They did Fade to Black didn't they?
Unfortunatly no, I'm very surprised metallica doesnt like to do fade to black on some orginal things like S&M or suggesting to Apocalyptica. They only did it on RTL and live. And to amswer GOCAPS99 question, the cellos were released 3 years b4 S&M but it was not metallicas idea to play with the symphony, the conductor, Michael Kamen, came to them with the idea (this was sed by james on the S&M DVD in the documentary part of the DVD).

Joe 07-26-2005 07:51 PM

They don't suggest songs for tribute albums. They didn't do Fade to Black because "they couldn't find a good arrangement" even though that's bull because they did One. As I've said before, the two reasons to not buy S&M are Fade to Black and Sanitarium.

Schecterguitarist 07-26-2005 07:57 PM

I noticed that inside of the lyric sheet of the kill em all album they say thanx to a former member Ron Mcgovney, not hearing of him b4 i did some research and he is actually the original ORIGINAL bassist to metallica. On their demo no life til leather he is the one playing the bass. I believe that he was Lars' roommate in an apartment

hethamulburton 07-26-2005 08:00 PM

You are correct, he was in the demo years, but quit cause music wasn't something he wanted to do as a career.

Chu 07-26-2005 08:36 PM

I have Apocaltypica or whatever doing Fade To Black xD

He wrote bassline for Hit The Lights, correct?

hethamulburton 07-26-2005 09:08 PM

I know he was a member when it was recorded for Metal Massacre. Hetfield wrote it, I don't know about the bassline, I imagine Ron would've.

emosukscock44 07-26-2005 10:25 PM

Who wrote And Nothing Else Matters. Im guessing hetfield wrote the whole thing.
Even all the parts and the awesome solo(s).

hethamulburton 07-26-2005 10:27 PM

Hetfield wrote it in Canada on tour, I think, on tour, but it was Canada. He presented it to Lars, who of course thought it was great, and boom. I think Kirk had solo responsibility on this one, not sure. But if Lars could, I know he'd claim responsibility that the song was his. Love the SN. :thumb:

Moses 07-26-2005 10:29 PM

Hetfield had the solo I thought.....

hethamulburton 07-26-2005 10:31 PM

Once again, I don't know, but I know he wrote the vast majority of the song, and since it was his song, yea, he prob. wrote the whole thing. In Canada, of course.

Moses 07-26-2005 10:44 PM

Travis I recreated the 40 years thread so continue good discussion in there if you like.

PepsiMetal 07-26-2005 11:12 PM

Just watched that drum solo, and thought lars was way better. James' drumming sucked. lol. The beginning when lars started was sweet. Why did you guys say James was better?

exup 07-27-2005 08:51 AM

i'm downloading, you guys all really share some great stuff.

FlyingPaul_83 07-27-2005 09:10 AM

No problem everybody, it took me about an hour-hour and 15 minutes to upload.

No remorse and the four horsemen are probably my favorite songs they perform on cliff 'em all.

Jev 07-27-2005 09:24 AM

Is it me or are the words to No Remorse at the end wrong?

It sounds a bit wrong but im not sure, im not really bothered

shamed-angel 07-27-2005 09:27 AM

I have Cliff Em All on Video. I love the bit where he's like "Pussies, Cunts, Fags." When he's smoking with those guys and he just turns to some guy and gives him the coolest looking fucking nod I ever saw.

FlyingPaul_83 07-27-2005 09:28 AM

I love the breakdown in four horsemen. Favorite part of the whole show.

Deth 07-27-2005 09:28 AM

I like For Whom The Bell Tolls and The Four Horsemen the best on the DVD.

FlyingPaul_83 07-27-2005 09:36 AM

hey

haven't seen you in a while.

Deth 07-27-2005 09:38 AM

I've been in England the last 3 weeks. No internet access the whole time :(.

But I'm back, new avatar and everything.

FlyingPaul_83 07-27-2005 09:40 AM

how was england?

Deth 07-27-2005 09:44 AM

OK. I go every year to visit family and whatnot, so it was nothing out of the ordinary.

BUT! I was able to find the two Opeth albums I didn't have, Porcupine Tree's Signify and Iced Earth's Alive In Athens for really cheap. So I can't argue that much.

Well Yea it took awhile (mom loved it)
I thought lars was much better then jame but hey james would kick his
*** on guitar and sorta kept up on drums so props to james

Britton 07-27-2005 09:59 AM

Hey I dont think I should download it,
1 I dont have a lotta memory
2 perents hate Metallica and would flip if they saw my hero drunk
3I can't burn it
4 well I cant think of four but I'm sure there is one...so I'll buy it!
and hide in my room

they flipped when they saw Hendrix flucking his stack....

Jev 07-27-2005 10:15 AM

Why the hell should your parents care if your hero's drunk? It's not like he's telling you to shoot up heroin or making you into a drunk.

hethamulburton 07-27-2005 10:43 AM

Trust me dude, your parents, were like that one day. Most of them do like Metallica, mine do, and all of my friends' moms do. I don't think it should be a problem, and if it is use flowerdances arguement.
