nah, they arent active. Thats why they put that dB gain in that biznatch
|
hey repcak, i made a thread in the guitar forum that you might find interestings. Its nothing earth shattering, but i think some could benefit from it
hey, thanks that you think of me :thumb: |

The battery cavity in the back of my guitar says otherwise. I really dislike it when people argue this with me. I know the specs say the guitar is supposed to be passive, but if it is, then I guess the battery hooked up to my pickups is being drained by some mysterious source. |
hey, thanks that you think of me :thumb:
yea man, you're my nig shadows : well, then your guitar is different than mine was  |
I guess so. My teacher was really surprised to open it up and see that it was active. I didn't mind though.
|
if its active, you should find out which pups you have then. Maybe they fukked up, im not sure.
Does the afterburner deally use a batter? |
I thought the same thing. I've been wanting to pull the pickups out to check what they really are, but I don't know anything about guitar wiring, and I'd be terrified of breaking something.
The booster does drain the battery quicker, but a 9V battery lasts for a really long time either way. |
EMGs are the EASIEST pups to change ever. It takes about 4 minutes. I just traded a 707 for my 81/7 3 weeks ago
|
yea man, you're my nig
nig = nigga? all the Jackson MG-serie guitars have this "booster". is this a gain-booster or something similar? |

I'd like to change to an 81/60, but I'm not sure if I can rely on the instructions alone. Jackson just eliminated the booster completely. MG guitars now come with EMG 81/85 pickups, but none have the TurboCharger that a few used to have. I'm glad I got mine early enough. :) It gives a boost in both volume and gain. I've noticed that on the clean channel it's a huge volume boost, and on a distorted channel it's a pretty big gain boost. |
Nig in that sense in used as "boy" or "close friend"
:) i feel honoured :p |
Hey Gice, just recorded the first few seconds of Kissing the Shadows as a tone test with a different amp. I know how much you all love that song.
Check it! http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=A4E7C1752E2A35AD No bass though. :( |
Good stuff.
What's your setup for recording now? |
its mainly just a volume boost.
Nig in that sense in used as "boy" or "close friend"
Just be careful. That stuff can set off a wildfire that doesn't go out for several days. :thumb: |
Good stuff.
What's your setup for recording now?
Using the BC Rich Warlock straight into a Line 6 Spider II 2x12. Line out on amp to line in on computer. I've always thought they kinda sounded Follow the Reaperish if you turn down the gain, you get that chunk like that single note in Kissing the Shadows or Children of Decadence. |
Mitch, are you ever gonna get a band together, man?
|
Errrrm, maybe. Not sure how soon though, I gotta take this next year out and get a job and get some money together, try and become a person instead of just another random student. Plus, the job will help me start to pay my mum for all this child benifit crap. But we'll see how it goes, I've never really started anything like that before so I wouldn't really know how to go about it.

I started Cast Down The Heretic since I'm moving really slow (good way) so I can do the Vivaldi perfect. I don't want to rush through that and be sloppy.
Cast Down The Heretic = HARD . I think nailing one riff at a time and some time will be fine though |
Do you have the GP5 tab of it?? I tryed getting someone to convert it but noone did. I really can't be bothered to download 5 just for a few tabs.

Cast Down The Heretic is turning out much easier than it seemed at first. Though it's no cakewalk.
MUCH easier and more fun than Lashed. |
