100% eh? Awesome!

That's surprising that you didn't do well at solo... I thought you would've gone really well at that. Those lessons should do great though.

Can't wait for the recording. :)

I've gotta go, got a gig to do.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 06-15-2006 02:15 AM

Yeah.. nerves.. ya know?

Laetus 06-15-2006 02:18 AM

It just hit me.. I've never actually introduced myself. :)

My name's Jacob and I'm a music-holic.. :p
But anyhow - I do vocals, play guitar, bass and am pretty good at making drum loops in Fruity Loops if I should say so myself..
That leads me to another thing, which on other forums have proved a problem now and then.. I'm particularly stubborn on my opinions and do not change opinions unless thoroughly convinced.

Out of all the things I play - I have done vocals for the far longest.. That it may not always be noticeable on the mixes I sometimes add in the Audio Arena, or here for reference, then it's due to a poor setup. :)
(But the setup is improving gradually and the mixes get better as I learn mixing probably)

Rhythm is natural in my family.. My dad was a drummer, my big bro' is a drummer, my little bro used to be a drummer(then the bastard converted to techno'ism - a genre I don't see eye to eye with). But I've chosen to not go in that direction, so I picked string instruments. However, in fact I would never have done any instrument other than vocals if it wasn't for the fact that I needed an instrument to start composing songs.

My influences are wide and spread over a large variety of music spanning from classical music, particularly Beethoven and Mozart, to the loudest and hardiest of metal. But my true favorite is the band that inspired me to sing.. A good ol' 80's band called Europe.

Well - that's the rough sum up about me. :p

Guitardo 06-15-2006 12:29 PM

Hey I'm Moss love guitar in a band
I also love sports and video games
Played guitar for 6 years

Trigger_003 06-15-2006 04:41 PM

Hey Jacob, Moss, good to get to know about you a bit more :).
What kind of band are you in Moss? Jacob, are you in a band or do you just do projects?

Nervous? Really? You didn't strike me as someone who would get nervous. Then again, it's kinda hard to tell over the net/msn.
I got pretty nervous with mine too. It's weird - I can play pretty much anywhere on trombone now without being too worried about it, but as soon as I have to play in front of friends that haven't heard me much before, or for a class... :upset:

necromouse 06-15-2006 07:36 PM

youz gouys singaz?
okay? umm do you ever feel like a poser when you sing?
maybe im just crazy, but i feel obnoxious when i sing, so i nipples out of desperation

Yeah I know, I didn't strike myself as a nervous person either :-/.

It's just hard when you're in a class of like nine pianists and your teacher is a pianist and you feel like they're all judging you.

But with Jeremy I'm gonna get better .

Trigger_003 06-15-2006 11:28 PM

9 pianists? Jeez! We only have like 9 people in our whole music class.

OMGZ HOLIDAYS!!!
*party*

Necro: I did backup singing with one of my bands when it was required, but I never felt like a poser doing so. I think it's just a bit of self-consciousness and not knowing what you should do with yourself whilst onstage. You'll get over it the more you sing with your band (I'm guessing you're in a band) and the more you gig - trust me on that.
You should video yourself singing, sit back and look at it, then see what you think. Sure, if you go overboard with the stage tactics when your band sounds horrible, some people might be a bit :/, but I think most people can work out enough to know whether a crowd is going to like any crazy stuff or not.

ariathe9th 06-16-2006 08:19 AM

nah u get used to it

i recomend reading the music inner game

or taking drugs (beta blockers) works really well for me

necromouse 06-16-2006 08:55 AM

thanks, baby... real groovy...uhh...yo?

jurialmunkey 06-19-2006 12:10 AM

Can someone please kill the whole "Old Versus New" Thread... Close it or something. Its getting ridiculus.

Trigger_003 06-19-2006 04:20 AM

The Inner Game's worth reading then? I've heard a few people talking about it, but they were talking about pretty trivial health stuff at the time so I didn't think much of it.

Work tomorrow. They said I can do 10-4 instead of 9-5 and that I could take today off .
I wish I was going surfing in the tropics instead tho (of course)... it's been kinda cold down here lately.

Aes820 06-19-2006 04:25 AM

What work do you do Trea?
It's not for that website place that you were doing placement with, is it?

Trigger_003 06-19-2006 05:36 AM

It sure is. Just for these holidays, that's all. I don't have time for a job while school's on with everything else I do.

How's work going for you these days? Still mad crazy?

Haha, remember how I did a music marathon last year? I've got 2 this year... within 2 weeks of each other. 80 hours all up - I'm gonna be so stuffed :D

Aes820 06-19-2006 05:54 AM

Oh, nice. good stuff.
I never had a holiday job back when i was at school. I was just lazy.

Yeah. My work is busy as ever.
Big news is that our IT people are wanting to change platforms, including web platforms.
So with that we'll be moving away from old domino servers onto something else. Probably NT or .net Windows based.

The main way this affects us is with our currently Domino based content management systems. Which are big... And I really do mean BIG.
So over the next 5-6 months we're going to have to get a new content management system that is supported on the new platform (whatever that'll be) and migrate our content.

