I like the AJFA album a lot especially becuz of To Live is to Die and One but the thing is is that the drums just sound horrid in my opinion. If u listened to blackened, after the intro the drums first come in hitting the snares and it sounds do ugly and like they are out of tune or somethin. I just find that Lars made them extremely basic with no difficulty. Some of my fellow metallica frends who play drums told me they luv to play metallica becuz most of the drumming is very basic in their old school stuff. The only tune I like in AJFA for the drums is Dyers Eve which sounds like Lars worked his *** of to write

Jev 07-28-2005 09:20 AM

Lars used studio musicians for some of his drumming, even though it was very basic he couldn't play it sometimes.

It might be out by the end of the year. Or something could happen like what happened during the recording of St Anger.

benfan 07-28-2005 10:23 AM

anyone got any news about it, because metallica's site is sh.it

i thought that was just a rumor

fatbandit 07-28-2005 11:38 AM

Hmm. His drumming on AJFA (and actually, for the whole band's music) was probably the most complex...

And I don't think he worked his arse off to write Dyer's Eve. Its not written well, its just fast.

Yeah i love blackened, altho i think the solo sound is a little thin. The tone is just not good, it needs to be more ballsy

Jev 07-28-2005 03:37 PM

I think everything needs improving.

Talos 07-28-2005 03:44 PM

Yeah man, Metallica. Ive always had all their albums because i heard they rocked. I could never be bothered to listen to them, but now i have. My fav. band ATM. Im always changing though

I speak to the lead singer of Beatallica, he is good friends with Dream Theater and Metallica so I know the real facts :thumb:

They are just on the verge of hitting the studio and have not yet recorded anything with intent to put on disk. They are hoping for a release early next year but they were thinking about waiting till nearer summer to increase sales and set them up for a tour or two.

Sweet, although it might not be entirely true. Their latest albums have taken a while to record and produce, and I doubt they would plan to release their album in 6 months when they didn't even start working on it. If they were to release early next year, jan/feb, that's about 6 months. Oh well, we'll see.

When they go into the gas station to get beer and Kirk
grabs whatever that was so it looks like he's stealing it
I thought that was funny

Then they go into creeping death

Same, Orion is awesome.

I gotta say that my favorite metallica song is Battery, the riff after the solo is so metal. I sont kno if a lot of u hav listened to the whole tune cuz no one ever really talks about it. I've been working on the solo for about a day or two I master each piece b4 i can do the whole thing and it is NOT easy, plus the main riff really helps ur speed turn up a notch.

My second favorite tune would hav to be Creeping Death becuz I luv how James and Jason (Binge and Purge San Diego) get all the fans screaming DIE,DIE,DIE at the interlude its sooo insane. I also like how Kirk adds in little lead liks in the song, not just live cuz he does that for every tune but on the recording version he does it mor than he does on most songs

Jev 07-30-2005 08:53 AM

I've heard Battery all the way through, i think most people who've posted in this thread have.
My favourite Metallica song is Damage Inc. I love the long intro, then the thrash and i love the solo, fits the song perfectly.
My second favourite is Metal Militia, i love the intro slide and the verse guitar parts and i love that bit after the solo when the guitar and drums stop and you hear Cliff play a bar on bass. the solo lets it down a bit though.

hallowed_ironmaiden 07-30-2005 01:38 PM

It is impossible for me to name my favorite, to many to choose from
