont know what slipknot is. but my definiton of nu metal is: limp bizkit linkin park and that crap so i knock it alot with slipknot being the exception

If they were underground people would probably call them rap metal or something like that. But obviously when a band reaches success, they'll become nu-metal. That's how it is on these forums at least. lawl

On these boards, metallica has become nu-metal, and I'd be damned if St. anger sounds anything like papa roach or limp bizkit. Oh well.

Back to the thread. I've uploaded another rendition of Slipknot's Vermillion 2. This one IMO is absolutely amazing.. blows the original out of the water in its contrast, timing, mood, balance of heavy/soft verses. Definitely the best song I've heard in 2006 so far.

I'm surprised this thread hasnt finished yet, usualy everyone gets shot down after the first 10 replies, but slipknot do have SOME talent, they are nu-metal though so don't think you hardcore for listening to them, ive only really heard People=****, Volume 3 The Subliminal Versus and Joeys drum solo, but ive heard alot better, i dont mind slipknot, but theres alot better. what is sad is alot of people think they are cool just because they can switch time signatures in the middle of a song, for christ sake, METALLICA do that, and they arent even heavy.... i suggest getting onto better bands such as Soilwork, Pantera or Opeth, and if you want a laugh listen to System of a Down, they have pretty good lyrics, i think they were stoned to write most of there songs though, anyway cya

There are better bands than opeth, pantera, soad, and soilwork, so what is your point?

It is all subjective, so what you think is best, might not be same for 10 millions of other people. OK?

I dont listen to them at all really anymore. When I did my favorite songs were probably Eeyore + (sic) + Sur Facing + one more.. i cant remember the name.

i think more peple should listen to slipknot there a great band dont know why they get dissed so much

They get dissed cause lots of their fans are childish and always say slipknot are best band, joey is best drummer, mick is best guitarist, corey is best singer, etc... In reality, it's all subjective, so saying one person is best or greatest as a fact is false as that's impossible because it's subjective. And since slipknot has many fans, most people start hating the band for the fans. Same thing is with metallica, and few other bands.

They are one of the best nu metal bands..... But honestly I don't think they are a "great" band... A good listen, sometimes... Yes.... Great band, no.


They get made fun of because they have alot of really dumb fanboys/fangirls.

They refer to their fans as the larva of flies... That's lovely...

All in all.... They are enjoyable in small/medium amounts.

Yeah... I saw this just now and just wanted to comment on it. Yeah people bash on Nu-Metal and all, but it's really nothing to be bashed on. If you look up Nu-Metal, it's just a type of genre of Metal in which the bass parts are the main focus, the lyrics are usually sung in a rapping style, and the guitar isn't the main part in the songs. This is why most do not like Nu-Metal or consider it to be 'true metal' because most Nu-Metal does not involve a wide range of guitar solos or solos at all, which other Metal genres do include. So really, this genre of music shouldn't be bashed like it normally is, it is just another sense of music that should be appreciated by others. I don't know, that's just my opinion on this.