There's that, plus then the normal day to day stuff.
Regular content publishing, website updates and redevelopments (I'll be redoing The Source over the next month or so).
And even putting forethough into preparing for next years youthweek.
Our Annual report is coming up as well and we try to publish that online with a Triple A accessibility rating, which you may know takes a hell of doing to achieve.

They are advertising my job as permanent this Saturday. So hopefully I'll get it (currently i still contract but they like me so they are going to make it permanent, i still have to apply like everyone else does). I like working there.

Lately I havn't been able to dedicate 80 seconds to playing let alone 80 hours. Good luck with those marathons.

ariathe14th 06-19-2006 06:05 AM

yeah its worth a read for sure

Trigger_003 06-27-2006 03:37 AM

Coulda sworn I'd replied.

Anyway, there's something more important to talk about now.
How bad was that call? Gutted!
I wouldn't have been too torn if we'd lost later on - we played well - but to go out like that...

Lygon St was awesome last night/this morning though. Any other Aussies go out and party in the city for the match or anything?

Alive 06-27-2006 12:49 PM

Yeah, I was well dissapointed for Australia. I only saw a few minutes when it was at 85:00, but I thought at least they could hold on to extra time. Don't worry though, Italy won't win.

I watched Brazil/Ghana in the pub earlier, I was hoping for so much more from Ghana, and they came so close to great goals, but they could never finish. Shame about that guy diving in the box though.

misterglitch 06-27-2006 09:43 PM

Hey Jam Session forum!

Trigger_003 06-28-2006 04:47 AM

Hey :)

I didn't see any of the Brazil match. I'm too tired to stay up to watch any more matches lol (the kickoff's always at about midnight or 3am here - so pretty much everyone at work has been falling asleep on their desks). I'd like to though, but I've gotta rest up. You got any prospects on who's going to win?

/is indecisive as usual.

Aes820 06-28-2006 05:03 AM

We got ripped off so much.

The reffing against us has been appaling.
Even in that game against the Croats, with the two deliberate hand balls and the dead set 'rugby tackle' on Viduka.
If we didn't get a result out of that match we had full rights to be able to call for a rematch.
It's a shame we cant call for a rematch out of that match against the Italians.

Anyhoo. With the skips out of contention I've lost interest in the cup. So no more late nights and sleepy days at work for me.

My job was put up for a permanancy last weekend and I've been busy preparing my application for it.
People at work say my position is safe. But I still can't help being nervous.

I'm Hollie :) just going into college. I'm a singer, classically trained for a year and a half now. Uhrm, I tend to be influenced more by male singers than female. I don't come from a musical family as such, but my grandma used to be a pianist and my dad has good rhythm.

Oh and I need a job! :/ I'm a part time waitress atm, very low pay. :/

I tend to be mainly into funk/rock/progressive rock. But I'm open to most genres.

Alive 06-28-2006 03:56 PM

England will lose against Portugal, as far as I can see. Germany Vs Argentina will be the best match so far I hope, and France Vs Brazil will be a great one too hopefully, I think Brazil would like some payback for losing the 98 final.

Such crap ugh.

Trigger_003 06-29-2006 05:39 AM

Oh btw, Gav, Chris, Simon, I stuffed around with my permissions for my msn space so if you want, you can finally check that out again now. Namely the last blog I did, even if just the photo. I thought it was rather hillarious.

Hey Hollie! Great to meet you :).

Haha, I'd probably be nervous too, just for the hell of it.
My dad got stuffed around with contracts. He'd finally retired (needed to for Super purposes - it was actually going down even though he was still paying in simply because he was older. The only reasoning he could eventually get out of them was that he was older - therefore not going to live as long - so he wouldn't need as much money...?) and the school was going to give him a contract. They had to advertise the position obviously. There was some other teacher who'd been kicked out basically because he was... warped... and somehow he'd had the position promised to him should it ever be available. They'd much preferred my dad. So the school cancelled the position and said see ya later to my dad very casually on the last day of the year (which tore him up seeing as that's all he got after 25 or so years there). Then they called him in after school had finished and said "ah, we've just, um, realised, that we're going to be short of teachers next year, and it's too late to advertise the position... :shifty:" so he eventually ended up getting the contract.
Anyway I'm sure you'll get it. Who wouldn't want the internationally acclaimed Aes at their work?

I'll try to catch bits and pieces of the soccer once I recover from everything else. Sounds like you're pretty into it Simon. Do you play or just watch?

You into much blues?

Prog rock rules. King Crimson, Pink Floyd; both brilliant bands.

Trigger_003 07-15-2006 10:14 PM

Soo... what's happening everyone?

My cousin's movie "Half Light" (he directed/wrote it - one of my other cousins wrote the music as well) gets released here in 4 days...
Check the trailer: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2443175298989549055

Big time :D

Aes820 07-16-2006 02:12 AM

Woah. That looks really cool.
Big time, indeed.

Not too much is happening with me. I've been doing more work in my front yard for most of today. Am digging it up yet again in readiness for some pavers and edging.

I got my job application finished and submitted, all in all I think it's a solid application, but we'll see how we go in a couple of weeks.
Otherwise, work is still busy. I am half way through redeveloping thesource.gov.au at the moment.

