If I could listen to one Metallica song for the rest of my life it would be "For Whom The Bell Tolls."

I'd have like, an .mp3 of Fade To Black, Orion, and For Whom The bell Tolls, all in one song.

ya i'd say fade to black or one both ****in kick ass The last 3 minutes of fade to black are incredible

thelittledrummerboy 08-05-2005 09:09 PM

RTL is my fav album.

Me fav songs include One, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Creeping Death and Of Wolf and Man.

redstar_blackfist 08-05-2005 10:05 PM

Well, I'm listening to them now

I like Metallica

Schecterguitarist 08-06-2005 10:34 AM

My favorite tunes would hav to be Battery and ..And Justice For All. Battery becuz its f**kin fast as hell and becuz of the sweet F Bb B Bb B Bb B F# F riff after the solo. AJFA is sooo much fun to play, i also luv it cuz its so complex and has a big mix of classical in it, plus its there longest song!

Schecterguitarist 08-06-2005 10:57 AM

Hey get this, I was reading my So What book (the official METALLICA illustrated chronicle) and theres some pages where fans ask question to the band and one of them is wut is your favorite song to play live and which of ur songs is ur favorite:
The band answered:

Lars:favorite tunes-Whiplash, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fade to Black, Orion, Sandman, and Nothing Else Matters.
favorite tunes to play live-Sanaterium and For Whom the Bell Tolls

Kirk:both faves and faves to perform-Sad But True, Enter Sandman, The Thing That Should Not Be, Sanaterium, Hasrvester of Sorrow, Creeping Death, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Motorbreath.

James-The Thing That Should Not Be

no bassist is listed so it must hav been wen Jason left

Mercyful Fate on Garage Inc. is longer but mind you that's just a cover jam.

It's not a jam, it's a medley of Mercyful Fate songs.

Mr. Black 08-06-2005 02:34 PM

I think AJFA the song is good, but in my opinion the album isn't very good at all, affter i've heard RTL it seems really bad

It's the other way round for me, i dislike AJFA the song but like the album.

That song just drags on and on and on. But the album rules, blackened, one, harvestor of sorrow, frayed ends, to live is to die \m/

FlyingPaul_83 08-06-2005 02:45 PM

AJFA is one of my favorite metallica songs :(

Agitator01 08-06-2005 02:48 PM
now that i read it, the comment confuse me a lot, but your list it's still good, except for seek and destroy, it's very simple compare to other kill 'em all tracks.
I agree with you on this one But, now this is a big but, songs don't really have to be complex to be good, I know hundreds of songs that are reasonably simple to play and even sound simple but are really effective..

WHAT?! i hav to disagree becuz if the song AJFA drags on then u can make the arguement that the song MOP just drags on cuz they are both long. I dont feel this way tho becuz all the riffs are really complex in AJFA and i like how they "remix" the intro part after the solo its rly cool.

PS:mop DOESNT drag on, just trying to make a point

Six Foot Revolver 08-06-2005 09:16 PM

So I just got No Life 'Til Leather and it is freaking awesome :). Seek & Destroy is so much better on it and The Phantom Lord is great too. It is alot better than Power Metal and it also has more tracks :)

The only bad thing about both for me is that the track fades in and out, having been recorded in a garage and then No Life.. was in a local studio.
It didn't really matter too much that they changed the lyrics later for Kill Em All, cause like on Mechanix, I could barely understand a **** word he said, but I've come to expect that from him. That's what makes them great, you know they say something important, but you can't understand it.

Jev 08-07-2005 09:12 AM

I'm glad they changed the words to th Mechanix. It was about a Garage worker.

Yeah but MoP doesn't have the same riff for 2 minutes, the intro to AJFA (after the acoustic bit) is far too long and just repeats too much.

i agree, you can't say a song drags on just because it is long. MOP is long, but it moves along and is not extremely repetitive

Mr. Black 08-07-2005 11:04 AM

I think the AJFA album on a whole isn't great(have I posted on this before) I listened to it then listened to RTL and RTL is so mcuh better

That is probably because Ride The Lightning is IMO their greatest album followed closely by Master Of Puppets

Jev 08-07-2005 11:07 AM

Agreed i prefer RTL over all their other albums.

I'm not too sure i think it might be because the guy who signed them wanted to record it there. Or it might just have been a cheaper, better studio.

clairvoyant 08-07-2005 01:55 PM

Yea and then Dave Mustaine had to travel back to San Fran very aruptly...

The B 08-07-2005 02:00 PM

hehehe....travel....he got the boot!

Ya, i wanna see Metallica cover more songs, and less other bands cover metallica songs live. Every time i hear a live metallica cover it sucks the metallica versions d*ck

Youve obviously never heard Trivium do Master of Puppets. Of course, its not as good as the original, but its amazing none the less.

Huber 08-07-2005 02:40 PM

I wanna hear the Trivium MoP cover...

and to RideTheLightning03:

Tell that to Dream Theater

Dream Theater butchered that CD. They made it sound lame by using Keyboards, and im sorry but Labrie just sucked at singing it.

Yea, I also thought it was pretty bad also. I didn't mind the keyboards, but the vocals sounded exactly opposite of hetfield's, and obviously when they put opposite vocals with their music, it will sound like shit. They played MoP slower than metallica plays live, now I dont know whether metallica plays faster live than their album, or if DT played slower. Petrucci and Portnoy were great though. Actually portnoy was better since all petrucci did was stand there and play. He has almost no stage presence that it becomes boring to watch him.

Ya, i agree about th DT covers, the vocals are the worst part of it. I'm also pretty sure Metallica plays faster live than on thier CDs. On all the live stuff i have, it clearly sounds faster
