I picked out Blow By Blow from my dad's CD's also.

Illmatic 02-20-2005 02:18 PM

Woodstock and Magicbus: make sure to pick up "Truth" by Jeff Beck. That's a solid album right there.

I grabbed that one too. I like it, but I don't really like Rod Stewart. That's why I prefer the instrumental albums. Although "Beck's Bolero" is a sweet-ass song.

That's exactly what I think of the album. Rod Stewart can walk into oncoming traffic for all I care.

I only have "Santana" and that one he made a few years ago (Smooth?). Somewhere, somehow there must have been some serious change.

 Well put.

And I love Santana. His guitar work is just so cool and smooth. I like his newer cd you're talking about, Supernatural, I just don't like his choice of singers on some songs. His guitaring is still ace though.

Woodstock 02-20-2005 03:14 PM

Santana is a consistently good guitar player.

NP: Blow By Blow (album)

Heh, I cheaped out and bought some greatest hits compilation from the early 70's (so there's none of that crap with Michelle Branch). It kicks ass.

maddog87 02-20-2005 03:22 PM

i never liked santana. hes a pretty good guitarist though.

Illmatic 02-20-2005 03:26 PM

Santana is pretty good. I can only listen to them in small doses, though.

NP: 2Pac - I Ain't Mad Atcha

Broken Arrow 02-20-2005 03:52 PM

I love the congos in Santana's work.

Jose "Chepito" Areas is the congo master. And he has a HUGE fro.

Last Ditch Effort 02-20-2005 03:57 PM

Fro = Coolness going way up haha
I doubt anyone can deny Santana's smooth tone every now and then.

i actually liked his voice with the jeff beck group. if you and woodstock get a chance, pick up some of beck's new albums as well. theyre a bit more electronic and metallic but theyre quality. expecially "who else?" and "you had it coming".

psh, you guys and your taking cds from parents. i BOUGHT all my jeff beck. haha. well most.

So have I.
What difference would it make if I had taken it from my parents?
If it's there, why buy new stuff?

i was just joking. dont take it personally. christ.

MalcolmYoungRock 02-20-2005 04:54 PM

Again, my parents take stuff from me :(

Woodstock 02-20-2005 05:12 PM

My dad takes some of my stuff sometimes.

Jam2Me 02-20-2005 05:40 PM

My Dad bought a 311 Greatest Hits Cd because he liked the song "Amber," I had to explain to him that they always didn't sound like that song, I traded him my Maroon 5 Cd for it so he'd stop complaining.

I took my mom's Paul McCartney and Doobie Brothers Cds but that's all they have that I'd want. My dad has pretty much every Chieftains and Van Morrison Cd ever made...anything Irish.

my parents sometimes take my music, the most recent being the los lonely boys cd i got for free from work. its ok though since i get a lot of music from them (van morrison, the police, dave brubeck, clapton)

Distant Echoes 02-20-2005 05:48 PM

I borrow alot of CDs from my dad, but he doesnt notice because he only listens to the burned one i make for him in his truck.

He doesnt have too many good ones anyway...i wish he still had his old record collection though, that wouldve been sweet

Yea, Rod's voice really makes the album (IMO).

jpj 02-20-2005 06:01 PM

I like Rod Stewart's voice, but his music can get on the 40 year old woman side of things.

I was actually gonna buy Wired and Blow By Blow yesterday at Best Buy, but no cash. Next week I'll get like 4 cds to make up for it. And I think my dad has Who Else? also, but not sure. Jeff Beck is one of his favorites, so he has a ton of his cds.

Combine both and give them a British accent.

Jam2Me 02-20-2005 06:39 PM

Can someone reccomend me some Stephen Stills, preferably very early stuff. I looked at my Buffalo Springfield CD and I only like the songs by Stills.

Badmoon 02-20-2005 06:44 PM

Stephen Stills - S/t

Jam2Me 02-20-2005 06:47 PM

Fun Fact: He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice in one day for his work with Buffalo Springfield and CSN&Y.

EDIT: Thanks, I'm buying that ASAP.
