School newspapers suck. The editor is always someone you hate, and they let the power go to their head. My gf was the lead editor of her school newpaper, and she likes good music :)

She actually wrote the music articles too I think.

Stormrider 04-18-2006 06:28 PM

I have few Dark Tranquility songs on my computer. I very rarely listen to them...I don't remember how they sound.
I can top it...I get to play bands I like for my school radio

ps i listened to the who earlier and thought of you :-\
I also wish I had my own radio station.

And although that sounds kinda gay, it's pretty cool nonetheless.

I've lucked out, seeing as there are only 4 seniors in my class, and then like 2 other juniors and the rest are sophmores who suck at writing. I on the otherhand don't suck at writing, so I luck out :D.

I'm actually the editor for my school paper, and it's not as stuck-up and annoying as everyone here makes it sound. We have a small staff and a very crappy paper, and I'm not one of those kids who gets power hungry and lives for the school paper. It's just a class I do that I enjoy sometimes.

I wish I had my own radio station, people would get confused.

Metalheads would be relaxing to a bit of Darkthrone, say, then BAM! Radiohead

I guess I'm just bitter by experience then.

The editor I had to deal with was a royal bitch. She hated me and most of the other people who tried to submit articles. She was also bad as an editor overall. Everytime a teacher pointed out the dozen or so grammatical errors in each issue (mostly stuff like "their" instead of "they're"), she blamed us.

By the time she left, she had succeeded in turning the school paper into one big editorial about boy bands, Friends, crappy poetry her friends wrote, and movies starring DiCaprio.

That's like how my radio is though, my partner likes Indie Rock, I prefer to play Hardcore/Pop-Punk/what little Metal we have...so there's always a awkward bit of a transition since we alternate...

Riva 04-18-2006 06:51 PM

My radio station would be even better.

Pink Floyd to Dream Evil to Pink Floyd toProcol Harum to Mithras Pink Floyd to Galloglass to The Bee Gees.

I'd love it.

Kingofdudes 04-18-2006 06:54 PM

On the topic of Dark Tranquillity, I saw them a few weeks ago.

I want to buy a distortion pedal(for metal), anyone have any recommendations?

Lunch 04-18-2006 06:55 PM

I would play psychedelic stuff, obviously.

Riva 04-18-2006 06:57 PM

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v376/JasonTheSteve/Sketches/

I drew a new sketch yesterday, being inspired as I was by Dream Evil.

Fans should recognise the title of the sketch.

It's the one called HMJ.

Honestly, most of them are a waste of money.

Just play through a ton of them. Find which you like and don't. Go from there.

Also ask in Guitar, those guys know pedals.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-18-2006 07:06 PM

I would write concept stories through a series of different songs, and segue between songs with little liner notes giving more detail about the story.

"Here's where our character is born."

Baby song - Devin Townsend

...

"Here our character dies."

Hammer-smashed face - Cannibal Corpse

[/radio fantasy]

Digitech Metal Master. Period. I will never try another pedal again.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-18-2006 07:12 PM

Look for a used Digitech RP200a. Not just distortion, decent price, high quality.

gillygan 04-18-2006 07:13 PM
Digitech Metal Master. Period. I will never try another pedal again.
Imo I think those sound really digital and yucky.

King of Dudes what kind of amp do you have? And do you want an overdrive or disortion?

Invicta_Veritas 04-18-2006 07:14 PM

Don't listen to him.

Digitech Metal Master........it is the best metal distortion pedal my band has ever used........we will not stray from it.

Digital? How? Unless you know not of how to adjust your settings.

And you really shouldn't center your pedal around what kind of amp you have......the pedal should sound good through any decent amp.....if it doesn't, your amp usually sucks.

It takes the right combination of amp, guitar, and pedal.

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, I want distortion

Lunch 04-18-2006 07:18 PM

Haha, I'm listening to a band called Omnibus.

Invicta_Veritas 04-18-2006 07:21 PM
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, I want distortion
I still stick with my pedal, but i might also suggest you change your amp at some point.......for the love of God, anything but fender for freaking metal.

<<<has bad, bad experiences with fender and Marshall for death metal)

I personally use ashland Guitars, Digitech Metal Master Pedals, and Peavey amps and cables.......I love the way my setup sounds; it's perfect for death metal.

I would not, however, recommend the digitech death metal pedal.....it's too sludgy (unless you want to sound exactly like Six Feet Under).

gillygan 04-18-2006 07:23 PM
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, I want distortion
How much money are you looking to spend?

These will give you fantastic distortion, but there around $300.

You must have mixed up the songs somehow.

awesome...thank you.

I hope it wasn't too much trouble...I didn't mean to be a pain.:chug:

Stormrider 04-18-2006 07:28 PM

I wish I had asked a distortion pedal for christmas. Instead I asked for a foot switch. I liked my amps distortion so it was OK. But then my amp didn't have the foot switch input...so I exchanged for a metronome. Switching from distortion to clean when you're playing along to something is anoying when you have to stop playing and press the little button :(

Im starting College soon, so buying a whole new set up is kinda out of the question for the next few years.
