Does anyone have Eric Clapton's new album "Me And mr. Johnson. It's like a tribute to Robert Johnson who obviously influenced Eric a lot.

It's quite good, methinks.
I didn't have time to learn all the strings on a guitar so I went with bass, and I heard it is easier to use if you're a vocalist

And I don't like Neil Young, you guys are crazy about him...I need some songs that will really get me into him. And Rush, I'm not into them and I own 2112 and didn't like it :\ not my style.
I'm not crazt about him. I consider myself a modest Neil Young fan, but Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is one kickass album.

Yes it is. He's on Live Aid isn't he?

shortass 01-03-2005 07:00 PM

I like Neil Young...but he's not my favorite. I have Harvest, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, and After the Gold Rush on vinyl (all of which are my dad's), but I've only listened to Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

I have it, but I haven't listened to it too much yet. I should. I like what I've heard. And, Robert Johnson was a classic blues player.

Yea, but that's one of the ones I haven't watched yet. I'm sure it was a good performance.

Badmoon 01-03-2005 07:25 PM
Hehe, so it's not the Grateful Dead with Jerry? That makes sense, methinks.

The more guitarists, the less mistakes that will be made. I don't think anyone needs more than 3 though.

/all caught up
What's this in response to? Just wondering so I can discuss the subject once again :)

/not insulting you

I heard everyone's wearing flashy suits on stage then Neil walks out in like a plaid jacket and cowboy hat.

frkn'loud 01-03-2005 07:36 PM

the band i was first in to was Pink Floyd then i got into led zep and the who and then the beatles. did it happen like this to anyone else?

Naw for me it was AC/DC-Zeppelin-Neil-Floyd-Beatles-etc.

Woodstock 01-03-2005 07:49 PM

I dont like Rush at all, they're part of my trifector of evil. Rush, Foreigner and Styx.

Neil Peart gets my respect, but Geddy Lee sounds like a horny ghost.

thickasabrick 01-03-2005 08:06 PM

usually for me, i either love a band/artist and am crazy about them..or i hate them.

rush is probably one of the few bands that are in between for me.

does anyone else listen to music in the shower? today i listened to Down By The River (from Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere). Usually I listen to Hendrix in the shower. It makes for some great naked air guitar.

indeed, very good. Haven't listened to it in a while though.

Say are there any vocalists in here?

I sing in a choir, and go in the school musicals, probably gonna go in vocal jazz this year. But I'm not any sort of Freddy Mercury type singer, more like Bob Dylan actually. I like to play my acoustic guitar and sing, not so much my electric.

smoke a bowl dig a hole 01-03-2005 08:18 PM

i need to get me a picture doodad like you cool cats.

DeusExMachina 01-03-2005 08:19 PM

I sing like an *******. I love to sing, but I'm god awful at it.

Rasta Rocker 01-03-2005 08:26 PM

i like to sing as a joke, but when i do most people dont understand im kidding around and then they think im an ***

I'm not amazing or anything, but I sing for my band occasionally.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 01-03-2005 08:36 PM

I would love to sing..only problem is that the noise that comes out of my mouth doesnt sound all that great. :upset: I can keep a tune, my voice just isnt something you'd want to listen to for very long.

RockAndRoll 01-03-2005 08:49 PM
I'm not amazing or anything, but I sing for my band occasionally.
Do you sing because you couldn't find a vocalist and the guys figured it was better than nothing, or do you actually sing? (sorry if that seems insulting, it's not meant to be in the slightest)

Just crap from pages ago that I was commenting on. Somebody said something about The grateful dead just being called The Dead now and such. I was wondering if that's because it's not the real thing without Jerry?

maybe they're just really pissed off or something now. ;)

Badmoon 01-03-2005 09:13 PM

The guitarists they have are extremely good. You all of course know Warren is talented, but I doubt you know how incredible Jimmy Herring actually is.

Just listen to Jazz is Dead, he's amazing.
the band i was first in to was Pink Floyd then i got into led zep and the who and then the beatles. did it happen like this to anyone else?
For me it was The Beatles - Iron Butterfly - Jimi Hendrix - Blue Oyster Cult - Black Sabbath - Deep Purple - Jethro Tull - The Who

Weird journey I took there.

jpj 01-03-2005 09:25 PM

I downloaded a Jazz is Dead song, and it is ****ing awesome. I want more.
