Yes, you are correct. Even if someone is an athiest, I think they can admit that a lot of the things the New Testament teaches are very good. It's good to be kind to people and to show forgiveness. I'm not really too religious, but I try to be a nice person, and I could be considered more Christian than other people that always claim they are Christian, but are actually racist and very violent, and just downright horrible people.

On a completely different note, does anyone know where I can find Blair's 3 Ijynx poems? "Sun's Black Majesty", "Enhaloing the Lamanaut" and "Ophiuchus."

By the way, I'm 15 today!

Being nice does not equal being a Christian. If they believe in having a working relationship with God and you don't then they are more Christian than you.

Many Christians are horrible, or hypocritical people, the same as any other group, religious or otherwise.

Fact is though, just because someone agrees with some things the new testament preaches dosn't mean they will agree with it, as they don't believe in the core aspect of the religion (Which isn't being a good person, it's believing in God).

denboy 09-05-2005 10:44 AM

I turned 20, yesterday
The point of the new testament was that there would be no more slaying and judgment. Alot of it corresponds is all I'm saying.
That's true... My point was just that I could be considered a christian, because I follow alot of the same principles as Jesus.. But I'm not really into that organized religion thingamabob.. More into the think-for-yourself kind of religion :p

Dude3 09-05-2005 10:48 AM

Hello!

Yeah, I'm Agnostic(leaning towards the Atheist side), but Christianity does have many great morals, in my opinion. I disagree with some of them, but for the most part, it teached very good things.

Eww, I'm getting a haircut today. Its kinda weird. I've been wanting to get a haircut for about a week now. I thought it was too long and annoying, and possibly looked bad. Now today, the day I'm planning on getting a haircut, I think it looks sexy.
This always happens to me! Whatever. Let's just hope that it turns out fine.

What I meant, was that from a point of view of morals, I act more like a true Christian than a lot of people who claim to be Christian do.

I think we turn off a lot of people with our off topic discussions... oh well.

repcak 09-05-2005 11:07 AM

i once started to read the whole bible; after some weeks is stopped :D

as i read all your posts i think you are making some mistakes: the old testament doesn't mention jesus! in short: the old testament begins with the creation of the world; and the new testament begins with the birth of jesus.
don't make this mistake again.
edit: and as i can "remember" the old testament already existed before jesus... so the old testament is older than 2005 9months and 5 days old.

i'm the next who will get a new haircut (tommorow) :thumb:

YouGottaBeCrazy 09-05-2005 11:11 AM

So, am I just imagining things, or didn't the August Newsletter feature a story about Axl Rose and a turkey with 2 hearts? I can't seem to find discussion about it on this thread anymore and it seems to not be in the August Newsletter anymore. Was I just imagining things? I feel like I'm in a Philip K. Dick story.

I don't think anyone mistook the old testament for having Jesus in it

Dude3 09-05-2005 11:19 AM

I should read the bible. I'm not religious at all, but I should open up that door, or at least make myself more knowledgable. Although, I suck at reading. It kinda hard to explain.

I'm always interested in a book. At the moment, its Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I'll get to reading it, and I'll enjoy myself. But once I put the book down, I'll lose interest somewhat, and will almost never pick up the book again. I'm not sure why. I just give up to easily on some things. I'm more of a movie guy. Hell, I usually fake all my book reports. If my teachers notice, I always pick books that have movies for book reports. Last year, I did A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Lord of the Flies, and The Outsiders(two of those we read in class anyway).

repcak 09-05-2005 11:22 AM

haha... i think i was only of the few in my class who didn't fake book-reports :D i always read them.
i like reading and i'm reading alot, but the bible is very difficult. it is the language and the words that makes it so hard to read/understand. this was the reason i stopped reading it.

denboy 09-05-2005 11:34 AM

I too, love reading, heck I read 100 of pages everyday just on the internet.. (But I guess that's different hehe)

Gah. Read Fear and Loathing, I finished it in three days. You won't regret it. Easily one of my favorite books. (See avatar and user title.)

repcak 09-05-2005 12:09 PM

yeah thats different... first i wake up i read the daily-newspaper (which takes me 1hour) then i read on the internet for 2-3hours a day and then there are always some books i'm reading... so i come to about 100-150 pages a day.

i saw "fear and loathing in las vegas" some 2months ago and i hated the film... its stupid... that's the best word to descripe the film: stupid.
and don't tell me "i don't like it cause its about drugs" .. no! i have seen a lot of drug-movies and this one is one of the worst i have ever seen in my life

I loved the movie, but this is really one of those situations where you need to read the original source material before seeing the movie.

YouGottaBeCrazy 09-05-2005 12:28 PM

I never saw that movie.

Dude3 09-05-2005 01:05 PM

Eh, no haircut for me today. The barber shop is closed, and I'm picky about where I get my haircuts. I'll just get it next week, or possibly sooner.

Ha yeah, that would be me. Although, that picture dosen't really look like me. My hair is a lot longer now, and I look somewhat different. I'll try and up-load a new pic on it tonight, if I can get my good computer fixed.

I just bought Lateralus on instinct and it was the first time that I really sat down and listened to Tool. I am VERY impressed, I throughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.
