new DMST is boring
Yeah, I just meant new Pelican. I love Winter Hym Country Hym, though... Beautiful all-around album. Oh yes, and Fredericia may be my favorite post rock song ever. |
Mono has got to be hands down my favorite post-rock band.
One More Step and You Die is one of the best surprise purchases I ever made. |
heh
i always thought Mono is boring on records theyre good live though |
They're amazing live. And, yeah, much better than their records.

Today has been a great music day. I bought a used $5 mono album and just got back from seeing Boris.
|
Has anyone heard the Pirate Ship Quintet or Fang Island? They're fairly good. I've made friends with a guy on exchange from England (he's in the band Score One For Safety). I grabbed this post-rock off him.
|
PSQ are very good.
|
I got the Shora album in. It's pretty cool. All instrumental. Long songs as well, and the tracks stream into each other well.
A decent unified album. I have the two Bossk albums coming in as well. I stoked about those, as they only have a sample of their EP on their myspace. I think the whole disc is one long song. |
Has anyone here ever heard/heard of Piano Magic? They are very vocal Post Rock. Pretty cool.
|
Everyone listen to These Monsters... right now.
****ing seriously |
I will if you hook me up with some
|
Indeed. Link me.
|
These Monsters... are pretty good, Anthony.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Sigur Ros Explosions In The Sky Mogwai 65daysofstatic This thread has reminded me that I need to start listening to post-rock again. |
Also, someone mentioned if anyone had any other Russian Circles albums beyond "Enter."
I have their demo cd that I got at a show of theirs, before Enter came out. Nothing new, just earlier recordings of the Enter tracks, but you might be interested. I would like to get their "Re-enter" EP. I have the vinyl, but I think there is a defect on it, it always skips on me :(
I'd quite like to get re-enter as well. I heard the song re-enter on their myspace and it was pretty good. Set fire to flames are pretty awesome. |
Set fire to flames are awesome.
fix'd for tr00fs sake |

Sigur Ros Explosions In The Sky Mogwai 65daysofstatic This thread has reminded me that I need to start listening to post-rock again.
why |
GY!BE is too esoteric for me... Sigur Ros is the class of those bands in my opinion. I finds Explosions and Mogwai to be incredibly boring.
|
Godpseed is the ultimate though.
|
GYBE makes my pants wet. I have heard good things about Explosions in the Sky. I need to check them out.
|
Explosions got me into Post-Rock so I have a soft-spot for them, so to speak. They pretty much sound like standard, accessible post-rock.
|
ASMZ and GY!BE and Sigur Ros are definitely my top three.
Has anyone seen the trailer for the new Sigur Ros documentary? I will absolutely be purchasing that. |
Is it about them or is the one they did all he music for?
GY!BE make me gasm. They give my brother nightmares if i play them while he's asleep. |
there are even girls at my school that like explosions in the sky
so like they must be boring! |
why is that I've never met a girl with good taste in music
is it because: a) girls suck at music b) i don't talk to girls because i get all nervous and say something stupid/nothing c) explosions in the sky suck |
All of the above.
|

GY!BE make me gasm. They give my brother nightmares if i play them while he's asleep.
Really? I find GYBE to be quite peaceful. |
Really? I find GYBE to be quite peaceful.
What are you talking about? It swerves wildly from many different moods, from peaceful to apocalyptic. |
I just have Tiny Silver Hammers and Lift Your Skinny Fists, to me they sound peaceful.
|
Turn to about 12:30 in the first track of Lift Your Skinny Fists. That's peaceful?
