Dr. Jake Destructo 09-17-2006 09:06 PM

True story on both accounts, but for future reference, don't double post.

Oh, and I could probably convince my dad to see the Aussie Pink Floyd with me. That'd be pretty sweet. I might even be able to get him to smoke a bowl or something. :p

I've gone two years in a row, both amazing. Last year my dad got really drunk and smoked down with some guy.. This year I'm smoking. I started this year, and this will be my third year... I can't wait. Gonan smoke a bowl before I leave, and bring a joint. :smoke:

Lunch 09-17-2006 09:22 PM

Oh no, you say 'smoked down' too. It's smoked up.

Danger Bird 09-17-2006 09:36 PM

How dare Aussie Floyd not play Seattle?!

Apocalyptic Raids 09-17-2006 09:38 PM

I went and saw this show a couple of years ago: http://pinkfloydexperience.co.nz/J/

It's a 3 and a quarter hour show where they play DSOTM and The Wall in their entirety along with "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"

It's coming here again in November :D

Danger Bird 09-18-2006 07:04 PM

Did I ever post my YouTube Floyd synchs here?

magicbus 09-18-2006 07:13 PM

I don't believe you did.

I probably won't be seeing the Aussie Floyd. Wasn't that impressed with them :/

I always thought it was smoked out. :-/

PS: No Seattle? Fags. Nothing comes to the Northwest.

Riva 09-19-2006 06:22 AM

Welcome to Australia.

I think I've gone off AMLOR, I reckon.

Haha, that's the worse one I've heard yet. You guys and your crazy prepositions.

Danger Bird 09-24-2006 03:58 PM

Guys, what the hell? Page 4? Guys, what the hell?

robo2448 09-24-2006 04:08 PM

It's smoked up. End of the debate. You guys are crazy. Light up works too. But no downs, out, under, sideways, whatever the hell you guys come up with next.

MrConeman 09-24-2006 04:31 PM

Can't wait for Aussie Floyd to come back to Ireland, My dad, brother and uncles have been going for the past 2 years, we're going again if/when they come back pretty much every time they come, they put on a bloody fantastic show.

NP - Dogs. This riff is so beautifull, you know the one...berrrr nerrrrrr.

I got that one recently. I've only listened to it once, but I didn't really like it :(

Riva 09-25-2006 03:25 AM

It grows on you, but it grew off me again.

Quiksilver26 09-25-2006 07:50 PM

Hm, has anyone here seen Gilmour live recently? Just saw that he's playing a few North American dates and would love to go, considering tickets would probably be a hell of a lot cheaper than Waters'.

snorfledumpkins 09-25-2006 08:12 PM

So yeah, guess who's seeing Roger Waters this Friday?

Yeah, me.:chug: :thumb: :amaze: :D, oh and whoever said gilmour tickets would prolly be cheaper than waters, guess again.

I tried going to Gilmour, ridiculous, first, i try and buy tickets the second they come out on ticketmaster to the public. Couldn't get two together under 100. So me and my dad tried to scalp tickets at the show, we thought after about 20 minutes into the show, the ticket prices would go down. 275$ for once ticket in what would normally be an 80 $ ticket. Rogers tickets were like 35 each or something.

Quiksilver26 09-25-2006 08:22 PM

Seriously?? For the Toronto date ticketmaster said they were at cheapest like 80 or 100

Last time Gilmour came around, tix were like 60 =\

Yield 09-25-2006 08:25 PM

I wish I could go to one of these, but I don't like lots of smoking and a bunch of drunk people. the smoke really gives me a headache, and the drunk people trip on you

So I have been teling myself to get The Wall for a long time now, but I always put it off for something else. Well today I finally got it. Its a great album, up there with animals for me. However I am having some trouble understanding whats going on. The first disc wasnt too hard, as I have some experiance with Waters' lyrics. But I got a bit lost on the second one. Does anybody know what comfortably Numb is about, I understand that every song is another brick in this wall hes built around himself from society but what about this song? Also he mentions worms a few time particularly the whole fascist bit. What do these worms refer to? Oh yer and does he end up in jail? The end of it was rather confusing for me.

If anyone could answer these questions it would be much appreciated.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-27-2006 04:06 AM

I got Animals from the library today

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?albumid=1634

That's a good place. Med's reviews are great. That'll pretty much cover everything. That and wikipedia.

Good to see you like the album too. I think a way that might help you is to think that the first disc is about the wall being built around Pink, and the second is him coming to terms with it and eventually breaking it down. His fate after that is never really determined though.
I got Animals from the library today
And as for you - what do think??? Great isn't it! :chug:

Apocalyptic Raids 09-27-2006 07:53 AM

Well, I haven't listened yet :P

Danger Bird 09-27-2006 08:56 AM

Animals really didn't do it for me.

It's neither. It's SMOKING MARIJUANA in a big, booming voice.

Lunch 09-27-2006 11:28 AM

No one says that.

Animals is a great album.

robo2448 09-27-2006 11:49 AM

I agree with lunch.

On both accounts. Pigs is especially awesome.

A friends of mine says the same, gah ... that album is probably my favourite Floyd album ... of course it is close between about .... 5 albums of theirs ... :thumb:

rippa32 09-27-2006 09:15 PM

I think I am liking The Wall better as an album however Dogs to me is one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.

robo2448 09-27-2006 09:19 PM

Wish You Were Here is my favorite without a doubt. Animals may be 2nd. Or maybe Meddle.

rippa32 09-27-2006 09:28 PM

To me Wish You Were Here isnt as good as the others, particularly the title track.

And to Bahamut thanks for that review its definately shed some light on what I couldnt understand before.

However in that review the author describes Goodbye Cruel World as Pink saying goodbye to a normal life yet I had thought it meant he attempted suicide. What do you guys think?

Lunch 09-27-2006 09:32 PM

It sounds like a suicide note at first glance, but upon understanding the story of the Wall more it really only makes sense that he's seeing goodbye because he has completely cut himself off now, by building the wall.

rippa32 09-27-2006 09:46 PM

I see what you mean, and with Water's love of metaphor you're probably right.

Lunch 09-27-2006 09:52 PM

It's also kind of hard to continue a story with a character that's been killed off. If Pink committed suicide, what would be on disc two?

Montana 09-27-2006 10:34 PM
Wish You Were Here is my favorite without a doubt. Animals may be 2nd. Or maybe Meddle.
Wish You Were Here is so fluid it could be one song. It's absolute sex in music form. I swear I have gone into trances or something listening to Pink Floyd. Still, my favorite album is Atom Heart Mother; not the best overall, just my personal favorite.

rippa32 09-27-2006 11:56 PM
It's also kind of hard to continue a story with a character that's been killed off. If Pink committed suicide, what would be on disc two?
What I meant was I thought it was an attempt or even just an intention of suicide. Its obvious hes not dead.

Lunch 09-28-2006 12:08 AM

Yea, I get that. But even so that really wouldn't make much sense.
