Ah, James' and Kirk's rigs will be expensive. Ever seen how many cabs they have sometimes? And they both have a good few custom guitars. Though whether they bought them or were gifted them, I'm not sure.

Alright, so you were comparing Lars' rig to... what? A non-pro's rig? Like my ideal non-pro rig? Mine's probably as expensive, if not moreso...?

And yes, at this point, music is a huge part of my life, and its how I want to earn my living. I see making it in a band as necessary to achieve these ends. But not to the point of sacrificing my integrity and playing pop-punk or something... Everyone wants their band to be heard, afterall... Why be underground for the sake of it? :p

hethamulburton 07-27-2005 03:33 PM

I never said give up your style, I mean to keep a firm style.

O man I did, I hit 1000 pages and 1000th post at same time, it must be a sign.

PepsiMetal 07-27-2005 03:34 PM

Yea if you're planning on being a musician as your career, then you can't afford to be underground, otherwise you would have to work some other job.

The_dude 07-27-2005 03:34 PM

ya ur a luky dude burton

Britton 07-27-2005 03:34 PM

That's great man but Like a good friend of mine (who makes a living off his music)
told me that you should always have a backup plan

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:34 PM

hethamulburton, I already gig. I already have a gigworthy rig. Its just not exactly what I want for tonal domination yet!

Yea wanna post some of your band stuff?

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:36 PM

I'm worried I'll never get to make a living out of being in a band though... The backup plan will probably be in effect before the primary plan for that reason :upset:

Still, saying it'll never happen won't get you anywhere. You need the take no crpa attitude, and the drive to succeed.

:)

Congrats on 1001.

Britton 07-27-2005 03:38 PM

I can't wait to record my bands album

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:38 PM

I could post some of my old band's stuff (or I'd rather do it over MSN... YSI smells), but I didn't like punk, or the band, so I left. This new band has only just started. I'm not sure it'd be the one to take me into a living in music yet either, but its a start :) Actually metal for a change :) We have no good recordings yet, but we're recording a demo/EP at the end of August/Early September, so I'll keep you posted!

:smash:

PepsiMetal 07-27-2005 03:38 PM

Cliff em all plays great here. Just download VLC player, and it'll play it. That player has like all codecs built into it.

sweet how old are you>?

Huber 07-27-2005 03:39 PM

Sheesh, that 1000th page didn't last very long at all.

Britton 07-27-2005 03:39 PM
Sheesh, that 1000th page didn't last very long at all.
Nope and neither did the other six pages it took to get their

Joe 07-27-2005 03:40 PM
Go ahead dude let your rig spill out in words.
lol, well first i'll just finish up what the other guys were sayin. i'd love to make a living playing rock n metal, except i doubt it would happen (besides, my band is very slow and they like ska n punk...all metallica fans though)

ok so i've got...

$2000 worth of guitars (Martin, Jackson, Epiphone, Squier, Harmony???)
$1000 worth of amps (Line 6, Fender, Crate)
$400 worth of pedals (Boss Metal Zone and Super Chorus, Dunlop Hendrix Crybaby)
and probably some more stuff i'm forgetting
I can't wait to record my bands album
I record my own stuff, but I just can't get my band to record anything. The drummer's neighbor record's for a living and I hear we might get recorded for free (which would be great) except the bassist is going to college so I think we'll all kinda fall apart

The_dude 07-27-2005 03:40 PM

wait burton y edit my stuff more

hethamulburton 07-27-2005 03:40 PM
Nope and neither did the other six pages it took to get their
The next 6 will prob be the same.

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:41 PM

The backup plan? For now, sixth form, then University. That takes me into my early 20's with no need for a career choice yet. I've not decided what I want to do. Or rather, I don't want to have to do any 'normal' jobs, hence my decision for being big in music :)

Yeh, this rig did about a dozen gigs with my last band. About to do the second with my new band.

Due to more pedals etc, I imagine guitar rigs are far more expensive than bass ones too!

:smash:

hethamulburton 07-27-2005 03:41 PM
wait burton y edit my stuff more
I didn't say that, it was someone else.

Britton 07-27-2005 03:42 PM

Wow it sound like your amps arent that great...what type are they?

any heads or cabs?

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:43 PM

And I'm 16. Been playing 2 and a half years. And after meeting some other MX bassists up in Scotland, it makes me think I should be better for how long I've been playing. It makes me think I'm not awful, they're just exceptional though!

:smash:

The_dude 07-27-2005 03:43 PM

ill tell wat gtar is awesome a randy rhoads flying v one of the members of my band has that it kiks *ss
Wow it sound like your amps arent that great...what type are they?

Meh, 150 Watt Line 6 (great tone), 50 Watt Fender (average tone), 15 Watt Crate (great tone) but no heads or cabs. I was thinking about getting a half stack, but I decided I'd rather spend money on recording supplies so I stuck with the Line 6
ill tell wat gtar is awesome a randy rhoads flying v one of the members of my band has that it kiks *ss
Yea it's pretty awesome. I have a lower model jackson, the RR was 300+ over my budget. Advise for anyone that wants to buy a jackson, if you play rock or metal make sure you get good sound in your bends because on mine it sucks

Britton 07-27-2005 03:44 PM

That's Great um let me see....Im 16 too my bands been together about 5 or 6 months and
mx is the only website in the world

:smash:
I think it's all about how much you play, I've been playing for over 3 years, practiced everyday for 3-4 hrs. sometimes less sometimes more, just a mean. I have jammed with other guitarists and found I was better than some and worse than others who played longer in terms of years than me.

Britton 07-27-2005 03:46 PM

Okay yea that's a nice setup but yea you might wanna trade soma that stuff
out for a halstack....but then again recording is more important

Britton 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

Oh and if you get a jackson dean etc etc etc pay more for the floyd rose

The_dude 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

ya true burton cuz u can play for 20 years and play one day a weak and that person would suk prolly more then a player who played for 2 years everyday

Huber 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

I don't see how guitar rigs etc... are expensive as drum kits. If you're including amps and all that, you have to include drum mics, hardware, percussion instruments, heads (if they didn't cost you about 100 bucks, they probably aren't worth it).

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

My opinion? I don't like V's!

I only have one bass and one amp... (My squier amp and bass both broke ¬_¬)

The amp is a combo, but that's not a bad thing... The DB900 i'd want is a combo too. Combos are good :) The DB500 I have can get any tone you want out of it (and digitally records the settings...), especially combined with the EQ on my bass.
