pixiesfanyo 10-02-2006 11:40 PM

metalicajaymz 10-02-2006 11:47 PM

I murders II to be quite honest. II is too dense for me.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Let Love In
The Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America
Terrific record. I was somebody who adored Separation Sunday, though, so if you weren't part of that - don't expect this one to change your mind. Nice balance of rockers/ballads, good length, always fascinating lyrical observations/stories. It'll probably grow into one of my favorites for this year.

Band sucks serious ass. I guess I understand the admiration, but wow do I just not like this band at all. I really seem to be the only one, too.

how is it? i heard they beefed up an otherwise lo-fi GBV song so I guess nacho won't be too happy >:-}

Little Man being Erased 10-03-2006 03:40 PM

So is that good or what?

edit: nevermind, just answer YD's question.

metalicajaymz 10-03-2006 03:40 PM

"Gold Heart Mountaintop Queen Directory"

Great song. I'm actually pretty intrigued by the idea of them covering it. It's only like a minute long.

Eliminator 10-03-2006 03:42 PM

Beck - The Information

Wait are you sure by "The Information" you don't mean "Beck's whole discography"?

I realize you're probably annoyed from an excuse such as this, but it took me awhile to get into them. I had to listen to Separation Sunday a few times and read through the lyrics before it really caught on. Finn's content is a really vital aspect of their records; it's what gives the band their significance and their greatness. Separation Sunday really hooked me in with the secular stories infused with Christian themes/references - it's fascinating. Boys and Girls in America isn't as thematically overt (nor a concept album), but it still has a lot of interesting things to say about youth. After only a few listens, I'm already falling for it.

metalicajaymz 10-03-2006 04:09 PM

I just don't like Bruce Springsteen bar rock is all, regardless of lyrics, and I hate his voice. Did you see them at Intonation last year? Drunk and boring.

asymm 10-03-2006 04:18 PM

Damn! Yeah, I saw them at Intonation ... but I loved it. I was really enamored with Separation Sunday at that point, their performance was one of my highlights of the festival. If you weren't familiar/or interested in the material I can imagine the performance being dull though.

So that means it's good, yes?

pixiesfanyo 10-03-2006 04:21 PM

It's okay.

The production is horrendously boring.
