I love Fight Fire With Fire, thrash, death, destruction, solos. Doom, in a good way.
|
My favorite is probably One - It's written really well, it's got a kick *** solo, and a decent drum part
|
Yea, it would be really hard for me to choose a favorite metallica song. It would be either battery, fade to black, seek and destroy, motorbreath, one, sanitarium, or call of ktulu.
|
I guess find the one that has the music and lyrics that appeal most to you.
|
It is impossible for me to name my favorite, to many to choose from
I just choose the ones i listen to most at that time. |
Favourite songs are:
Damage Inc: For the intro, kick-a$$ solo (i love it when James says "GO!" just before the solo, and the breakdown riff before the solo owns) Fade to Black: For obvious reasons Seek and Destroy: Easily the best song when played live, so cool. Especially on Live Sh*t when its like 20 mins long  Battery: Just for the coolest riff of metallicas history, and the acoustic intro is the best. Creeping Death: Just really like this one |
to me the unforgiven relates to me more than any other 'tallica song, but my fav song would have to be wherever i may roam. i just love it and i enjoy jump in the fire especially. as you can tell i love old 'tallica.

Only one of them songs is true old metallica. I would class unforgiven and wherever i may roam as newer tallica, but they are still some of the coolest songs :thumb: |
ok i see. i also love kill 'em all and ride the lightning. mustaine did a good job of call of the ktulu, but hammett probaly couldve made it better.

I'm not sure if Mustaine wrote much on that. I know he did one of the broken chord intros and i think he did the solos. Probably wrong though. |

I dunno, i like call of ktulu how it is, but i also think that Hangar 18 > Call of Ktulu. But i dont wanna get into the whole mustaine thing coz it comes up too often in here already. Yeah, im a sucker for the older metallica, just prefer the thrashier heavy sound they used to have. One good thing can be said about new metallica tho, James' voice is sooooo much better now, just look at Garage Inc disc 1 on songs like Lover Man and Astronomy, he voice is one of my favs of all time. |
Oh man Loverman has got to be the best song on disc 1
LOVERMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!! |
Oh man Loverman has got to be the best song on disc 1
LOVERMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
Really? I don't like it that much. |
Oh man Loverman has got to be the best song on disc 1
LOVERMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!
Lover Man is sooooo under-rated. That song is class, the coolest vocals, not too inpressive with the instuments but still, i dont know why, but when i play it loud it always makes my the hairs on my arm stand up lol. "...R is for RAPE ME! M is for MURDER ME!..." |
yea that is one way to put it.

james had an excellent voice and still does but i just think he might be trying too hard on saint anger. as far as i know he can still sing pretty good live.

i think his voice on saint anger really sucks
Agreed I do think he had a better voice for the thrashy stuff in the 80s, but for the ballads and stuff and just all-round his voice was at its peak on Garage Inc. Just my opinion, he also had the best metal voice at about ride the lightning-master of puppets time. |
I love james' voice on st. anger. Especially in songs like my world and sweet amber. It is definetely more intense, and if they can come up with some sweet solos, riffs, and drum beats, no doubt their next album will be great.

another good songs i enjoy are fight fire w/ fire and fade to black. those are real classics.

i disaggree, i don't like james voice in this album, his vocal perfomance in the black album it's better than past or later works. |
I can't say I hate his voice on St. Anger cause that's his live voice. On earlier albums he used a voice distortion machine to give his voice a boost, which he didn't use live, that's why his voice changes from CD to live.

not exactly, in the live ****, you can really hear james top vocals, and the vocals are not too different from the black album. |
I'm sorry, what vocals are close to Black's, it flew over my head.

...And Justice for all and Load are the closest to the black album. but the live shit: binge and purge, are very similar to the black album, pure james power. |

but the live shit: binge and purge, are very similar to the black album, pure james power.
I agree, in binge and purge he is a really good frontman. If you look at all the live shows they do and the dates they performed them you will notice how much more professional the band sound as they go through their 23 years They no longer seem to have that rough edge to them though :upset: It will be interesting to hear this new album next year I think for most it will be their judgement album. |
No I mean listen to his voice, it seems more clear, and not as shaky on CD. Listen to really old live performances, like Metal Mlitia. Man, you wanna talk about change, that production made James seem like an opera star, compared to what it was.

I couldn't agree more... And I can't really think of any other albums ect: that sound like black vocal wise... I personally think alot of miming and editing go on with their music. It would be interesting to see them play with no production van at the side of the stage... If you watch Cunning Stunts disk 1 they do an intro for a few minuites, they play a few riffs and a bit of Lepper Missiah.. I have noticed on the intro there on one part the camera is on lars.. You hear a very distinct crash cymbal and he doesn't hit it at all.... At first I assumed it was Jason on the other kit they had there... But... one bar after that incident Lars hits the crash cymbal quite hard and you hear no sound come from it  I will get the exact time later and post it... seems very odd |
Maybe it's a glitch in the disk.
|
wasnt cunning stunts two shows merged into one ?
|
Yeah it was over a course of 2 days.
|
If cunning stunts was edited... and i think it is to in parts, why couldn't they fix the ending solo for 'one' Kirk Cops massive d*ck in that part, he's like 2 seconds behind where he should be with the rest of the song :(
|
Well yea But that happens Live...and don't you wanna see the real thing?
on cliff em all I love How the roadie gets Kirks Guitar back...that was awsome |
Does anyone know any connections between the Lovecraft book The Call Of Cthulhu and The Call of Ktulu? Ktulu is just another way to say Cthulhu (I think), so I assume they are related.

call of ktulu was originally called when hell freeze, but the lovercraft book, have a deep impact on hetfield and burton, so they decided to call it call of cthulhu, but then, some copyright issues were involved, ending as the result: The Call of Ktulu. You can also hear some of the book influence in the song The Thing That Should Not Be. |
They have so many reasons why they shouldn't suck, they are influenced by GBH and Discharge, and also had the bassist from Suicidal Tendencies at one point, and yet they still seem to suck.

I think they recorded it in two parts and put the best audio for a song with the best video. It's painfully obvious in One, the whole song is out of sync. |

Cool, now what was the point of that? |
Don't they still have the bassist of Suicidal Tendencies?
