welll, I decided to make the most pointless 1,500th post, and here it is. Im going to Bed lol, good night MX
Yeah well.. bite me.

Should my hi hats have a cymbal sleeve on the top cymbal?
i don't think it's all that important. cymbal sleeves are basically there to prevent key holing and other damage caused from the screw threads. the top hi hat doesn't have to worry about threads so it's not really important.

I don't know about your hi hat clutch, but mine has threads, to, you know...hold it together. But I don't think I could get a sleeve wide enough to go around it, that and the top hat doesn't really move that much, so you should be good without it.

Win A Rabbit 01-30-2006 11:56 PM

i don't have one on mine. then again, when i buy new hats, i'll most likely put one on, just because i have like 10 that i'm not using. chances are very unlikely that you'll get some keyholing damage on your top hat, but with a $300 pair of hats, a little cymbal sleeve can't really do any bad.

LoneStarDrummer 01-30-2006 11:58 PM

well on most clutches there's a section in the middle without threads where the hat gets positioned. some do have threads all the up the clutch though like you said.

derryk 01-31-2006 12:01 AM

You can buy hoses and such that fit your hi hat rod/holder at like home depot I think. I was just thinking about that..

I love having two computers, both hooked up to one monitor, one mouse, and one keyboard. I'm surfing the net on one comp, and switching over to play Morrowind on the other..... :D I love it!

Double Bass Jim 01-31-2006 12:53 AM

Yeah he's a solid player, I saw em play outside before the rush show in 02'!
Yeah he's a solid player, I saw em play outside before the rush show in 02'!
Awsome, I liked his style. I was looking through the pictures (That for somereason I cant make bigger  ) He has played with Wackerman and Bozzio it looks like.

A KVM Switch.

They come in 2 and 4 ports. I have a 4 ports, but I only need 2.

Basically (it comes with these cables) you plug a computer's mouse, keyboard, and monitor outputs into the KVM switch. Then you plug in the monitor, keyboard, and mouse directly into the switch.

With the push of a button (or hotkeys) you can switch between computers in about 2 seconds.

The one thing I don't like is that is doesn't share speakers, meaning I have to use headphones on one while I run my 5.1 rig through the other.

poppinfresh 01-31-2006 01:11 AM

i saw the most awesome bands at the drumer festival. its a local shop thing that they put on. ill make a thread later when time is available for hte taking. this one band had two drummers, both which had their own clinics, a keyboardist, a dj, and a conguero. best band ive ever seen, i hope to get to a few of their shows.

I don't have 2 computers, so I don't care, just simply curious. My moniter has cords for 2 computers though.

Blank 01-31-2006 01:16 AM

I usually don't like more than one drummer.

Besides...give me a solid double bass set up and I am 2 drummer.... >.>

/Not as good as you think :p

Edit-MG it seems like were seeing the same show at different time! :chug:

I should be adding one of these to my setup, it'll be over by the hand percussion when i get me some bongos.

RushHourSoul 01-31-2006 06:48 AM

Theramins are badass, would be pretty hard to play while drumming though.

Drum Phil 01-31-2006 06:56 AM

I stole the idea from a Mr. Bill Bailey :) He had one on his keyboard and they're awesome. It'll fit in nicely with my V-Drums when i get them. Ive got my whole dream kit pretty much decided now.

My pearl steel snare

Cymbals:

Sabian:
14" HHX power hats
18" HHX Power crash
19" AAXplosion crash
18" HHX China
10" HHX splash
22" HH Rock ride
Full paragon set for other situations

Zildjian:
16" K Custom fast crash
18" K Crash/Ride
6" Zilbel

Paiste:
15" Signature sound edge hats

Yamaha DTXtreme II electronic pads and module

Either LP or Pearl Fibreglass bongos and gongas
Pearl El Negro cowbells and meinl steel cowbells
Pearl clave blocks
Moog Etherwave

DW 9000 stands

That will be an awesome setup, how much of that do you already own?

Drum Phil 01-31-2006 07:00 AM

The snare, claves, K Custom Fast crash, AAXplosion crash and zilbel :( Its gonna be a long battle.

I cant decide between the DTXtreme II and the Roland TD12K. The 12k is like £1000 more expensive though

Anyone else noticed that angry kid "Drumaster" is now banned for his post in the JJ snare thread?
Anyone else noticed that angry kid "Drumaster" is now banned for his post in the JJ snare thread?
Yeah Im really surprised. Jim hardly ever bans. There have been people who deserved bannings much more than him.
