That's pretty weird.
One of the WNJ locations is right were the venue "The Palace" used to be.
Is that The Palace Of Depression? |
youre forgetting one of the best grindcore bands today...DAUGHTERS!!! their cd is 11 songs, and its just over 11 min...so so goood...also circle takes the square, but they have really long songs, and dual male/female vocals.....so crazy, only three people in the band, but it sounds like 5 or 6 they aren't true grindcore, but they would be melodic grindcore if such a thing ever came to be...
Neither band is Grind. |
Neither band is Grind.
theres two types of grind 1) The death metal sort, with the wierdest growls ever. 2) The kind such as daughters, the locust, etc... but ctts isnt grind, try screamo :thumb: |

Real Grind, which is what I think you meant by "The death metal sort", is Punk, not Metal. Napalm Death and Carcass had more in common with Larm and SOB than Death and Possessed. |

What is the daughters, the locust, etc... Your probably the most knowledged noob Ive seen. |
Actually, The Locust and Daughters have grind elements, they're just not completely grind.

I see, what are they then? |
Ever hear the band "Terminally your aborted ghost" It scares me.
They are pretty good. Kind of reminds me of Cattle Decapitation. |
They are pretty good. Kind of reminds me of Cattle Decapitation.
Its good, but that guys growl sounds so... "ahhh" |
I see, what are they then?
People classify them as grind because there really isn't an adequate term to describe those sorts of bands yet. It's a sort of combo of grind and technical punk/metal/hardcore (doesn't matter which), though Locust has some industrial thrown in too. |
Its good, but that guys growl sounds so... "ahhh"
Yeah, its something else. |
Yeah, its something else.
I know it sounds like a ****ing demon or devil or something lol |
Kookie, for an example of why these bands are difficult to classify, listen to some PsyOpus at www.purevolume.com/psyopus. It doesn't really fit into anything other than grind/technical, just because that's the closest you can get genre-wise.

Have you ever listened to Cattle Decapitation? |

Ha, they're pretty much Carcass on steroids. I'd rather get into the freakier stuff than just straight-up grind. |

From what I've read up, they are classified as vegan death metal. |

I see, yeah heard of them before, they are very different It reminds me of dillinger a little bit. |
From what I've read up, they are classified as vegan death metal.
Nah, they even admit they started out as a Carcass ripoff, and Carcass is grindcore. They just call it death metal because grind's really close to that, and because they have lots of gory animal corpses on their albums and their lyrics are the same sort of deal. Theyre vegan, but it doesn't really change the music. Goldfinger's got vegans, too. |

It reminds me of dillinger a little bit.
Yeah, Dillinger, Converge, Coalesce, Botch, Locust, those sort of bands. They become hard to classify, so people just lump them in with grind or tech because it's as close as you get. |

yeah because they are original =) |

Yeah, I just generally don't use lyrics to define a band's genre. I'm not a big fan of the "Christian rock" genre in other words. A band could write about anything, I don't think it should really define their style of music. But that's just me. |

Fair enough. Works for me. |
yeah because they are original =)
Actually, my band has some of those elements, but we're really far from grindcore. So we're working to change the music up even more. |
fear before the march of flames is also genreless, just noticed this cause its playing on winamp. =)

I saw Hot Cross and Bleeding Kansas tonight. Sound sucked (for Hot Cross), but they played well. I brought a bunch of money for the Level-Plane distro, but sadly they didn't have the main album I wanted: Kaospilot. Instead, I got the A Day in Black and White EP, the City of Caterpillar CD, and the Saetia Retrospective, as well as Bleeding Kansas' "Jazzhands" 7", which is out of print. I got it on blue vinyl, too, and apparently they had less than 10 left.
Ever hear the band "Terminally your aborted ghost" It scares me.
What is the daughters, the locust, etc... Your probably the most knowledged noob Ive seen.
I usually just call them Metalcore, but I use that to describe all bands mixing Metal and Hardcore genres. They do have obvious Grind influences, though a lot of the music reminds me of Cynic, Lethargy, Between the Buried and Me, Gorguts, and various other bands. I guess you could call it Grind Metal, seeing as how it mixes the intensity and vocal delivery of Grind with the tight, complex riffing and structure found in Metal. I've heard TYAG, and, to be honest, they bore me. I'm not into Modern DM. |
I like this guy.
|
This guy's like deadtomorrow if he knew what "genre" meant.
Also, he's intelligent. |
I am guilty of it but..
punk isn't a genre its a style ...and the same goes for any other sort of category of Rock... |
This guy's like deadtomorrow if he knew what "genre" meant.

Your like the first noob that started off on the right foot, ever. :thumb: So I guess that makes you NOT a noob, in a way.
