So I'm really sunburnt, and I asked this girl that i've liked forever to go to grad with me and she said no and I'm glad about that for some reason.

I'm such a wimp.

br3ad_man 04-23-2006 05:16 AM

I realised last night that I'm really sick of never being able to do things that I want to do (because of school) so I decided to start recording music again. I finished a song today and half-finished a second one. I just have to change some stuff with reverb around and finish the second one and then I'll post it here if anyone is interested.

JonM 04-23-2006 09:33 AM

I got Edan's newest record when it came out, and I picked up Primitive Plus shortly thereafter, and I really like them both, so I was excited to see him live. He was okay. Unfortunately, barely anyone was there at that point, and he was bitching about it throughout the set and criticizing the crowd, which was totally lame and made the crowd, which was initially pretty supportive, much less enthusiastic. Yerba Buena rocked the house, and then Common blew me away. I did not expect him to put on a show like that.

BillCosby 04-23-2006 10:29 AM

Yeah Common kicks ass live.

ATM 04-23-2006 10:54 AM

Ah, that's too bad about Edan. I would think he would be good.

I can't wait to see Common at Bonnaroo.

Anyway, Eagles of Death Metal were amazing last night.

Meh, I thought they were just decent. Nothing really amazing, just fun. Though I thought it was great how they dedicated every song to the ladies.
Ah, that's too bad about Edan. I would think he would be good.
From a technical standpoint, he was. It was just that he gave the crowd reactions "a C minus," even though they were totally proportionate to his performances, and that he busted out a kazoo and acoustic guitar and played silly cartoon music to patronize us when, I assume, the crowd wasn't hip hop enough for him. He was apparently a total diva. My buddy Sam, who was working hospitality for the weekend, said that Edan requested nicer turntables than Common's DJ had, and Common's DJ was one of the best I've ever seen.

I saw them in a really great venue, where it was tiny and everyone was jumping around.

That's probably why it was so fun.

Oh man, that sounds horrible.

Sounds like somebody needs an ego check.

Glitterati 04-23-2006 04:10 PM

I just finished a 10k walk for cancer all around Vancouver. Go me.

Pikester, if you read this, get on MSN some time in this week please.

Heh, I was at a super good venue too, really small. I was about 20 feet away from the stage. I guess its not my type of music.

Zmev 04-23-2006 07:35 PM

My fake real band is so annoying.

My real fake band is hella cool though.

br3ad_man 04-24-2006 12:37 AM

Yay, I get tomorrow off school. Hooray for Australia and our ridiculous amount of public holidays.

JonM 04-24-2006 10:36 AM

I'm SO EXCITED FOR GNARLS BARKLEY!!!

ATM 04-24-2006 10:36 AM

Oh shi

Are they playing at your school?

I just got my Roo ticket :-D

JonM 04-24-2006 10:43 AM

Haha, I wish. I'm just excited about the album after reading the Pitchfork interview.

I am still so devastated about missing Roo.

The Great Decay 04-24-2006 01:30 PM

There is a battle of the bands at my school on Friday and we actually have some decent bands playing from around here.

BillCosby 04-24-2006 03:10 PM

You can stream the Gnarls album on myspace. It's pretty tight, I'd say.

Other way around.

Both of them have a show in May

ATM 04-24-2006 08:17 PM

Jon, I can send you the Gnarls Barkley if you want it.

Robert Crumb 04-24-2006 09:44 PM

I wanna see Gnarls Barkley live. The closest they'd probably come is San Francisco, though. Assuming they do a tour. I might would make a trip for that if they would are headlining.

br3ad_man 04-25-2006 01:15 AM

I've got some post-rock up on myspace if anyone's interested.

http://www.myspace.com/papercranesband
A Dead Shark sounds really nice when it develops. Is the guitar playing meant to sound fragile and sloppy like that though? If it is, then it's a nice touch.

el doctor 04-25-2006 12:52 PM

I passed my road test today. :D

JonM 04-25-2006 01:45 PM
Jon, I can send you the Gnarls Barkley if you want it.
Wait, the album? Or those 7 tracks that leaked a while ago, cuz I have those, and they're not finished.

Happymeal 04-25-2006 08:20 PM

Today I went to a memorial mass after school in remembrance of the 3 dudes who died in car crashes last year. So it was kind of sad, and stuff.

Line-up is rather good this year. Sonic Youth headling, Brian Wilson, DCFC, the Grates, TV on the Radio among others. Anyone going?
