I just got hold of F#A#infinty. Its pretty quality.
That's probably my least favourite Godspeed album. Not that it's bad, but it's never really stuck out for me like the rest of them do.
So has anyone listened to Rosetta's new album Wake/Lift?
Just listening to the end of it now (the last few minutes of Monument). I can definitely say it's solid and the atmosphere is just awesome. How it compares to their other album I don't know.. I don't have the second disc of that for some reason, and I couldn't really digest it all the first time round.

I've sent it to the DU.. but, does anyone want it NOWNOWNOW?

I'm gonna give this one another spin with some Sennheisers :)
Got a bit distracted the first time.

Shadius 09-21-2007 06:23 AM

Talk talk's last two album releases anyone?

Apocalyptic Raids 09-21-2007 08:41 AM

I need to get Laughing Stock. I've got Spirit of Eden though, which is alright.

RiceMonster 09-21-2007 09:28 AM

I'd say Yanqui U.X.O. is their worst. That's the only one that I don't really listen too..

Eliminator 09-21-2007 09:29 AM

Yanqui has one good song

Laughing Stock is one of the best albums ever made.

bwnstl 09-30-2007 10:16 PM

I've done two Rosetta-related things this week.

First, I downloaded the official rip of the overlayed Galilean Satellites (so I don't have to sync anything up). Holy.Fucking.Shit. The album was fantastic already, and playing both discs at the same time just put all the amazing-ness into hyperdrive.

Second, Wake/Lift is fantastic. Every song on there is incredible. And because the song lengths are a little bit shorter it's a lot easier to digest right off. The only slightly weak track is (Temet Nosce).
Because of this, I ordered the album from Translation Loss' site, and I get a bonus disc, t-shirt, and poster out of the deal as well. Sweet.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-01-2007 12:00 AM

been listening to much Ghastly City Sleep lately.

Kage 10-01-2007 12:02 AM

That's a good band.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-01-2007 01:36 AM

Do they have more than their S/T? I'd google it, but this forum is stagnant enough as it is.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-01-2007 02:08 AM

that first part of your post doesn't make much sense sense but if you're asking what I think you're asking, then the answer is no.

big80smullet 10-01-2007 04:56 AM

My favourite post rock bands are Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions In The Sky, Do Make Say Think, Caspian, Pelican and Russian Circles. Pretty generic but hey.

Static 10-01-2007 01:54 PM

I really don't like Do Make Say Think.

/non-ninja edit

uh yeah, that's a shame then.

And DMST took forever to get into, at least for me. I passionately disliked them for half a year, then finally understood that their focus was completely apart from the rest of the post rock scene. That's when they clicked for me. They're thoroughly enjoyable now.

Static 10-01-2007 03:15 PM

Hmm, I'll give them a chance then.

Really diggin' Callisto lately.

RiceMonster 10-01-2007 03:17 PM
I really don't like Do Make Say Think.
I don't really like them either.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-01-2007 03:24 PM

What have you guys heard? You, You're a History in Rust is my fave.

TojesDolan 10-01-2007 03:27 PM

Jakob's Solace is interesting.

Static 10-01-2007 03:31 PM

Only & Yet & Yet from the Daily Upload.
Jakob's Solace is interesting.
It's okay.

Vastness 10-01-2007 03:39 PM

& yet is their best one
nice and chilled out jazzy

I've heard Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn. For me it was kind of in one ear and out the other. there was only one riff that stood out to me.

TojesDolan 10-01-2007 03:54 PM

Tralala band

ATM 10-01-2007 04:59 PM

& Yet & Yet is a good as it gets with them.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-01-2007 05:43 PM

Yeah rice, I'm not big on that album. I wouldn't tell you to give them another shot, but if you get around to You, You're a History in Rust, you may enjoy them a bit.

Apocalypticon 10-01-2007 06:53 PM

All Do Make Say Think is great. However & yet & yet is clearly tops.

jrowa001 10-02-2007 06:45 AM

i was at my old high school yesterday morning getting some observation hours under my belt and during a break i was talking to some kids and they had no idea what post-rock was. so i taught them the basics and who to listen to. im hoping i was able to expand their taste and away from MTV. all the black kids walked away though, not that theirs anything wrong with that

beaNN 10-02-2007 08:15 AM

Listening to Red Sparowes - At The Soundless Dawn atm, how do you guys rate this album?

ATM 10-02-2007 02:07 PM

Yeah, I might give them another try. I didn't hate it (yeah, a glowing endorsement, I know).

Dried Muffin Remnants 10-02-2007 10:08 PM

I like the stuff that isn't too abstract. I'll take some new Pelican, Do Make Say Think, Red Sparowes and Tortoise. Stuff like GYBE! is only good if I'm blunted or tripping haha... really.

Nepenthe 10-03-2007 11:54 AM

new DMST is boring

pixiesfanyo 10-03-2007 12:04 PM

good thread.

I just stumbled across these two bands on last.fm, and really liked their sound. I didn't see them mentioned here. I specified the songs that played too....

Bossk: (the track "I" is the one I heard, really liked it quite a bit)
http://www.myspace.com/bossk

Shora: (the track "Parhelion." this one was playing in the background before it got my attention. I think around 2:35 is when it really stuck out, listening to it again as I type this...)

Also, someone mentioned if anyone had any other Russian Circles albums beyond "Enter."

I have their demo cd that I got at a show of theirs, before Enter came out. Nothing new, just earlier recordings of the Enter tracks, but you might be interested. I would like to get their "Re-enter" EP. I have the vinyl, but I think there is a defect on it, it always skips on me :(
