He is talented, but I prefer Neil Young any day.

Well, personally I prefer The Beatles to Miles Davis, but when discussing Miles Davis I don't feel that I have to mention that I like The Beatles more. It's kind of irrelevant. ;)

Stills > Young

IMO, of course.

maddog87 02-20-2005 07:36 PM

the beatles are way better than davis, but their still not on my top 10 list.

Illmatic 02-20-2005 07:38 PM

I prefer Miles to the Beatles.

/is the only person here who thinks so

MalcolmYoungRock 02-20-2005 07:56 PM

jks.

wanton 02-20-2005 08:07 PM
Stephen Stills - S/t
Could you review that? Please.

Badmoon 02-20-2005 08:14 PM
Could you review that? Please.
I probably won't for awhile. I don't have much info on the history of it, nor am I as familar with each song as I'd like to be. I'd have to listen to it more. :)

In time

Jam2Me 02-20-2005 08:26 PM

There would probably be no CSNY without Stills, same goes for Buffalo Springfield.

Thats true.

I agree.

/gets beat up.

Woodstock 02-20-2005 09:17 PM

I agree with everything Badmoon said about Stills.

Beatles > Miles IMO (though weird to compare)

Jam2Me 02-20-2005 09:20 PM

I thought the Beatles-Miles comparison was to get a point across, I guess I misunderstood lol.

Both of them are sort of the premier artists of their genres.

It was, but now it became a conversation.

It was, but we took it out of context and now are making useless posts about it.

ledpoisoning27 02-20-2005 09:50 PM

lunch998 02-20-2005 09:51 PM
can any one recomend a good Bob Dylan album, no greatest hits please.
Highway 61 Revisited
Blonde On Blonde
Blood On the Tracks.

Illmatic 02-20-2005 09:51 PM

Bringing It All Back Home is a gem, too.
Bringing It All Back Home is a gem, too.
I hear good things about The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan to, but I wouldn't know.

ledpoisoning27 02-20-2005 09:59 PM

lunch998 02-20-2005 10:00 PM
what do you think is the best out of those, i don't feel like going out and buying tons of cds.
Then pick one. Make a decision for yourself.

Glitterati 02-20-2005 10:40 PM
I hear good things about The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan to, but I wouldn't know.
I would definitely recommend that. Great album.
Bringing It All Back Home is a gem, too
That has Subterranean Homesick Blues, does it not?
can any one recomend a good Bob Dylan album, no greatest hits please.
I only own three of his albums, and except those ones, I've never heard another entire album by him, although I've listened to most of his songs. But my favourites of his are The Freewheelin Bob Dylan, Blood on the Tracks, and Blonde on Blonde.

I think my favourite is Blood on the Tracks, but you may find it to be a depressing album, I sure do. Highway 61 is also recommended, although I haven't listened to it front to back so I'm just passing on what I've heard.

edit- and you have to understand that his first few albums were mainly folk, mostly just him, his guitar, and his harmonica. His mid sixties albums were more with bands, and are a little more rockish. Blood on the Tracks is basically a mix between the two, he's got a band, although they don't really get in his way at all...it's purely Dylan. That's why I like it, best of both worlds.
Highway 61 Revisited

Indeed. The essentials. Although mostly everything he did was great.

magicbus 02-21-2005 09:51 AM

I still don't have any Dylan cds. However, I do like stuff like House of the Rising Sun and All Along The Watchtower. Is that like his earlier stuff?

NP: SRV - Tin Pan Alley

unclebobscircus 02-21-2005 09:56 AM

I don't like Dylan's voice very much...

/gets the crap kicked out of him

Yes indeed it does. It also has It's All Over Now, Baby Blue and It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding).

Stop talking.

Walrus Gumboot 02-21-2005 11:43 AM

I agree, Highway 61 Revisited is excellent. I just found out recently that you can get any song he ever did off of his website, I think its bobdylan.com but I'm not sure

thickasabrick 02-21-2005 12:57 PM

I proabably visit bobdylan.com as more times in a day than I visit this site. I just always end up going there a few times. Good site if you're looking for songs/lyrics.

I watched that movie Ray last night. It was awesome. Has anyone else here watched it?

jpj 02-21-2005 01:08 PM

I saw most of it last night and liked it, but I didn't see the end.

Woodstock 02-21-2005 01:30 PM

I haven't seen it yet.

lunch998 02-21-2005 01:40 PM

Me neither.

Woodstock 02-21-2005 01:45 PM

Anyone know who the guitarist for The Stooges was? The one who played on Raw Power. He's a fantastic guitarist and riff writer.

Walrus Gumboot 02-21-2005 02:16 PM

I almost rented Ray last night but I went with "Vanity Fair" instead. Should have seen Ray.

RockAndRoll 02-21-2005 02:31 PM

I haven't seen ray but I'd like too.