I bought a new rug for the lounge, and an entertainment unit. And next week I turn 25.

That's it from me.
How is everyone else?

Trigger_003 07-16-2006 03:17 AM

Nice, nice, and nice :). And I'm sure your application is fine.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to see it.

25? Are you cereal? Got any plans for that?

I should get into landscaping around the pool and front again, along with working on the house itself (with all my spare time), but this weather is a bit of a put off, I guess.
Grr at you for having a wood heater. :jealousy:

Trigger_003 07-23-2006 12:02 AM

Sorry for the double post but I think I need to wish a certain someone a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

*hugs for Aes*

Hope you're havin a good one :)

Jo Shoe Wah 07-26-2006 07:16 AM

Hey i'm Josh, from Australia, play guitar and currently in a band but that may be moved around shortly :(

I'm really into Blues, Psychedelic Rock, Classic Rock, Prog Rock and somee Metal, as well as interested in Jazz, Eastern Music, Electronic Music and some tasteful underground hip-hop/rap stuff, though mostly Blues and Rock :p

My favourite bands/artists would probably include:

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Jimi Hendrix
Bob Dylan
The Who
Eric Clapton
Stevie Ray Vaughan

And i am quite often found to be listening to one kind of music depending on my mood, lately it's been a hell of a lot of floyd.

Happy Birthday Aes :)

I hope to see you all around

Mild_child 07-26-2006 01:59 PM

Hey, anyone with Cool Edit 2, just a little info...if I was going to make a "live" recording (as in the whole band playing at the same time) Should I just use a mixer and put all the different signals into each track and then send that to Cool Edit on my PC? In Cool edit will it make a track for each signal or will it record all the tracks from my mixer as one track? If I wanted to add more tracks over the one I recorded, how can I do so while still hearing the previous recordings?

Trigger_003 07-26-2006 04:26 PM

Hey Josh :)
You were like, the practically the only one to help out in that songwriting thread, right? Good on ya. I would've, but by the time I'd read through those 8 pages of spam I wasn't in the mood. Maybe I will later... but that thread just supports why I post in Beginner Questions more - haha.

Nice to have you round here as well anyway.

Nice selection of genres there. Btw, what kind of eastern music are you into?

Haha yeah that thread was full of spam, i haven't delved too deeply into eastern music but im really into the album "Dream" by U Srinivas and Michael Brook at the moment, majority of it i've just been introduced to through this site, some of it really is amazing stuff. :)

Are you much into it?

A bit of Eastern like Shakti and so forth - more Eastern fusion than anything though I guess - but I'm moreso into a lot of other types of world music like flamenco and latin...
I can't say I've had as much exposure to it as I'd like. Most of what I've heard is pretty sweet though.

Ah yes i'm very into shakti, and i have a few flamenco albums...i wish i could play guitar like that :amaze: I love listening to that kinda stuff when i want to relax.

World music is so underappreciated in todays western world, though we do a sizeable amount of it in my music class which is pretty cool.

Trigger_003 07-31-2006 02:01 AM

Mmm yeah, playing flamenco is awesome fun :). I'm sure you could if you applied yourself.
I was writing up some flamenco lessons for a while back there (http://www.tdknights.com/trea/flamenco.php if you're interested), but I don't really have the time to work with them much at the moment. Nowhere near as indepth or as extensive as I'd like them to be but oh well. That's what holidays are for.

That's sweet as. My music class only has 7 people in it so there's not much in terms of variety, which is a shame.

OH MY GOD!
Don't remember if I said on here, but we (AYB) were building up to a concert that we did on Sat. And far out! It went awesomely. I don't know if you guys know of James Morrison (trumpet player mostly), but if you do, his bro played with us as one of our guest artists (he's an insane drummer with mad crazy stage tactics in case you don't know of him). He strolls out in the middle of one of our songs, unannounced to the crowd, we cut to the drum break section, and he busts out this crazy solo that went for ages. During it (playing all the while) he grabs the hi-hat and walks it out to the front of the stage and jams on it for a while, then carrying it back (still drumming), proceeds to wander around the band and audience (which ended up being ~1200 people *grin*) hitting random things, all the time doing some of the best drumming solos I've heard in ages.
^ my highlight :p
Our sax soloist busted out a solo something awesome as well. He was only meant to do a few bars and ended up doing quite a few minutes worth - the crowd was going off. He was practically shredding (but musically of course).

Haha, yeah there's my little rant. I won't bore you with all the details, but it was great fun.

Speaking of bands... has Manifest stopped or what, Chris? I noticed the site had gone down, that's all.
How's everyone going with their projects/whatever anyway?

Let me know when you guys are playing live again.

Get me in for free if you can. I'll do your lighting or somthing in exchange.

Pleeeeeease.

Trigger_003 07-31-2006 03:01 AM

Hehe, awesome, thanks heaps for the offer. I'll pass on the message :). I'm not sure whether we'd be able to get much work for you seeing we don't really need lighting or anything too much, but even if we can't, a lot of them are in other bands too so something might come out of that.
