asymm 04-25-2007 11:33 PM

Since I'll be witnessing them at the Pitchfork music festival, decided to try out Fujiya & Miyagi. It's pretty damned ho-hum, unfortunately. A few nice tracks here and there, though.

metalicajaymz 04-25-2007 11:43 PM

Mats Gustafsson (The Thing),
Paal Nilssen-Love (The Thing, Atomic)
Massimo Pupillo (Zu).
Not bad at all, read a few pretty scathing reviews, but I think it just caught them a little off-guard is all. Pretty excellent moments for sure, check it out if you're into improv, noisy shit.

Sublime- Robbin' the Hood
the Frankl Project - Pirate Radio

AlienEater 04-26-2007 09:50 AM

How is that Fushitshusha album actually? I like some of the stuff Haino has done, it can be pretty cool.

Actually I'm pretty sure I have a few Fushitshusha albums somewhere, I can't remember which ones though

perriwinkle 04-26-2007 09:56 AM

i didnt like it but maybe its just not my thing. i definitely couldnt listen to it for an hour

AlienEater 04-26-2007 10:00 AM

yeah I managed to figure that out

perriwinkle 04-26-2007 10:02 AM

oh ok good

Boilermaker 04-26-2007 10:03 AM

Wipers - Over the Edge

Not as good as Is This It or Youth of America, but still pretty good. I really like Greg's guitar work on this record.
Faust - Rien
I havn't heard this, but Faust are playing near me on 8th June. I really wanna go. Is this album good?

asymm 04-26-2007 11:22 AM

listening to Yoko Ono's Yes, I'm A Witch - due to her (surprising) appearance at Pitchfork.

and to contrast, Lightning Bolt - Hypermagic Mountain

AlienEater 04-26-2007 11:23 AM

Yeah it's good, I like it. It's produced by Jim O'Rourke which is cool

Definitely go see them. I would

wtf how can you like Is This Real more than Over the Edge? OtE has the best first side ever.

Love - Forever Changes

I used to have that album, but I lost it. :(

If you have time, do you think you might be able to upload it to the list?
wtf how can you like Is This Real more than Over the Edge? OtE has the best first side ever.
I don't know, Over the Edge just doesn't do it for me. I guess I like their more poppy stuff.

Slaapkamers 04-26-2007 01:18 PM

Flipper - Generic Flipper

The Great Decay 04-26-2007 01:33 PM

Is Flipper any good?

metalicajaymz 04-26-2007 01:33 PM

Brainbombs- Obey

similar to that Flipper album. Noisy, sludgy, riffs played over and over, but the lyrics are mostly about killing people. It's decent.

Slaapkamers 04-26-2007 01:39 PM

Flipper is good

All the reviews that I've read talk about the band being slow.. but there are maybe one or two slowish songs.

Thanks 04-26-2007 02:48 PM

Charles Bukowski - Poems and Insults

pulseczar 04-26-2007 03:10 PM

Elliott Smith - New Moon

The Jungler 04-26-2007 03:12 PM

pulse, what Elliot Smith is the best? I've heard either/or and it was good, but I remember you saying it wasn't his best or something.

also Sonic Youth - Washing Machine

pulseczar 04-26-2007 03:23 PM

his best is his self-titled album, which is similar to either/or since it's mostly guitar and sparse percussion with his best songs. but if you think you'd like more fully produced, complete band, beatles-y smith, go for the album XO

Boilermaker 04-26-2007 03:44 PM

I really like Roman Candle, probibly more than his S/T, but the S/T is still really good. XO is great, and so is Figure 8 which is in the same vein. I like all of his albums.

Bukowski 04-26-2007 07:42 PM

I've heard two Elliott Smith albums and none of them was that good. It's been about a year since I listened to him, though. Maybe I'd like it more now.

I'm still digging the Voidoids and Times New Viking.

Thanks 04-26-2007 07:42 PM

I'm digging the fact that they came out with a Kaoss Pad Mini. Korg I love you.
