whoever you are talking about
haha i wish. she wants to play this song called Soco Amaretto Lime by Brand New. anyone heard it? it has one extremely lame three chord guitar part, and horrible off key whiny lyrics. i dont even think it has bass.

edit- and she also shot down my suggestion of Simple Man by Skynyrd.

Illmatic 01-02-2005 09:45 PM

Three guitarists?

That's overkill...

thickasabrick 01-02-2005 09:49 PM

that's not overkill. of course, we really could do it with just two, but we would feel bad if we had to cut someone out.

Hotel California has eight different guitar parts, so basically, three isn't "overkill," it's underkill.

edit- usually what we do, is take a simple song, like Let It Be, and think of a good fingerpicked pattern, and then usually a dual guitar solo. it's actually pretty fun, having another person to solo with, you can do interesting things.

HybridOrigin7 01-02-2005 09:59 PM

The Eagles only have 3 guitarists, so it's not really possible to have 8 parts, unless you meant that the parts we're playing at different times throughout the song.

Illmatic 01-02-2005 10:01 PM

That would make sense.

EDIT: To thick as a brick. And the poster above me, I guess

thickasabrick 01-02-2005 10:08 PM

well they can (and did) lay down eight different guitar tracks in the studio. of course, if you have heard it live, they usually play it much different anyways. if you go to mxtabs, and look through the tabs for it, you will find some chord charts, the live version and the studio version. the studio version has eight different parts.

its easy to play with three, and doesnt sound bad with two. all you really need is an acoustic and an electric.

My favorite band is Rush. Not many people my age (14) like them, but I think they are one of the most talented groups of people ever.

thickasabrick 01-02-2005 10:36 PM

Rush is pretty amazing. Great musicians and songwriters. I've got a couple of their albums, although i usually just listen to their songs on the computer. Definitely one of the greatest trio's of all time.

not to mention being from canada, gotta give them extra points for being hosers.

Hosers? What do you mean by that? I usually accociate that word with ripping off a genre.

Badmoon 01-02-2005 10:49 PM

Do you mean Hoisers. Cause that's people from Indiana. Incase you did mean that.

I really need to invest in Rush. From what I've heard they're badass, but I never really got into them (have only one song). Any album recommendations?

clown_phobia 01-03-2005 02:38 AM

Do you think that the Beatles' first album would have done any where near as well if it was released today?

No. Its two different eras but who knows.

Back from Mex. :)

I haven't herad alot of Rush to judge but so far I have herad a few songs off Moving Pictures and wasn't impressed but got this 60's tribute by them and it was pretty good.

Distant Echoes 01-03-2005 09:53 AM

Moving Pictures is my Favorite album by rush...I thought it was great. Didnt expect much when i picked it up of a CVS clearence rack though, but it was good.

I got Vapor Trails the other day, and i was still impressed, even for an album released in 2002. Most bands suck after almost 30 years, if they can even exsist that long. Rush is the top selling band in albums (i read), and the only that survived for this long without regrouping or breaking apart, and yet hasnt been on the cover of Rolling Stones once.

I wouldnt want to either, I hate that ****ing magazine

Kingadamx 01-03-2005 01:15 PM

I'm sorry but Rush is just one band that I absolutely cannot stand. I can respect the talent of Neil Peart, but that's about it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-03-2005 01:21 PM

I just got Bob Dylan Live 1966 (Bootleg Seris Vol. 4) with a free Chronicles sampler (features 6 songs and 2 unreleased tracks). :)

*is happy*

Edit: Are you guys here today?

Yea, I really like that one it's got some cool covers on it. You should check out 2112 and Fly by Night, I think they're Rush's best.

Broken Arrow 01-03-2005 02:59 PM

Yesterday I was locked out of mx. It was slow all the time.

Any way.....Friend of the Devil is my new favourite song.

I like some rush, neil's drum solo's are good, but ALot of their stuff I'm not really interested in, alot prbaby has to do with geddy's voice.

That's understandable.

It doesn't bother me for some reason.

I don't mind his voice either but I know alot of people that hate it

I like it alot for some songs, but it just doesn't suit them all.

jpj 01-03-2005 03:13 PM

I personally don't find anything wrong with his voice, but that's just me. He makes up for it with his kickass bass playing anyway.

shortass 01-03-2005 03:14 PM

Yep I tried learning YYZ the other day. Way out of my league :upset:

jpj 01-03-2005 03:17 PM

Yea, I was just trying to play it a little bit ago. It's just played too damn fast.
