Eye on the TV makes more sense to me.

Well, Danny really went over the top this time. He normally lays back for the singles. I can't wait to hear there non radio friendly songs :D
I'm always exited to hear what electronic pad effects he's going to use.

ThePatient 04-14-2006 11:51 PM

I really don't mean to bitch, because I really really like the song, but I hope all the new songs don't have to do with topics like that. Assuming of course that there's no "secret meaning" behind it. I always relied on Tool to be neutral in their songs in that way.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 12:04 AM

Well we can only hope this is the only one, because it's the single.

Killtacular 04-15-2006 12:04 AM

Oh. My. Gawd.

Leaked single for the win.

Kage 04-15-2006 12:06 AM

The lyrics look very stupid, yet very Maynard. It's like, Maynard writing good lyrics but about a stupid topic.

I haven't downloaded the song and won't, I won't listen to a single second of the album until I have the full official release.

They had stated though that subject matter-wise, this is definitely not Lateralus pt. 2. I was out all night and I'm on the 6th listen now and have no complaints. It gets better each time.

toolfreak 04-15-2006 12:29 AM

I wonder if maynards vocals will be behind the music through the whole album i personally wouldnt mind if they were

I was going to do that, but my day was so horrible I needed the song to hopefully make it bearable. And it more or less worked.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-15-2006 12:39 AM
they found the leak by tripping on LSD and then using a mathmatical equation that pointed out the new Tool song had acutally been leaked since the birth of the anti-christ who is George Bush. they're a deep band yo?
Why are you such an jerk? I mean, do you get kicks out of trying to ruin the fun that other people are having? Do you want Tool fans to invade a Pixies thread and make ignorant and unjustified comments on how 'every one of their songs sounds the same'? I would hope not.

dude that happened like 4 pages ago

I'm Charming 04-15-2006 12:45 AM

Wow. Those are rather emo lyrics.

How did one song leak but not the whole album?

I've never seen that before?

How are those emo lyrics u idiot?

Killtacular 04-15-2006 12:53 AM

Because Vicarious is the single. The label wasn't sending the whole album to radio stations, just the single.
How are those emo lyrics u idiot?
Greetings fanboy.

It's just whining and complaining. It's not "deep" or something like that. It's just Maynards token to sell records.
Because Vicarious is the single. The label wasn't sending the whole album to radio stations, just the single.
Ahh. Okay thanks.

Futuro 04-15-2006 01:07 AM
How did one song leak but not the whole album?

Huber 04-15-2006 01:20 AM

I'm feeling the Meshuggah moments. That song is cool.

Futuro 04-15-2006 01:24 AM

I didn't hear much to be honest :( But Im kinda glad, I didn't want any 5:7 haha.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 01:26 AM

The breakdown part reminded me a bit of them.

magicbus 04-15-2006 01:27 AM

This new single is really great. I love the vocals around 6:30.

Huber 04-15-2006 01:28 AM
I didn't hear much to be honest :( But Im kinda glad, I didn't want any 5:7 haha.
The verses sound a tad 'shuggah, and yes the breakdown did too.

PinkFreud 04-15-2006 01:30 AM

I hear a lot of King Crimson in the parts where it's just the guitar playing the odd-time riff repeatedly. I like. A lot.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 01:30 AM

What i like most about Meshuggah is the use of the china cymbal, I wonder if Danny is going to be using alot of that. I'm sure the Meshuggah influence was pretty exaggerated.

Huber 04-15-2006 01:33 AM

That part is the best part of the song I think.

Huber 04-15-2006 01:36 AM

Sorry if I missed it, but are these drums all electric?

Sleeper 04-15-2006 01:38 AM
Sorry if I missed it, but are these drums all electric?
No, he has a pretty big set up and like 3 to 4 pads.

Futuro 04-15-2006 01:39 AM
Sorry if I missed it, but are these drums all electric?
He doesn't use electronics for drum sounds. But they don't sound like his bubingas thats for sure. With that much transient attack they are probably his paiste cast kit.

Huber 04-15-2006 01:40 AM
No, he has a pretty big set up and like 3 to 4 pads.
Good, because I like the Sonor Hybrid kit, a lot.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 01:40 AM

Dosen't he use electronics for the beginning of Stinkfist and part of Pushit?

Futuro 04-15-2006 01:43 AM
Dosen't he use electronics for the beginning of Stinkfist and part of Pushit?
Yes, But what I meant by that is he would never replace his snare drum with an electric snare sound. get me?
Good, because I like the Sonor Hybrid kit, a lot.
It isn't the same kit I don't think. Compare the verse of Lateralus to Vicarious.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 01:46 AM
Yes, But what I meant by that is he would never replace his snare drum with an electric snare sound. get me?
Yes, thanks for clearing that up for me.

PinkFreud 04-15-2006 01:47 AM

He's not replacing his acoustic kit with entirely electronic drums. He's just incorporating the electronics a bit more, I think.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 01:50 AM

I hope he does include them more, usually my favorite drumming parts from Tool have electronics like the main beat for Reflection.

Futuro 04-15-2006 01:54 AM

Well his Paiste kit and Bubinga are both there. So I would say he probably used both on different songs across the album.

He always has a fantastic drum sound (Sans Pygmy love circus)

His purple pads are so cool.

PinkFreud 04-15-2006 02:02 AM

Yer, I made the mistake of buying a Pygmy Love Circus cd. It was bad. Real bad.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 02:04 AM

I could never get into them.

Futuro 04-15-2006 02:07 AM

Mandalas. 1 cost 1000 dollars

http://synesthesiacorp.com/home.html

Watch some videos. Very cool.

In the third video he shows off the configurable zones. So one pad, can create thousands of different combos of sounds.

Sleeper 04-15-2006 02:10 AM

Now those are nice.
