Aesop Rock - Float

The Jungler 04-05-2007 08:37 PM

CocoRosie - Noah's Ark

Sounds sort of like Joanna Newsom, if Joanna Newsom used old toys and the like for percussion and didn't play the harp quite so much.

JonM 04-05-2007 08:50 PM

I'm feelin the new Feist album, and I'm not surprised at all. She's so good.

Eliminator 04-05-2007 08:50 PM

Sounds lame, CocoRosie.

The Jungler 04-05-2007 08:53 PM

Digging this album quite a bit lately.

I listened to Boys and Girls in America while washing the car. It was a very enjoyable combination.

br3ad_man 04-06-2007 05:05 AM

I saw CocoRosie once. They had all these weird videos playing during their songs. Definitely one of the strangest shows I've been to.

Kyle 04-06-2007 05:18 AM

Bright Eyes - Casadaga

This has really grown on me, I'm beginning to really enjoy it.

Maps and Atlases - Trees, Swallows, Houses

And this is still terrific. Everyone should check this if they get a chance.

Its worth the wait, trust me. Its a fantastic album, but dont expect to be blown away at first listen.

JonM 04-06-2007 11:12 AM

I'm digging this Avey Tare & Kria Brekkan record, but I don't get it. I read that this album was supposed to be in reverse or something, and this is not. Did the person I downloaded it from flip it around? I kind of want to listen to it in reverse. Is that the way they intended it?

Eliminator 04-06-2007 11:44 AM

Oh yeah, I still need to check that out.

Madlib - Shades of Blue

Same here.

The copy I downloaded doesn't have the first song though, so I'm going to download it using *gasp* iTunes.

People have uploaded edited, unreversed versions and pitch-corrected versions. The promo version is in really in reverse. The whole situation around this album is really neat. I mean, on the one hand, I think it's really a kinda pretentious proposition, the whole reversed thing. But then again, we allow artists all sorts of stupid conceits. The only difference here in this instance is that people have decided to supercede that choice and the artist's imperative. It plopped down in their hands and they said, "No, you're wrong." And they changed the album to suit themselves. I can't think of any other albums that have been received in such a way. Like I said, it's really neat. I wish I liked the album more.

NP: Gong - Angel's Egg
