Jonny - All of my other cardioid dynamics run fine with phantom power why would an SM57 be any different?
not entirely sure, just know its not that good for them / the signal, and if you're getting popping noises when plugging / unplugging, its usually the phantom :)

try turning it off, if it still does it i dunno...

fishbulb 06-02-2008 05:14 PM

I need it on for my condensers though. I have phantom on channels 1-6 so i'll try it on 7 or 8 and see how it sounds.

BummerJonny 06-02-2008 05:18 PM

yea, plan :)

i'm pretty sure that'd be your problem. condensers have all their fancy pants circuitry to use the 48v, whereas dynamics dont. and i cant see 48v of power running through a sensitive piece of equipment being good...

DrumIntoTheNight 06-03-2008 11:09 AM

Welcome back MX.

...again.

Even though I try to avoid running my dynamics through my phantom channels, when I have I usually have no problems.

The only mics that would suffer from phantom power are usually ribbons. Dynamics tend to be immune.

Retarded Chipple 06-03-2008 01:13 PM

Guys.....

if I bought some velcro trainers, would I look like I was a bit...."special"?

Win A Rabbit 06-03-2008 01:15 PM

velcro shoes are pretty pwn.

Retarded Chipple 06-03-2008 01:18 PM

Cool

Was thinkin of getting these as like a back up pair....they're uber cheap and vegan friendly but I don't wanna look like a complete reject.

Panopticon 06-03-2008 01:25 PM

you're a wooden dildo ffs, i dont think you have to worry about looking like a reject just because you have velcro shoes.

Retarded Chipple 06-03-2008 01:29 PM

Lolz

But serious, i have a major dilemma here....

Undisco Kidd 06-03-2008 01:38 PM

are you buying some macbeths? because velcro or not, those look pretty lame most of the time

Retarded Chipple 06-03-2008 01:45 PM

No, I'm not buying Macbeths....hadn't even heard of them.

Undisco Kidd 06-03-2008 01:57 PM

they're hipster vegan shoes.

Little Android Man 06-03-2008 02:45 PM

wtf are tags?

Retarded Chipple 06-03-2008 02:55 PM
they're hipster vegan shoes.
Yeah, I looked em up. They're not really my kinda thing, I'm more into skater-esque sorta shoes.

They are only affected if the microphones are unbalanced right?

Seafroggys 06-03-2008 03:48 PM

I'm not sure, to be honest. Might want to ask Moseph or Chemist, or go over to homerecording.com.

Janeway 06-03-2008 04:19 PM

Oh crap oh crap oh crap.

My friggen' Mennonite cousins are going to come over.

i wear macbeths and im no hipster...
they used to make skate type shoes. i guess they dont anymore...=\

Sponer 06-03-2008 08:33 PM

the place I go doesn't really have anything but the "big" names, and I could never order a shoe online without trying it on first. i seem to always end up with sketchers. I just had to buy a pair of shoes a few weeks ago to replace my ripped sketchers. and I bought another pair of sketchers. it was the only pair I could that was wide enough (in my size) and had a flat sole.

And then just the other day I had to get work boots with steel tips. most comfortable pair i tried? sketchers. and that's what I bought.

Evans HQ Apprentice Practice Pad = best for the money o_o

Sunshine 06-04-2008 10:38 AM

These new tag things are pretty gay.

Panopticon 06-04-2008 10:41 AM

what tag things

Sunshine 06-04-2008 10:44 AM

Next to the Drum Stronghold, it says "casual," and in the pit there's a shitton of 'em, and it looks messy and gay and out of place.

Like the pit's L&R has a tag "chaindrive is a cunt," etc.

Panopticon 06-04-2008 10:46 AM

lame
