A bit of news from their official site:

03.15.2007
So, a few tidbits from SM H.Q.:
1) Streetlight is going out this summer for a 2 month north american tour with reel big fish and less than jake. Dates will be posted soon. after that they'll be headlining again.

2) Yes, the new record will most definately be finished by then and they will be playing new material as well as old material. Finally!

3) Dear europe: Yes, SM will be seeing you (and more of you than the last two times ;-) sometime after the summer tour and the record's release. It's been too long, we know. zut alors!

4) We need some help coding the new site. If you are very proficient with CSS, dhtml, clean code, some flash and blog customizing, please contact jarekotar@gmail.com with some samples of your work. In return, we will bury you in merch, cds, free tickets and whatever else we can think of.

Until next time!

I'm excited for a big Europe tour.

Liebensaft 03-17-2007 07:17 PM

Cool. It's nice to know they're alive.

Henrik 03-18-2007 11:56 AM

Yep I thought that too. And if the album is to be out before their summer tour, that might mean that we can expect the new album to be out in June or at least July.

comptonassrobert 03-18-2007 12:05 PM

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. That is the best news I've heard in a while. LTJ are the only "landmark" 3rd wave band I still need to see, and every Streetlight show i've been to has be absolutely amazing, so this is a golden lineup.

Henrik 03-18-2007 12:08 PM

:) I'm glad for you. Even though I probably wouldn't put my expectations too high about a Less Than Jake show nowadays. I think their old stuff is decent, but the new material is terrible.
Do they have a horn section waiting to come in and play the old stuff? I mean they don't really use horns in the new stuff.

AIRIC 03-18-2007 12:10 PM

I bet they don't have a horn section at all.

Henrik 03-18-2007 12:12 PM

ohh, sounds kind of boring.

comptonassrobert 03-18-2007 12:16 PM

Well they played 2006 warped tour and my friends who went said they still have a horn section. They have to play atleast a few of the old songs, and if you guys have ever seen Goldfinger do "superman" without horns, you'll know how much it sucks, so I don't see why they wouldn't have one.

AIRIC 03-18-2007 12:17 PM

The Aquabats didn't have a horn section when I saw them maybe a year ago.

comptonassrobert 03-18-2007 12:22 PM

They replaced the horn section with a synth though, Less Than Jake wouldn't have anything to play the horn lines.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, when I saw them with Streetlight last year their keyboardist played saxamaphone too.

AIRIC 03-18-2007 12:35 PM

How do you like Catch 22 live with the singer playing sax? I've seen them 5 or 6 times and I hate it more every time. I wish they would just break up. The only part of their set I enjoy is opening up with that Rocky song every time.

comptonassrobert 03-18-2007 12:40 PM

I haaaaaate the singer/sax player. I hate most of that band now. But I still really want to see them live because that's the only way I'll be able to hear some of my favorite Keasbey-era songs in concert

AIRIC 03-18-2007 12:53 PM

I've seen a lot of ska shows because that's all they used to book at this venue that got shutdown. Catch 22 ties the Aquabats with the worst shows. the Toasters, however, are number 1. They never dissapoint. Their sax player is a douchebag though.

Yeah, The Toasters are pretty cool live. Why's their sax player a douche.

The best ska band I've seen live would have to be Westbound Train. They played an awesome show when I saw them. Especially cuz all the other bands we're playing 3rd wave style ska-punk which I'm not really into.

AIRIC 03-19-2007 07:30 PM

Westbound Train's set was perfect when I saw them. I was really stoned and they had the perfect music for it.

The Toasters sax player is just loud and obnoxious and probably an alcoholic. I just don't really like him.

Mehh I don't really like that Rocky song. I think What Goes around comes around is a great song, also live.

doesn't Streetlight play Keasbey-era songs now that they've re-recorded the album?

Henrik 03-20-2007 02:00 PM

As long as they play short sets, which they do when they don't headline and they haven't done that a lot for some time, then they most likely only play Keasbey Nights, maybe Dear Sergio too.

Jessizzle 03-20-2007 03:00 PM

dude i love seeing catch 22 live, i love the new album just as much as KN

comptonassrobert 03-20-2007 05:18 PM
doesn't Streetlight play Keasbey-era songs now that they've re-recorded the album?
They'll only play the Keasbey Nights/point-counterpoint medley, and maybe one or two more songs.

Really? I haven't even given it a decent listen yet. I just haven't bothered since I really REALLY did not like Dinosaur Sounds.

Danger Bird 03-23-2007 02:44 PM

I assume you've all seen the new message on http://www.acousticbandits.com/ ?

Henrik 03-24-2007 04:47 AM

Woot no I hadn't but HEEYY!! Good news about the full lenght!
I don't really understand what that "West coas division" means though.

Catchthe22 03-24-2007 09:10 AM

This is going to be a legendary summer of ska. I dont think SM/Botar will leave my car's cd player.

Henrik 03-24-2007 10:38 AM

Who else are releasing new stuff?
I know about Big D and Mad Caddies.

comptonassrobert 03-24-2007 03:57 PM

Apparently No Doubt are supposed to be putting out a new album.

Catchthe22 03-24-2007 05:16 PM

yeah, Im excited for No Doubt to get back together. This Gwen solo stuff is horrible. Hopefully they dont sound too much like their last album though.

Danger Bird 03-24-2007 09:43 PM

If they actually come out...
yeah, Im excited for No Doubt to get back together. This Gwen solo stuff is horrible. Hopefully they dont sound too much like their last album though.
Yeah I agree. So is this a confirmed thing? I've just heard about it from different people

Henrik 03-25-2007 08:47 AM

Don't know but they probably won't play ska anyway so I don't really care since their latest stuff was terrible.
What's a good No Doubt album?

comptonassrobert 03-25-2007 09:54 AM

Their self-titled is full-on 3rd wave ska punk, The Beacon Street Collection, Tragic Kingdom is my favorite of theirs, it has a lot of solid ska tracks (Spiderwebs) but not all of it has horns. It went "diamond" though, which is 10,000,000 records sold. Return of Saturn is really good too.

Then there is Rock Steady. It was okay I guess, but totally not ska. It has a lot of reggae influence in some of the songs though.

smokersdieyounger 03-26-2007 07:22 AM

I think Rocksteady is worth it for 'Underneath it all'

Is the version of total hate on Deacon Street the one with Brad knowell rapping?

Catchthe22 03-26-2007 07:47 AM

If you mean the sweet ska break down. Oh yeah...it's there.

Danger Bird 05-24-2007 06:54 PM

Are the dates on streetlight's site from 06 or 07?

Liebensaft 05-24-2007 07:44 PM

They are not current.

Aficionado 05-24-2007 07:51 PM

Man do I love these bands. Catch 22 alone got me into ska music via "As the footsteps die out forever".

Danger Bird 05-24-2007 09:59 PM

Damn, I thought I was going to see them, lol

Anarcho Poser 05-24-2007 10:09 PM

I'm really excited they're coming to albany. They played in poughkeepsie a year ago, but the day before I was gunna go see them I had a pretty serious accident and thrashed up my hand, so I couldn't go. I still have the tickets :upset:

SkaRobotArmy 05-26-2007 11:58 AM
