Beatles.

If it was who Revoloutionerised rock then it would be hendrix. but it's not.

Illmatic 02-27-2005 01:20 AM

So how does everyone feel about Face Games by The Who? It's a post-Moon album, it's a bit too synth-poppy, but it has its moments ("You Better You Bet" being one of them).

NP: The Who - You Better You Bet
Oh, it is perfectly done. Very good Country Rock album, but his voice sounds odd. Much unlike the young scratchy, and old mumbling voice.
He says that he had quit smoking when he recorded the album, but that doesn't make any sense. I've never understood why his voice sounds different.

I like Nashville Skyline, though. Maybe his most underrated album (although New Morning comes close).

clown_phobia 02-27-2005 03:04 AM

Has anyone heard the snoop dogg song where he samples the doors riders on the storm?

lunch998 02-27-2005 08:40 AM

I have Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys. No Chr. 1 for me, suckers.

^ I haven't seen you in awile

What does everyone think of the Velvet Underground's 1st album?

Broken Arrow 02-27-2005 09:59 AM
Sure.

Why doesn't Bob Dylan sound like Bob Dylan on Nashville Skyline? :(
That's my dad's only Bob Dylan album that he likes.......because he doesnt sound like himself.

I've been away with a virus.:(

I'm also reding Shakey (Neil Young biography) and Stephen Stills is being an asshole.

I'm not as into the synthy ones as their earlier stuff. I wasn't really into that whole 80's era of music, and it was kinda sad to see The Who going down that road. But the album does have some good songs.

And yea I haven't been here in a while, only because I didn't really get all the jam band stuff. Lately I've been listening to SRV, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, and some other stuff that will present me with some guitar influence. Which reminds me, I got that new guitar and amp, and I have taken pictures, I just need to upload them. I'll show you guys later.

Yeah. Ever notice how when MTV rappers (added the MTV to remain correct)need good songs they turn to rock?

Badmoon 02-27-2005 10:32 AM

Rock, who is that in your avatar.

Schyma, did you get Gris-gris?

^Relates to the rep message.

Broken Arrow 02-27-2005 10:33 AM

Yeah Stills was all about trying to be better then Neil. He'd always want to play his songs and him sing and he'd want to play lead. What a whore.

Walrus Gumboot 02-27-2005 10:36 AM
Yeah. Ever notice how when MTV rappers (added the MTV to remain correct)need good songs they turn to rock?
Yeah, like that Eminem "Lose Yourself" song w/ Dream On

It would be... interesting... to see what could be done with folk and rap. I don't think anyone has attempted it, I can sortof see why

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-27-2005 10:36 AM

What is Gris-gris???

Stills bears a striking resemblance to a Walrus

Broken Arrow 02-27-2005 10:37 AM

And P. Diidy using Kashmir.......but Jimmy Page was in that music video.:(

Dr. John album.

David Crosby looks more like a walrus.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-27-2005 10:40 AM

Then no but can I get a sample?

Well, I wouldn't take everything in that biography as for what it actually is.

I read a biography on Phish. The writer made Phish look like total arrogant assholes. Stating that no one since The Beatles were as original, or that they were basically better than the Grateful Dead.

Walrus Gumboot 02-27-2005 10:41 AM

Stills looks like the football coach from Radio.

I'll post another sample in a few minutes.

But Stills even says he did this. And everyone was saying this. And stop shutting me down.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-27-2005 10:49 AM

Some biographers can make someone look like a complete asshole which isn't always true.

Badmoon 02-27-2005 10:49 AM
But Stills even says he did this. And everyone was saying this. And stop shutting me down.
Hey, I'm just being honest. And I'm saying that that was not true. Just do not always trust everythig you read in a biography. Like Hammer of the Gods, supposably that has more lies than anyone of them.

And toughen up bitch

I like that classification. Though it puts too much emphasis on Blues.
Yeah. Ever notice how when MTV rappers (added the MTV to remain correct)need good songs they turn to rock?
Too bad Snoop's best stuff was G-Funk. Emphasis on the "Funk".

It is much more though. Ragtime, Dixieland, Psychedelia, etc
It is much more though. Ragtime, Dixieland, Psychedelia, etc
Its more blues than any of those^

Illmatic 02-27-2005 11:53 AM

And P. Diddy has had bigger hits than "Come With Me" (Mostly the stuff he did with Biggie, but still), just like how Eminem has had bigger hits than "Sing For the Moment"

Honestly, you kids are being no better than the metal faggots who whine about Lil' Jon using "Crazy Train".

Badmoon 02-27-2005 11:53 AM
Its more blues than any of those^
Definitley not. Psychedelia rules over them all on Gris-gris, and then Dixieland and Jazz really play a role in each musician in his band's playing.

I believe his backing band is named the Bonnaroo 5. I also believe the Bonnaroo festival is named after them.
