like skynyrd!
Not really. They do have some Country elements though. I'll try to say a little something about them. |
Who would be an example of Country Rock?
EDIT: Eagles or Byrds?
Steve Earle and the Dukes. I just saw them last night. AMAZING show. :D |
What have I missed in here?
Nevermind. /is almost done reading all I've missed |
like skynyrd!
There's a Lynard Skynard Greatest Hits for 8 bux close by to where I live. Would it be worth getting??

Yep. They are one of the few bands where there greatest hits actually are there best songs. That could be debated though. |

K thanks, that's all the support I needed. It's only 8 bux, so if I don't agree with it, it's not much of a loss |
I made the mistake of buying a greatest hits for The Who. What was I thinking :( Baba o' Riley isn't even on it, and Who's Next? was cheaper.
|

Ouch. :( Was it the 20th Century Masters one? |
Ah Skynyrd is alright, I'm not a big fan.
|
Ouch. :(
Was it the 20th Century Masters one?
those 20th century masters collections are the worst. most only have around 10 songs. |
Ouch. :(
Was it the 20th Century Masters one?
Nah, it was The who - Then And Now! It's not thaat bad, it still has most classics, just no Baba o' Riley :'( |

I made the same mistake I reallly don't think you could make a greatest hits album for The Who. Edit: Well any true fan hates greatest hits albums anyway. |
I only get greatest hits if i know im not heavily into the band or im tryin them out for the first time (unless strongly recommened to get another album).
I did just get best of Jim Croce today though...i hope its good. I dont think theirs one song longer then 4 minutes though. |

They reallly don't serve any other purpose. Can anybody here really think of a greatest hits cd that you bought because you thought it was a good complitation (box sets don't count) |
The Who Ultimate Collection is actually decent. Still doesn't do them justice though.
|
Nah, it was The who - Then And Now!

I think box collections are rip offs unless they have rare Live stuff on them, otherwise people into a band that much own jsut about everything by the band already.
I wish I had Disc 2 of the Led Zeppelin Box Set, it's the only songs I like all on one disc. |
those 20th century masters collections are the worst. most only have around 10 songs.
That's what I got when I was getting into them around June. It only had ten songs, but I thought it was ok. Then a little while ago, I got Who's Next and Tommy, and I haven't listened to the 20th Century Masters since. Baba O' Riley > most songs ever written. |
The Who Ultimate Collection is actually decent. Still doesn't do them justice though.
Yea that is one of the few decent greatest hits if I had to recommend one thats what it would be. Usually I recomend live albums to noobs to the band. I feel they say more about the band. |

Heh, they sell them at Circuit City for about $4.99 so I buy them as primers for people. |

Many box sets are fantastic. Especially the Grateful Dead's most recent. A couple of months ago, I had every Grateful Dead album reissued singularly. That would be S/t - Europe '72 (I'm sure I'm forgetting about a later album), including all live albums inbetween. The Grateful Dead's current box set included every other studio album (Plus extra tracks) and major live album til the end of their career. Those albums could only be bought through the box set. Now, you can think of that as a scheme, but I infact spend lesser money than I would have if I had ordered old copies of the other albums. That is a good box set. |

i got that album, i don't like how they separted Who's Next on it though. |

has anyoen got " O Yeah Ultimate Aerosmith Hits"??? by far the best greatist hits album i have. it was also one of the best sellign greatist hits albums ever.
|
I'm not a big fan of greatest hits albums...although box sets are a gift from god.
I think when I save up some money, I'm gonna go out and spend it all on cool box sets...they seem to be the most worthy thing to spend my money on. edit- Anyone here ever buy those 20th Century Masters cds? I have a couple, and I've mostly been disappointed by them. The Who one has eight songs on it...and you definitely can't sum up a bands career in only eight songs, especially a band like The Who. |

i can. the who ultimate collection the essential stevie ray vaughan the essential janis joplin the very best of cream the best of bb king the queen platinum collection legendary lou reed the essential bob dylan lynyrd skynyrd - thyrty yeah, im a greatest hits whore. i always have other albums by those artists though. theyre mainly for convenience, having most of my favorite songs on one cd instead of switching them all out. |
IMO these are the only worthwhile boxsets.
The Golden Road The Layla Sessions The Jimi Hendrix Experience |
IMO these are the only worthwhile boxsets.
The Golden Road The Layla Sessions The Jimi Hendrix Experience
the Jimi Hendrix Experience is one of my favorite boxsets as well. I would recomend getting it. The other two im not as sure about, but whatever. |
I have a lot of greatest hits.. Aerosmith- O Yeah Ultimate Aerosmith Hits, Led Zeppelin- Early Days, Queen- Greatest Hits, Van Halen- The Best of Both Worlds, Pearl Jam- Rearviewmirror are probably the ones I like most
|

I love that one. He is so high when he ends Purple Haze on the first track its so funny. |
Man its all about Thin Lizzy foo and their long chinned Jay Leno lead singer/bassist guy.
|
Lynnot is awesome. Great Irishman.
"Cowboy Song" by them is one of my favorite songs. |
I like Thin Lizzy.. Jailbreak's a great song
|
I like what I've heard from Thin Lizzy. Which isn't much.
|
Thin Lizzy is actually a band I've heard nothing by. Am I really missing much?
|
Thin Lizzy is actually a band I've heard nothing by. Am I really missing much?
i dont really think so. i dont like them much, except when they had gary moore as a guitarist and that was only because he's...well...he's gary moore. lynnot's vocals get on my nerves. |
It turns out I can buy shrooms from my freind's mom :D....So today I bought:
The Doors of Perception - 4$ Pet Sounds - 7$ The Last Waltz - 20$ Dime - 10$ Life is sweet when you have money :D |
On my computer I have "The Boys Are Back In Town" (Everyone has heard that so to the person above, that is Thin Lizzy) "Jailbreak" and "Cowboy Song"
I like all 3 but I'm scared to get anymore because I probably(definitely) won't like any of it. |
