Mornin' all!
CTTS is amazing. They are so epic-sounding and their musicianship is key. If anyone argues that their musicianship sucks, I will fight them to the death.

If you don't like the music on a preferential level, that's fine, though, and totally understandable. I, on the other hand, thoroughly love CTTS. I got high last night and listened to "As the Roots Undo" (the album) before I went to bed last night. It was great. The drummer in that band is amazing. His drums fill any void in the music and pulls their whole sound together.

Kathy's bass playing and backing vocals dominate hard, too.

-Gav
Same Shade as Concrete. I absolutely LOVE that song. I totally know what you mean though.. There's something in thier music that is so.. passionate and over-taking. I've tried to get friends into them but no one likes them and just thinks they're weird and the vocals "suck". And I agree with you on the drumming! He is fantastic. They're all fantastic!

Come on Doug! Join in with why you like CTTS so much!

I wish the hardcore scene around here was good :( All it is is camo shorts, bad haircuts, no movement from the band except the lead singer strutting from one side of the stage to the other and the music going something like:

fast played powerchord for a fast bar > "shouted" lyrics that mean absolutely nothing and are probably on a bout why they hate toast >fast played powerchord for a bar. If that makes sense.

I'll dig some videos up from Youtube of a local hardcore band..

Everyone go and have a listen to that song! :D It's by Camp CK.

Chords, etc. played be CK
First up on fretless is Alex (Wintermute)
Next is Chris on his 5 string BTB (fatbandit)
Then its me on my Schecter with reverb (jamie_dunce)
After that it's Matt on his Yamaha 5 string (Sheephead)
And to finish it off its CK on his 7 string conk (Coffee_Killer)

Enjoy!
Woah... I remember that.

My fretless playing was pretty basic back then. I'd only had it a couple of months. Still, it's a nice recording. :)

I just made some Yerba Mate, its amazing.

Wintermute 07-15-2006 05:49 PM

I reckon Jamie probably knew of its existance. He does play on it, after all.

And you are linking to it from my soundclick. :p

There's one of them. There's a few videos.. That's Choke. I'm friends with the drummer (he's a great drummer) used to be friend's with the bassist (I tried to teach him how to play ages ago) and hate the guitarist :p

They aren't *as* bad as some of the other local bands but they're still rather useless

trumpeter 07-15-2006 05:52 PM

Jeez, I just triple posted without realizing it.

That's the exact CTTS song I had in mind. You know the part in the huuuge build up intro where everything just drops and it's that one guitar playing the minor harmonic melody and then the tribal drums come in...man, every time, that sends CHILLS up my spine.

The hardcore scene here is awesome and so is the emo scene. I don't go to hardcore shows much anymore because I got bored with mosh pits, pile ups, and sing alongs. I like the emo scene way more (always have, always will) because it's awesome to just stand up front and scream along and see how passionate everyone in the band is.

Western Mass music sucks, except for like maybe 5 bands.

I do enjoy local music. Just now I walked down to my local village pub for a drink, and found a bunch of old men holding instruments... then they starting playing the most blistering, lively blues-rock I've heard in many a year.

SRV, JJ Cale, all that kind of thing.

The main guitarist (looked like he'd been playing solid since his hippy days in the 60s) was using a MIDI pickup to play keyboard solos with his guitar. It was awesome. :D

Listen to them. They're a jam/jazz/funk band from Mass. They're awesome. Their bassist is great, too. I saw them live and they were incredible.

Yes! I know exactly what you mean! :D I love how it kicks in, with the Rejoice! Rejoice our noble BIRTH! And later on where it goes "wade in the water". I love that breakdown there and where it kicks back in into "let the flood swell" with that guitar line. It's just an incredible song :)

So I'm going to this gig in November.. called Taste of Chaos. The line up is Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, Anti-Flag, Senses Fail, Saosin, Parkway Drive (who I've never heard) and Underoath. I'm really looking forward to seeing anti flag and underoath mostly :)

Also going to see Enter Shikari near the end of the year too. That should be good :D

REJOICE! REJOICE A NOBLE BIRTH!
A PRINCE IS BORN!

That album is amazing. I love the "wade in the water" part, too. They're just so incredible. It's beyond me. I can't wait to see them live. I don't know when I am, yet, but I will! :D

SOTUG was here like...yesterday, I think. I wouldn't drop money on it. I think Thursday was the only good band on the roster but I'm not sure.
