There are various types of DSL too, my friend has this real crappy kind that's a lot slower than cable.

DSL sucks balls.

DSL is slower because it still runs on telephone lines.

DSL stays at a constant speed all the time, where as in Cable it can be slowed down depending on how many people around you have cable. But even in an are with alot of people with cable it's still fast as hell.

It's supposed to be. Cable is a community shared connection, meaning that everyone in your area that has cable internet shares your internet. DSL however, is a closed connection. It runs though your phone line meaning only you use it. I have mid-range DSL. It's about the same speed as cable, but it slows down sometimes.

How cable works is a certain amount of bandwith is given to an area. The more people who are connected to it the more bandwith is used and if to much gets used it slows down for you.

But ultimately Cable is faster than DSL just because only so much info can be sent through telewires.

Yeah thats good, I'm at about 5000 but thats probably because this cable company like owns my area. Anything above 2000 is good. Most cable runs between 3-7.

Thats like 5400kbs, thats faster than my cable, I doubt DSL gets that.

My current speed is:

100.0 Mbps

Do the speedcheck and tell me what it says, it gives it in kbs.

614.4 Kbps
