Could someone recommend me some Brutal Prog? Im really getting into Behold the Arctopus but its really killing me i can't find any of their tabs.
|
can anyone recommend me some good ballads. ballads as in, slower, mellow and some sort emotional songs by metal bands. as in, the intro and verses are acoustically done or on clean tone. then when the choruses kick in, the distortion comes in...thanks :thumb:

anyone has any other recommendations of ballads?

now depends on what you mean by brutal prog. Some bands I think they'd fit are Spastic Ink (powertabs.net), Spiral Architect (powertabs.net) Dysrhythmia and PsyOpus |
hey dudes, i've heard good things about Kalmah, would anyone be able to reccommend me some of their stuff?
|
anyone has any other recommendations of ballads?
Try: Faith No More - Easy Opeth - To Bid You Farewell However, I think Guns N' Roses really do set the standards with ballads, with songs like Patience, Civil War, November Rain etc. If you like the ballads you've heard by them, try Velvet Revolver - Fall To Pieces and Loving The Alien. |
Hmm ballads...
Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde Iron Maiden - Wasting Love Metallica - One Metallica - Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Metallica - Fade To Black Metallica - Nothing Else Matters |

Need to Make a Wrestling CD form my 10 year old son!
I need to make a wrestling CD for my 10year old son. He loves wrestling and has latched onto my old rock and roll. He'll carry my CD player that is now his anywhere he can and seems to really enjoy AC/DC. Wrestling season begins soon and I promised him that I would make him a CD of songs that would pump him up right before his match. Some of the songs I have considered are: AC/DC(Thunder), Survivor(Eye of the Tiger), Quiet Riot(Bang your head) and Nazarath(Hair of the Dog). However, these are songs that are two decades old now, still have a lot of punch and he seems to get fired up by them. What I need to get are some suggestions on what is out there now, a list of songs that are semi-age appropriate but will really get your blood flowing through you veins so when you get out there on the mat your ready to take the fight to them. I've been stuck in the 80's and need some help. What are some good songs out there that have been made in the last twenty years that really get you fired up. Thanks a lot, I look like I know what I'm doing if I can make a good one for him. He of course would wonder how I did it! Ha! :thumb:

I'm getting obsessed with acoustic hard rock songs such as Atomship - Withered, Dry Kill Logic - Goodnight, Crossfade - Cold (acoustic), Breaking Benjamin - So Cold (acoustic), and other similar artists...can anyone give me some more titles to find? any input would be appreciated.

i'm into guitar bands and enjoy stuff like metallica and randy rhoads, but i have gotten bored of listening to metallica and want a more modern metal band or any metal band, preferably not nu metal. does anyone know of anything that might cure my boredom?
|
For bands similar to old Metallica try
Exodus Testament Megadeth Anthrax |
thanks for the suggestions but are there any newer metal bands with talent that are not nu metal or have terrible vocals or would that be a dream band?
|
nevermore ;)
For bands similar to old Metallica try
Exodus Testament Megadeth Anthrax
Might be, but i think these bands (specially the vocals) aren't as good as the pre-1990 Metallica. |

Try Accoustic Medley and Pallers Anders Visa by In Flames and Patterns in the Ivy by Opeth. I'm assuming that you already have Voice of the Soul by Death? |

IMO, Dream Theater. Labrie is a great singer. Portony is an insane drummer. Petrucci is one of the best guitarists. Jordan Rudess is a very talented keyboardist. And John Myung isn't the best bassist but is still above average. |
which at the gates cd is the best that i should buy or download ?
|
Slaughter of the Soul, in my opinion. Although it has kind of divided the death fans its still a masterpiece :)

hmmm dream thatre..dont they sing about wierd stuff though...i think im thinkin of something like arch enemy or cradle of filth without the terrible vocals..imo terrible vocals anyway Does anyone know of such band, oh and what are nightwish like?
|
And John Myung isn't the best bassist but is still above average.
Bah, I think he is way above average, and his role in the band is greatly overlooked. He is an amazing bassist just for his physical skill at the instrument. I can see how he is overshadowed by portnoy and pattrucci (sp?) |
ok thanks but im know what im lookin for now...melodic death metal with hetfield vocals or normal vocals for that matter. I listened to dark tranquility and they are good...except of the vocals in imo. Does anyone know of melodic death metal or melodi metal with good vocals (not growling)?
|
pattrucci (sp?)
Petrucci* :) |

Just really appreciate growls, after a while they are amazing. But probably Opeth (Blackwater Park, there are some growls, but it's still a great listen, they add atmosphere imo). |

If you got rid of growling and harsh vocals, it would not be melodic death any more. As said before, learn to like the growls and have them grow on you, or don't even bother with music that has harsh vocals. There is no other ways around it. |
Dude they will grow on you. Alot!

hmm...why dont you try Beyond the Embrace or Biomechanical (not quite melo death but it might work)? |
hmm what are Beyond the Embrace and Biomechanical like. I would also like to know about the bands unearth, throwdown, from autumn to ashes, chimaira and trivium are like instrumentally and vocally if anyone knows (which im sure someone will because these bands are quite popular in the metal scene). replies appreciated.
