I'm in need of some shoegaze that doesn't suck. I really like Slowdive as well as the idea of shoegaze music, but when I hear the classic bands of the genre I just think it sounds silly.
Anything similar to Slowdive? Btw, no my bloody valentine plz
one of the best and most similar bands i've come across to slowdive (who are my favourite) would be alison's halo. get their eyedazzler compilation, the songs on it are amazing. |
i love alisons halo but i dont think austin will like their vox
|
that doesn't even make sense, if he likes slowdive vocals then it's highly likely that he'll also like alison's halo vocals
|
austin u might liek mazzy star idddk
|
no not really i mean slowdives vocals are alooot better than alisons halo
|

What's some really good metal/rock with strong organic song structures? Like songs that flow well and are long but you can't predict them. Yet hold your interest the whole time.
|
Uh, what? I think you might need to be a little more specific here. All I can think of is Subterranean Masquerade's EP and LP but you're not giving me much to work with.

I would say Natsumen, but really you're not cool enough to like a good band |

Pig - The Swining it's more industrial but you could give it a try |
i know this is gonna sound very broad and varies a lot from person to person but i need some emotional (in a depressing way) stuff.
maybe indie-folk like bon iver/richard youngs/nmh. i've been listening to have a nice life a lot recently and find it quite 'depressing' (maybe not the right word) as well. |
Check out the following albums:
Grouper - Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill Twinsistermoon - The Hollow Mountain Zelienople - Ink Isengrind - Golestân Giles Corey (other project from the dude of HANL, you can download all of his stuff for free from last.fm) Afterlives - A Ticking Clock I Couldn't Stop |
alright thanks
|
Recently discovered Grouper. Good stuff.
|
Didn't know you were into that type of music, Grouper is beautiful stuff. Some of the most original Drone/ambient music I've heard.
|
Yeah, I've only recently been getting into ambient. The ambient stuff of Agalloch, Altar Of Plagues and some other black metal bands got me into it. Then I found Grouper and Tim Hecker on http://slaysfordays.blogspot.com/
Got any other recommendations in that style? |
