Armor O'Malley 10-05-2004 01:51 PM

Has Iron Maiden ever released a collection of all their B-sides?

If not, I'd like to see it.

YDload 10-05-2004 02:12 PM

I used to skip "Total Eclispe" because I felt it wasn't energetic enough and it was standing in the way of "Hallowed Be Thy Name." But once I listened to it the whole way through I can appreciate it more, like when the whole tempo of the song speeds up just for the guitar solo. They should do that more often.

ashman 10-05-2004 02:20 PM
Has Iron Maiden ever released a collection of all their B-sides?

Yep its called "Best of B Sides", its in the Eddy Archives.

GurS 10-05-2004 02:22 PM

i wish i had the eddie archives :(

ed hunter 10-05-2004 04:31 PM

im gong ot get it soon i hope when i have money

Lateralias 10-05-2004 04:35 PM

Isnt Eddies Archives the metal eddie case that comes with like 3 cd's and a shotglass or something? Yeah I hope to get that too, only problem is that its pretty expensive
do you guys like total eclipse? it's one of my all time fave maiden songs, but i know a lot of people don't like it.
Total Eclipse is a great underrated song on NOTB, I always considered that and The Prisoner the two great underrated songs of Number of the Beast.

GurS 10-05-2004 04:56 PM

that's the one, lateralias.

****, i should have asked for that for my birthday >_<

FrailandBedazzled1979 10-05-2004 10:30 PM

i got i for X-mas a couple of years back (eddie's archive) and i think the live cd of "beast over hammersmith" is worth it alone, wonderful setlist and recording quality!!!

another completly underated Iron Maiden song to me is "Flash of the Blade" from powerslave, H and Davey's harmonies are fantastic and the chorus is to die for. One of my favourites to play on guitar as well.

YDload 10-05-2004 10:32 PM

"Flash of the Blade" is the ultimate in cheesy Maiden. But I kind of like it.

FrailandBedazzled1979 10-05-2004 10:36 PM

that and "quest for fire" :) both two of my favourites!!

YDload 10-05-2004 10:38 PM

That's where I'm going to have to cut you off: "Quest of Fire" is atrocious. Maybe it's because I insist on a little accuracy from such an intelligent band, but I don't like songs about cavemen living at the same time as dinosaurs!

Shady Ultima 10-05-2004 10:41 PM

I heard Opeth's cover of Remember Tomorrow, and I HATE IT!!! How could they play a song that's all bass... and NOT HAVE BASS!!!!! It's so horrible. I have a cover of Metallica playing the first verse, and it's WAY better. Sorry, I don't think anyone should ever even attempt to cover Maiden because : One of the best singers, one of the best metal bassists, if not the best ever, a great drummer, and 2 (3 now) AMAZING guitarists. No one else can have that.

Deciever 10-05-2004 10:53 PM
I've heard the Cradle Of Filth version of Fear Of The Dark... it isn't that good...
I heard Cradle of Filth's version of Hallowed be thy name, and it sucked to put it bluntly (ha ha, suck and blunt, hilarious)

FrailandBedazzled1979 10-05-2004 10:56 PM

i think COF's version is one of the best Maiden covers out there. Wonderfully orchestraed keyboard intro and the guitar tone (as well as solos) are top knotch, Nick even through in some hasty drums as well. Dani of course sung it in his typical fashion which gave it their personality, aside from Children of Bodom's cover of "the trooper" id say its the best ive heard.
One word comes to mind...Bastard
Yes I am thankyou. Im only sixteen but i went to a Dublin concert on the DOD Tour and got three signed and Two of them in London man you should have been at one. Did you go to one??

Riva 10-06-2004 02:58 AM

I picked my friend up to go to uni, and as we were driving, I had Powerslave pumping on the stereo. So any, my friend, who is convinced he is a metal head after graduating from Linkin Park to Dream Theater and Tool (both of whom I love, by the way), told me at length that bands as simple and untechnical as Iron Maiden bored him, since if he wanted to listen to thrashy music without skill he would listen to punk.

So I put on Losfer Words, and saw the self-important smirk melt off of his face. Then I skipped to Rime Of The Ancient Mariner and finished him off, especially when that long interlude in the middle comes in. It was especially awesome as I had the bass cranked so he could hear Steve Harris' pure awesomeness. Just had to say how much I love it. At least now he will listen to other bands besides Dream Theater and Tool.

ed hunter 10-06-2004 09:45 AM

i hate cob's version of the trooper, lissen to it when he says the bugal sounds and the charge begins he doesnt even pronounce it properly he says "the bucket sown adn the char it kiss" id prefer it if he lernt to sing the words proplerly befor he sings the songs and i know he is forigne so even mroe reason for him to make sure he can prnounce them properly.

GurS 10-06-2004 10:39 AM

ed hunter 10-06-2004 10:51 AM

not that bassiest, Robin Graves played on that version and he was a finger bassiest, their new bassiest Dave Pubis does use a pic however :)

Alexi sings in the style of black metal, if you could understand every word it wouldnt sound right. When a band does a cover of another groups songs they throw in some of their own style as well. If that alone makes the song "terrible" than id say you have a terrible outlook on their cover, as the music had never sounded better for the song.

ashman 10-06-2004 11:55 AM

Are we still on page 99? This last page is taking ages to fill....

GurS 10-06-2004 11:58 AM

well then whats the point in having lryics if you cant actualy understand them?

and i hate that style of singing. i know you ve to put your own mark ona song but i think they put a bad mark ont he song they did ruin the trooper. i know i wouldnt be abe to play it tht well but i didnt like it all the same
