Well, guitar's kinda plain y'know? It's nothing new or anything. Kinda boring.

What'd you get so frustrated about?

no its not, have you heard the new mars volta?!

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 09:48 PM

Is the new TMV good?

I couldn't get much out of FTM. :-\
Haha, no kidding.

I used to HATE practicing. But something changed, and now I've been crazy about piano. I want a keyboard, new sheet music, I don't understand haha.
I only find it fun when I'm playing songs I like. Like earlier, I was trying to make my own piano version of Cute without the E. It was fun.

I play lots of classical stuff so it gets boring and repetitive sometimes. I have good enjoyable pieces though.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-17-2006 09:48 PM

Nah, and I don't plan to.

Don't get me wrong, they have great songs and stuff, but they aren't something I'd listen to on a daily basis.

Justin: De-Loused in the Comatorium has great stuff.

Mute Print 07-17-2006 09:48 PM
What'd you get so frustrated about?
Eh, I'm used to being able to learn things really quickly. Most things come easily to me.

Unfortunately, guitar wasn't one of those things. I had to put a lot of work into it, and didn't really get anywhere. :-\

-

I don't like The Mars Volta much at all.

Fish 07-17-2006 09:49 PM

guitar came pretty quickly too me, i got stay together for the kids down, after the first week

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-17-2006 09:49 PM

Oh, I see.

Yehh, I guess it does take lots of practice.

I hate learning unusual chords, it hurts my fingers and ****.

Bass is so much better though. My fingers are nimble enough to move for bass, but not for playing chords.

Fish 07-17-2006 09:50 PM

like what? :p G?

Mute Print 07-17-2006 09:50 PM
guitar came pretty quickly too me, i got stay together for the kids down, after the first week
I may have to try teaching myself a little bit, and try learning songs like that.

I took lessons, but I hadn't even heard some of the songs I was supposed to be learning, so that made it worse. :-\

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-17-2006 09:50 PM

Haha, yeah.

I tried to play some Michelle Branch, and it's hard work.

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 09:51 PM

Hehe, I don't know too many chords beyond the basics. Like when they ask for a Bbm6/E(not really a chord I don't think), I'm lost.

Fish 07-17-2006 09:53 PM

yeah i didnt start taking lessons until after 2 years, my teacher was showing me stuff like Steve Morse.

I like how i didnt go straight into lessons though, because i could mix my own made up style with the theory that I was being taught, and its pretty cool. My friend who i taught guitar for like 3 days, was playing this 2 note power chord riff, and i just solo'd over it for like 15 minutes

edit: like once you know the theory like.. where you can play and the different modes and keys then you're set.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-17-2006 09:54 PM
Hehe, I don't know too many chords beyond the basics. Like when they ask for a Bbm6/E(not really a chord I don't think), I'm lost.
Haha.

Yeah, I don't like tabs that don't show the chords actually tabbed out.

Yeah, A minor? What the ****? C major?

Fish 07-17-2006 09:55 PM
Haha, yeah.

yeah my girlfriend learned something from michelle branch

..i hope this wont be a double post *prays*

edit: w00t!

chels Am and C are like some of the most common chords..

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-17-2006 09:56 PM

Lawl.

You're still with that girlfriend of yours?

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 09:56 PM
Yeah pretty much.

I mainly stick to major and minor keys since that's what most songs I listen to are in.

Chels: Well, not that bad, but I have to look up chords quite a bit.

Dave: God heard you.

Fish 07-17-2006 09:57 PM
Lawl.

why is that funny?

justin: ... yes.. :)

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-17-2006 09:57 PM

I know that they're common chords, but I've never gotten an guitar lesson, only bass.

Edit: The double-post part was funny.

Fish 07-17-2006 09:58 PM

:D

bass is cool, we should start a band

kgo!

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-17-2006 10:00 PM

lol k.

I'm gonna go to bed after this song.

Goodnight, MX. <3

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 10:00 PM

Haha, I read a bunch of guitar books and had to tune my moms old classical guitar by ear on the piano. Not too fun.

I've never taken lessons. :D

I didn't learn about harmonics for a long while though.

Night Chels.

Fish 07-17-2006 10:01 PM

night chels

how long can you possibly spend on harmonics? or are you talking like natural or artificial?

form 07-17-2006 10:02 PM

i never took lessons either, i wouldnt/dont want too

i perfer just learning from tabs, or do what i do most, make my own songs

Fish 07-17-2006 10:07 PM

yeah thats what i did for 2 years. But it came to a point where i taught myself basically all i could without having someone who knew what he was doing to guide me farther.

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 10:10 PM
First natural, then artificial.

I mean I didn't even know about them. I was just picking/strumming.

After learning about them more, it became easier to tune.
But it came to a point where i taught myself basically all i could without having someone who knew what he was doing to guide me farther.
Same here. I read some of the lessons on MX as well. Never got sweeping down though. ;)

Fish 07-17-2006 10:11 PM

yeah sweeping is okay, im working on alt. picking instead of sweeping

form 07-17-2006 10:13 PM

i working on pinky strength/cordination

im a lefty playing right so my pinky is fukin retarded

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 10:14 PM

Ooh, like hybrid picking and stuff. I tried that with the Hoobastank song The Reason. Never got the timing right though. Pretty confusing.

Mattay: Why don't you get a lefty guitar or flip it like Hendrix did?

Fish 07-17-2006 10:15 PM

yeah, ive been working on Tumeni Notes - Steve Morse, you should check that song out

cause hendrix was black.

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 10:16 PM

Hmm, will do.

I'll check UG.

i think im good now, i play fine with the rest of my fingers, i just never used my pinky, but its coming a long

oic

haha, the guy actually did go for a carrot.

Dave: That song is wicked long by the looks of the tabs. I need to find it in slsk

Fish 07-17-2006 10:26 PM

dont judge a song on its tab justin, you should know better

yeah, that kid is weird

DJ Ducksauce 07-17-2006 10:27 PM

I meant note wise.

Is it played 200bpm? Looks fun.

Silly nubs.

Lawl, I just got the title of the song.

Tu Meni Notes. Clever.

form 07-17-2006 10:30 PM
