well, i mostly play rock, but i like my ride to have a more jazzy feel, maybe one to be crashed on a bit. i like the ride Dave Lombardo uses on his video on drummerworld.com
i think a 21" Sweet Ride would suit you madam

VTDS_xx 09-28-2005 07:54 AM

Is an 18" Pre-Used (Still in fantastic condition) A Custom Crash for 99$ good?

bobby__johnny 09-28-2005 09:28 AM

sure. make sure theres no cracks or keyholing

3_times_round 09-28-2005 12:59 PM
its heaps ignorant to not like a cymbal i've played isn't it?
Fair enough if you have tested it and didn't like it, but people have just shunned it becasue it's a Z custom.

There is no definiton of sounding good. It's personal prefernece. I know people that love this ride.

Just to say, I prefer A/K's too.

Junknut 09-28-2005 08:36 PM

Looking for 2 new crashes, I like the sound of both the Medium A custom crashes and the AAX Stage crashes as seperate cymbals, just trying to get an idea for how well these 2
would go together in a 16-18" setup or 17"-19" also any other idea's of crashes im after something that will go well for Hard rock type music, Im also after a contrast in sounds but don't want them to clash with each other either.

bobby__johnny 09-28-2005 09:16 PM

well if those two are the ones your looking at, make the AAX the bigger of the 2.

DruMMeR_BoY14 09-29-2005 01:15 AM

go for 17" and 19" sizes, I dont htink a crash like an A custom meidum would work well in a 16" or below size.

If your after some more suggestions try A custom crashes and projection crashes. Maybe some K crashes well. I'd recomend the K dark crash medium thin

ilikenoise 09-29-2005 11:25 AM

I want another ride for the left side of my kit i.e. for open handed patterns, the lighter side of my playing.

My main ride is a 21" K Heavy which is going to be the more cutting and powerful of the two.
I want a contrasting ride i.e.: light, washy. Preferably Zildjian as my local has the mostly Z's in stock.

I'll let you cymbalaholics opinionate what'd suit as I might've just missed it out.

Cheers geez.

bobby__johnny 09-29-2005 11:48 AM

a K Custom Light Ride would go nicely i think

Plan B. 09-29-2005 01:43 PM

Ooh, try the K Custom Dry Light, I'm using it as my main right now actually.

Or maybe one of those Session Gadd models.

I wouldn't recommend Projection Crashes of any sort. Mediums are better.

I am looking for a chinese cymbal with a very nasty, trashy sound. I would prefer around a 14". I'm looking for the sound that the drummer from Flaw has on that song Payback. Sabian only plz! thnx

Does it really need to be sabian? Because you can get a wuhan china on musicainsfriend.com for around $20 and they are the best trashy, nasty sound you can get for your money.

Tma20SC 09-30-2005 12:04 AM

Awsome! I'll give it a try :thumb:

MXboy 09-30-2005 12:51 AM

As long as you're living in the lower 48 states, you have a whole range of cymbals to choose from. If your local music shop is crap, then screw them and use internet sites like musiciansfriend and massmusic.

Not a fan of the projections?

gimp fest 10-01-2005 05:20 AM

right-o, i'm looking for a 20" ride that has a clear pronounced bell and is not washy,

i wash thinking:

a custom ping
k custom
aa rock

suggestions or opinions?

thanks

Aaron 10-01-2005 07:42 AM

a custom ping

DruMMeR_BoY14 10-01-2005 07:45 AM

Go for the K, it is by far the best ride I have ever had the oppurtunity to play on. I tmay be too washy for what you want but still try it out, pure sex i say!

bobby__johnny 10-01-2005 09:06 AM

AA Rock. truth is, the K doesnt even fit in there.

gimp fest 10-01-2005 09:08 AM

cheers guys, i am going to be buying it from us ebay( i'm from the uk), so do you think i should still go to the nearest shop and try them?

bobby__johnny 10-01-2005 09:11 AM

at least. if you can get a general idea of what the cymbal sounds like, then yes. the one your ordering though will of course sound different

gimp fest 10-01-2005 09:19 AM

right thanks, would there be any other rides you could suggest i try?

bobby__johnny 10-01-2005 01:13 PM

any and all rides that perk your interest

DruMMeR_BoY14 10-01-2005 06:31 PM
AA Rock. truth is, the K doesnt even fit in there.
Yeah but its still my favourite ride

nzrocker 10-02-2005 04:11 AM

Ok got a question, i'm looking for a china and a splash to go with my sweet ride, my 18" K crash ride and my 14" paiste 2002 medium hats. I'm not an effects kinda guy, i mean i'm sort of new to effects cymbals, so any suggestions? I play a lot of pop/rock and sort of emo, but I also play a ton of classic rock and a bit of alternative, so I guess i'd be looking for something pretty stock? I'd probably want a 10" splash, something able to compete with my other cymbals, and I liked the 8" paiste dimensions splash BUT theres no paiste dealer in New Zealand. I want a china that's not too obnoxious, and probably bigger than 16" but really not a lot of preference. I know I haven't been very specific but that's why i'm here, maybe you guys could help me out? thanks a lot.

DruMMeR_BoY14 10-02-2005 05:37 AM

17" K/K Custom Dark China
10" A/K splash

Chester 10-02-2005 08:46 AM

maybe 10" A splash and 18" oriental china trash

HeLLmO 10-02-2005 09:15 AM

maybe and 18'' B8 pro china, it's cheap too, but i dig it
