I need some black metal, but some that has better production if possible. Suggest bands/albums/anything.

I already listen to:

Mayhem
Darkthrone
Lykathea Aflame
Emperor
Dimmu Borgir (not real BM)
Cradle of Filth (not real BM)

Those are just some that I listen to a lot.
For the record, Lykathe's not bm. But for recommendations:

Limbonic Art
Leviathan
Early Borknagar(viking/black metal)
Bathory
Anorexia Nervosa
Immortal
Satyricon
Diabolical Masquerade

Could someone tell me some bands that sounds similar to the newer Arcturus style?

eCow 06-11-2005 04:46 PM

I would like to know some suggestions of lesser known classic rock bands (vague, i know) because I know most of the big names. Here is a list of the bands i listen to now.

.38 special
ACDC
aerosmith
Billy Joel
Blue Oyster Cult
Cream
Deep Purple
Eagles
Frank Zappa
Grateful Dead
Guns n' roses
Jimi Hendrix
Led zeppelin
Floyd
Rolling Stones
Rush
Sex Pistols
Supertramp
The Byrds
The Doobie brothers
The doors
The Moodie Blues
The Who
The yardbirds
Buffalo Springfield

I would look in this classic rock thread, but there are a thousands of pages...i figured it would be easier just to ask in here. Thanks in advance

Woodstock 06-11-2005 04:48 PM

Well, there are way too many to name off as "ones you don't listen too". But, if you do come to the CR thread, and ask what you're looking for specifically, we can help you.

As in avant-garde metal in general?

Solefald*
Peccatum
Lux Occulta*
Maudlin of the Well
The Meads of Asphodel
Emperor*
Asmegin (more like folk metal but still fairly close)
Borknagar
Diabolical Masquerade
Evergrey (more progressive than avant-garde)
Vintersorg (more progressive than avant-garde)
Windir

*later albums only

No one is really that clsoe to Arcturus and so assume that all of these have a (sort of) after them
