Which is a good thing.
How is that a good thing?!

Anyways, turns out it needed a bit of time to buffer. That was...different. I liked it...it was very evil in parts, yet it still had some of that classic Maiden feel in others. Hats off to Mr. Harris, who even after multitudes of albums can still write some great songs.

Quiksilver26 07-16-2006 05:19 PM

I'm so glad i checked back on this thread :).

It wasn't really what i expected, though i really don't know what i expected... the video was meh imo, but the song was awesome. Just makes me want to hear the full album even more.

EDIT: Just listened to the song without the video, much better :p

I meant that it sounded like the X-Factor.

/listens for the 8th time.

Psyclone 07-16-2006 05:53 PM

I get the video, but there isn't any music to go with it. It's like it's on mute (which it really isn't).

Daven 07-16-2006 06:11 PM

Damn! That song is very good.

Arucard 07-16-2006 06:21 PM

That is EXACTLY why Iron Maiden are the best and most respected band in the history of metal.

They never cease to amaze me!

UP THE Fucking IRONS

Good song, feels like the bastard child between X-Factor and Bruces solo stuff, with a Sordid affair with FoTF, so X-Factor doesn't know who the father is...

Feels like it's lacking something. I'll give it another listen. But I can say one thing for certain, if they release that, it'll flop

Psyclone 07-16-2006 07:10 PM

Wait... now it's working.

Shadows 07-16-2006 07:12 PM
Never too late, Ben. :)

This new song is good, but it's more like X-Factor than Dance Of Death.
Good, because I would hate to miss out. :) I've downloaded Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and I'm hooked.

pate 07-16-2006 07:13 PM

TROBB is...very un-Maidenlike.

But not in a bad way.

BlastFunk03 07-16-2006 07:17 PM

"The Good that men do...is often forgotten.....................but the evil that men do.....

yes

Psyclone 07-16-2006 07:22 PM

It was alright. I like older Maiden a lot more though.

Never listened to that album before.

Ben, you need some NOTB or Killers.

Shadows 07-16-2006 07:38 PM

I've heard Number of the Beast a long time ago. I'm sure I'd have a much better appreciation for it if I listened to it now, though.

Isn't the quote "The good that men do...is oft interred with their bones, but the evil that men do...lives on"

Huber 07-16-2006 08:24 PM

This song is cool. It doesn't sound like a single though, but I could see it on an Iron Maiden album for sure.

victim of changes 07-16-2006 09:00 PM

love the new maiden

Rainmaker 07-17-2006 01:41 AM

tis a great song, i must've listened to it abotu 15 times now!! its awsome i think.

its not single material no, it was never meant to be, rod has already said that it wont chart eligable, who gives a ****, maiden never get tv/radio recognition anyway, so why bother writing songs for it, just do what they've done, and write a lengthier song, and please the true maiden fans!! job well done!

FatalEnergy 07-17-2006 01:49 AM

I must agree the new song was really quite killer. Definatley one of the most consistant bands in the metal world.

Dannyboy15 07-17-2006 01:55 AM

Had alot more prog feel to it. I think what some people don't like about it is that it lacks the energy their other songs have. We've you to hear the entire album so I don't think anyone will be dissapointed.

Lord Abortion 07-17-2006 02:23 AM

Energy?

Pfft. Who needs that when you have darkness and introspection?

Kyle 07-17-2006 02:34 AM

That new song is really great. It doesn't really sound like a maiden song, but I like it.

Rainmaker 07-17-2006 02:50 AM

i think its good that it doesnt sound like anything they have ever done, least they're not repeating the same stuff every album, not afraid to try something new, ie. heavy yet proggy songs, which in my opinion, sounds amazing, so go maiden.

PAJJ 07-17-2006 02:56 AM

That song didn't disapoint in anyway shape or form, it was just ****ing fantastic.

crag 07-17-2006 03:01 AM

Ah, i'm in love with this song, i just can't stop listening to it:)

If the rest of the album is anywhere near as good as this i think i will have a new favourite album:)

I was just thinking the same thing, TROBB is very good.

Roll on September, as far as i'm concerned August can just bugger off.

It can indeed

GurS 07-17-2006 05:58 AM

I'm dissapointed with TROBB. Quite considerably dissapointed. As has been said, it's very X-Factor. Which, IMO, is a bad thing. As with X-Factor, the song is pretty repetitive and yet pretty long. If it's gonna be long, make it more varied - if keep it repetitive, make it shorter. That's what I'd say to them :)

I'm gonna buy the single, though... but only for the b-side. That radio 1 session rawked ****ing hard.

But yes. I'm dissapointed, it's lacking in energy, it's too repetitive... I can only hope that the rest of the album doesn't go X-Factor through-and-through, and make every single song sound the same...

Apocalyptic Raids 07-17-2006 06:00 AM

I don't particularly like it either.
