Prince of Darkness 07-17-2006 06:07 AM

The new song is ok, it's growing on me.

blackthorne 07-17-2006 06:26 AM

the new song rocks

Surtr 07-17-2006 07:33 AM

Just heard the song, I love it.

The intro is a cross between BNW (Reminds me of Ghost Of The Navigator) and like you guys said X-Factor. The rest is pure BNW/DoD Maiden.

PAJJ 07-17-2006 08:06 AM

mmm i see the x factor, but it doesn't heavily remind me of it, but does it remind anyone else of the age of innocence?

Surtr 07-17-2006 08:11 AM

Yeah, parts do really scream out that Age Of Innocence parts..But it's all together this X-Facter/DoD intro Hybrid and then full out DoD style.

PAJJ 07-17-2006 08:13 AM

yeah i'll go with that, not that any of that matters it still just plain rocks.

I really liked the video aswell, will be cool when we finally get to see it properly, and all that.

crag 07-17-2006 08:24 AM

all you people who didn't like it are upsetting me :(

It's the only song i've listened to all day, i absolutely love it.

I guess this album is gonna be either loved or hated :(

Prince of Darkness 07-17-2006 10:21 AM

Has the song leaked or is it just the video on Youtube?

PAJJ 07-17-2006 10:40 AM

it hasn't leaked the band posted the video on their website

I smiled all throughout the song.

Prince of Darkness 07-17-2006 12:11 PM

Iron Maiden has now officially taken over my life and playlist.

Arpanet 07-17-2006 01:04 PM

This song is awwwwesome. Steve's long intros drove me nuts on DOD, but this one is really beautiful and haunting. But ****, after the song kicks in... it's SOOO HEAVY. And not just heavy for Maiden, like actually heavy. That riff at the end is insane. I loved The X-Factor, so maybe that has something to do with it. Like people have said, it's not supposed to be Run to the Hills or Aces High. It starts slow, it's plodding, that's the point. It builds. The 4:30 groove, the 4:55 harmony, the Davey solo - they're so powerful. If the rest of the album is this good I'll be ecstatic.

Anyone else think the sound is much better than DOD? The drums sound crisp and punchy, even through the crappy video compression, and the guitars are big and loud. I'm really excited.

Jefe 07-17-2006 01:31 PM

It reminds me of Ghost of the Navigator as well. I think this just plain sounds like Maiden. It's definitely not one of my favorite songs of theirs, but it can stand up to their previous stuff, which can't be said for a lot of bands later albums. Iron Maiden has so much to live up to, its amazing they can keep sounding fresh. I think if I had never heard Iron Maiden before though, and heard this song, I wouldn't think much of it. I hope the rest of the songs on the album are better.

Shattered_Future 07-17-2006 01:41 PM

The only thing that bothers me is Maiden needs to learn how to mix solo guitar parts HIGHER. You can barely hear them...

Bub 07-17-2006 02:10 PM

this is gonna be one hell of a singalong song live, I'll be there at Sheffield in December singing my lungs out. I like the whole heavyness to it, a nice...almost progressive style...but I think Maiden need a bit more pace than this to work with. Its not exactly plodding, but its not an exciting speed. Good song, I'm satisfied, and you know the album;s gonna have faster ones on...this just tells us they've still got it!

wrathchild88 07-17-2006 03:26 PM

Being as it is the single release, I think its safe to assume that its not the best that they have to offer. At least I hope it isn't.

Not saying that it was a bad song, but it didn't really get going until about 4 minutes in.

the_uber_penguin 07-17-2006 04:08 PM

Just seen the video for TROBB.

Please excuse me while I clean my computer screen...

Surtr 07-17-2006 06:43 PM

I like the music, but afterwords it still feels as if it hasn't left an impression on me.

pate 07-17-2006 07:27 PM

...because they sure do mix their own albums.

Shadows 07-17-2006 07:39 PM

The band still has a huge hand in the mixing and producing processes, even if they don't do it all themselves.

Surtr 07-17-2006 07:42 PM

First off, Steve decides how he wants the sound 99% of the time. He may not actually mix it, but if he doesn't like how it sounds, then he'll make them change it.

Second off, I think by Maiden, he just meant the whole crew/gang all together.

This is where I am. But it's just the single, as we know.

Josh 07-18-2006 10:20 AM

i loved the song when i heard it :) i may go watch it again now...

the mix is miles better than on DoD (IMO), i just can't wait for the album now!!

but right now, i have tomorrow night's GNR gig to look forward to

blue3 07-18-2006 11:19 AM

Lucky bastard. Have fun seeing GNR.

moomooemu 07-18-2006 11:49 AM

where can I listen to the new single?

Prince of Darkness 07-18-2006 11:52 AM

go to Youtube

Shattered_Future 07-18-2006 12:52 PM
I figured, I just wanted to be an ***.
Well aware. :p

That's what bothered me about some stuff on BNW. Great songs, but you can't really hear the lead parts.

Shadows 07-18-2006 07:03 PM

Since I'm somewhat new in these parts, I hope you guys don't mind if I ask you a few questions.

1. What's your favorite Maiden album?
2. What's your least favorite Maiden album?
3. What do you think of Brave New World?

I hope you don't mind my mini-questionarre. :p

Deth 07-18-2006 07:04 PM

1. Seventh Son
2. That I've heard completely, Fear of the Dark
3. Amazing
