lmao at last post.
yeah some bands need more people live to give it more effect in a way.
i thought it was daft that GNR had loads of other people. matt sorum said when he joined he thought he was joining a bad *** rock band and theres a keyboard player and a full orchestra.

i hope sum 41 do well without him, i thought he was good player and liked al his stuff. i hope his band does well as well, it wont compared to sum41 you can just see it but i hope it does

TheBassicBassist 06-10-2006 03:34 PM

I finally performed Pieces live with some dudes, it was a pretty good show, I don't have a recording of it that is possible to post right now, so...sorry about that, and that's it

E_man 06-11-2006 08:49 AM

Its such a shame to hear daves leaving and especially since he lost interest after all killer no filler. I went and put it in the cd player the other day and I was like wo, good ****, shame the guitar works quite nice, and theres alot of interesting bass if you listen hard enough.

DJ Ducksauce 06-11-2006 09:27 PM

I can play Pieces on piano. It's really fun to play.

Did you do the electric or piano version Richard?

They need to show off Cone a bit more. He's a pretty good bassist, and the only time he's shone any was on Welcome to Hell.

Here's what we did, we had the drummer play the intro to Sugar We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy to fake people out, then our pianist came in with the piano intro, and played the piano version through the song, and after he played the piano intro our guitarists started doing their thing and then me and the drummer came in, so it was like, a special blend of both with a bonus drum intro

Bout time he got some recognition.

To me Dave just seemed like the odd one out in the band.

poo-poo-pee-pee 06-13-2006 01:30 AM

Racist!

Haha, sorry, first thing that came to mind.

I always though Dave fitted in so well. Not because of his musical interests or abilities, but coz he seemed to get on so well with the guys.
Well I guess that doesn't really matter if you don't enjoy the music you're playing...
Does this mean Deryck will be playing any solos that may appear on the upcoming album? I'd assume so. I'm actually quite interested to see what he can do.

16 Nipples 06-13-2006 11:07 AM

Dereck always wrote the solos according to him anywayz

yourstruly 06-13-2006 05:43 PM

yeah I wouldn't doubt that. Deryck is actually a pretty decent guitarist.

TheBassicBassist 06-19-2006 11:33 AM

I don't think that Deryck would have written the solos, though it looks like he has to now. Dave leaving will drastically change the way that they perform live, but they should still be absolutely amazing on studio records.

nobodyblossomsforever 06-19-2006 11:46 AM

Dave's leaving?

When did this happen?

Grohlthegreat 06-19-2006 11:59 AM

Dave...Brownsound ? I thought he left already.

nobodyblossomsforever 06-19-2006 12:05 PM

Well I sure never knew about it.

Pazz 06-19-2006 03:27 PM
Dave's leaving?

A good month and half now.

yourstruly 06-19-2006 06:22 PM

yes, we're all very bummed

TheBassicBassist 06-19-2006 08:09 PM
yes, we're all very bummed
I'm not very bummed, for some reason I really don't care that much, I'll still mosh like no one's business in their honor

2muchket! 06-21-2006 12:44 PM

Well by the sounds of what deryck has said its him that writes the solos, so if he writes 'em its likely he can play them. I wonder why then Dave did all the solos ?

nobodyblossomsforever 06-21-2006 01:21 PM

Deryck is lazy, that's why. That and he was playing rythym.

TheBassicBassist 06-21-2006 08:27 PM

Because that's what lead guitarists do. They do the lead. That should have been obvious.

Fish 06-21-2006 08:29 PM

wait so deryck writes all the solos that dave plays? no..

711 06-21-2006 08:43 PM

^ I kno rite...

bassist_for_a_band 06-21-2006 08:51 PM

Man sometimes I get pissed... Everywhere I go people are calling Sum 41 "emo" or "stupid canadians" or some BS... And it's like, have they heard anything from Chuck? some of that stuff is pretty damn sweet and takes a good bit of talent. And whether or not Dave is in the band anymore, he was one hell of a guitarist. Steve's a pretty damn good drummer, too

I just wish people would listen to more of a band's music before bashing them

711 06-21-2006 08:53 PM

Dave is leaving... this sucks.

I dont like the stuff on Chuck as much as the older stuff

Fish 06-21-2006 09:12 PM

i more familiar with chuck, it changed a lot from the earlier pop-punky stuff

nobodyblossomsforever 06-21-2006 09:24 PM

Lots of people are too fixated on complexity and hard techniques and all that, when in reality the simple stuff is actually entertaining.

I've never heard anyone refer to Sum 41 as emo, not even on the forums.

DJ Ducksauce 06-21-2006 09:51 PM

Canadians may be stupid (:p), but Sum 41 sure aren't emo. They have probably been called that due to Deryck's recent black hair and then the release of the song Pieces.

Old Sum 41 ftw.

yourstruly 06-21-2006 10:55 PM
I'm not very bummed, for some reason I really don't care that much, I'll still mosh like no one's business in their honor
I guess sarcasm doesn't come across too well in writing. I really don't care that Dave left to be honest.

TheBassicBassist 06-21-2006 10:59 PM

Well, while Sum 41 is my favorite band and have been for quite some time now, and will be for quite some time later, I only listen to the most complex music around, I'm talking stuff like Necrophagist, They Might Be Giants, Between the Buried and Me, and stuff like that, and as far as heaviness, my favorite genre is Death Metal. It's just first impressions, whatever they first thought is what they're dead set on. My first impression of metal was that I hated it with a passion, now I love it like no one's business, all thanks to Shadows Fall. Anyways...I still don't believe that Deryck wrote the solos, and nothing any of you say can make me think that it's true. He said he wrote most of the riffs, those were his exact words...riffs. And Deryck having blonde hair not only happened awhile back, but didn't make him seem emo at all.

yourstruly 06-21-2006 11:12 PM

yeah, I'm so used to emos having emo fringes and the exact same style, I don't think he's emo at all. I always thought his hair was bleached and black was his natural colour but I guess I was wrong.
