Similar records, in a way. Playful, jubilant, jazz-inflected Norwegian work. Excellent.

Interesting album. Sounds like something a bored recording engineer would do one day in his basement.

RedMorningLight 04-17-2007 10:32 AM

The Dangerdoom stuff from the mailing list and also the first Shins album, it was really cool to chill and do some maths too.

AlienEater 04-17-2007 11:16 AM

Four Tet - Rounds

I really love this album, it's a lot better than Everything Ecstatic
Yo Crumb, reccomend me some Beat Happening?
I like to recommend You Turn Me On because it has decent production and a couple of my favorite Beat Happening songs ("Bury the Hammer" and "Teenage Caveman," a fine paean to hormonal cavemen) but all their albums have great stuff if you don't mind lo-fi. First four songs off the s/t also make it worth checking out, whole thing is probably more evocative of their catalogue, too. So maybe one of those two. Folks might disagree.

I have Dreamy, and it's pretty good, but not mind blowing. 'Hot Choclate Boy' is a great song though. I need to check out some of their other stuff too.

The Jungler 04-17-2007 03:42 PM

I have the first two Beat Happening records, cool stuff. Maybe I'll get the other album you recommended.

Toots and Maytals - Funky Kingston

Hands down the best reggae album that I've ever heard. I don't know why I didn't check this one out sooner.

Frank Zappa - Over-Nite Sensation

This is a solid release but in the ends it's a mixed bag. There are some cool solo's and humorous lyrics but it's kind of boring. "Montana" is awesome.

ATM 04-17-2007 07:44 PM

Toots is amazing live.
