WAKE UP

TojesDolan 04-02-2006 03:22 AM

I just realized a lot of people in this forum are either into hardcore/"something"core or alternative.

EDIT: or very very eclectic tastes like Burt.

slack 04-02-2006 01:44 PM

ah man i feel like shit. blasted cold.

TojesDolan 04-03-2006 04:40 PM

Yeah I feel you man.

Not really, but this thread is dying.

FA 04-03-2006 08:28 PM

Alas, my spring break is over, unfortunately. It started off exteremely slow and boring, but as the weekend progressed it ended up being one of the better ones. Sunday night was one of the best parties I've ever been too. :chug: to me.

deathscreamingsheep 04-04-2006 11:42 AM

Today S&L is officially sucking. Has everyone just finished spring break or something?

deathscreamingsheep 04-05-2006 11:50 AM

Another appeal to whatever deity happens to be listening to clear up S and L.

TojesDolan 04-05-2006 12:28 PM

I don't know. I've been busy painting.

I'll be creating a chapbook with all the stuff I've posted in here, it's nearly 23 poems/songs I've written and I'll probably add some art to make up for my lack of talent at writing. Maybe the short stories too.

slack 04-05-2006 11:13 PM
Yeah I feel you man.

TojesDolan 04-05-2006 11:42 PM

Yeah those are good times.

drumass04 04-06-2006 01:28 PM

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around much, the past few weeks have been incredibly busy, what with the school play and then a homestay trip to Germany with the school.

The play went awesomely well, though I did break one of my techie rules; By the opening night I was snuggling close to the lead role, by the last night we were together...But hey, I'm not complaining.

Trip to Germany was interesting, though in places mind-numbingly boring.

I should be back around here more often in a fwew days, I'm on a bit of an artistic streak at the moment, though it is being slightly hindered by moving house, and my mum getting married (that brought a lot of poetry I'm quite proud of. Anyway, I must be going, I'll post up some of my new stuff in a few days time, I'll also get down to some serious critiquing, as I know I have fallen behind a little and I certainly owe several people crits.

Hope you're all well, and still writing!

Peace

Timmy P

It does seem to be said every month, but S&L really is sucking hard this month... plus it would appear the mods haven't been about much recently either - there are a lot of lame threads living a lot longer than they deserve to.

Shame, as over the past two months this place was really picking up again.

Welcome back MMPR. Stick around, as I love your stuff.

Oh, and Slack, I owe you a crit still... sorry about missing the last one - I got sidetracked. Chase me up when you have one you want doing. :)

emo=elmow/otheL 04-07-2006 06:53 PM

A SUGGESTION ON SONG POSTS:
Instead of having a poster post a seperate thread for every single thing he and/or she has ever written, why dont people just have their very own personal thread to put their crap in? This would save space and time from looking for things you cant find. It would also be nice to be able to check in on your favorite posters without having to go over the fields and through the woods, you know? Just an idea, because haveing to post once a day all over the place gets kind of old. (A reply from a high-up mod would be nice.)

It's probably easier to click Find Threads by User in their profile than to create a new rule that basically changes everything. As for mods, I think there's only one that is active in this forum anymore.

It's a nice idea, and I'll admit to wondering whether to suggest something similar a few times myself - however, the bottom line is that we just don't have a large enough volume of posters to make that a viable option. Plus, it would make it even tougher for newbs to get crits - at the moment, I use the song title as a fairly good indication of what's even worth wasting my bandwidth on opening - a bit harsh I know, but if a song is called 'You made me cut myself' you can usually be pretty sure that it's not going to have Bob Dylan running for the hills.

If we start limiting users to one thread, this place could dry up very quickly, and looking at the demise of Piano/Keyboard and the Audio Arena forums recently, I'd say that we need to start justifying this forum's existance - even our mods have started to lose interest, it would seem... and I don't know about you, but I don't want to lose this place.

(note: I'm not suggesting this would happen, but you get the point - we don't want to be killing this place any further)

slack 04-08-2006 07:30 PM

More mods! More mods! :)

Nightvision 04-09-2006 06:00 AM

Haha, it'll never happen.

Dfelon is still technically active, even if Burt isn't, and there's not really enough trouble here to warrant a full-time mod - nor are there many obvious candidates.

At the end of the day, Dfelon usually does a pretty good job when he's about, he posts in the main forum a bit more than some previous mods, and when he's not about, there's always the 'report problem users' thread.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a new mod for this place - it might pep the place up a bit, and bring some enthusiasm back, but it's just not going to happen - we've been in more dire need of a mod than this and were knocked back twice.

deathscreamingsheep 04-09-2006 06:26 AM

The only thing is when sometimes we get a big influx of threads like "OMGZ teach me to Scream" and stuff, but usually we do alright with DFelon looking in even if his cleanups are fairly irregular. Plus he's a good writer and does make regular contributions to the Lyric Challenges and stuff.

Nightvision 04-10-2006 03:46 AM

...and as if by magic the place is cleaned up. :)

Nice work Burt, cheers. (I assume it was you, as you posted in that johnnyuk guy's thread, meaning you were active last night)

SubtleDagger 04-10-2006 05:06 PM

I spent the last month moving into my own place. I told Nick to keep the place in check, though I did entertain the thought of a new mod if it got out of hand, which it didn't. Things are back in order now, though.

pixiesfanyo 04-10-2006 05:08 PM

I'm the only new mod choice ever.

Because I've got inside connections and all.

/lies

Burt, you should get the new Patton record of me sometime. Iz sooo bad.

SubtleDagger 04-10-2006 05:12 PM

Later tonight, probably, I'm about to go to work.

pixiesfanyo 04-10-2006 05:30 PM

Enjoy the groceries.

FA 04-10-2006 09:57 PM

Hi, how's everybody doing?

RollerQueen 04-10-2006 10:29 PM

Getting rid of 3-year-old memories is fun!

SubtleDagger 04-10-2006 10:32 PM

So you killed an infant?

RollerQueen 04-10-2006 10:58 PM

Close. I threw out some stuff from my senior year of high school.

SubtleDagger 04-10-2006 11:06 PM

Ugh, high school. I dropped out and got my GED senior year. High school blows.

FA 04-10-2006 11:09 PM

I'm about ready to be finished with High School and I guess I nearly am. Graduate in May...:)

SubtleDagger 04-11-2006 12:34 AM

New guide stickied. It took like an hour to write but maybe it will help some people improve.

ATC 04-11-2006 01:59 AM

Sweet guide, Burt. I have a feeling at least a few of my crits will be just links to that. It's been one of those trough months where nothing I've seen posted in the forum's worth a second look. Should help quite a bit.

drumass04 04-11-2006 09:04 AM

Nice work Subtle :)

I'm finally writing again...nearly a month of stalemate is over :D

Also managed to get my work experience sorted, about 3 months after everyone else is. I'm going to work in a theatre in a city near by, should be awesome...I'm going to be mainly on the lights (I do a load of lighting in theatre for shows and concerts anyway, it's going to be awesome!!)

Hope you're all well,

Timmy P

How about merging ATC's guide (minus the comments) with the new one and creating like an über-blurb? Maybe create a table of contents with links if it ever gets really big. It'd be one less sticky on the front page.

Sweet guide, though.

If I did do that I'd have to delete all the comments. Most of them aren't actually as helpful as they should be.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 04-12-2006 05:42 PM

I'm now an official college drop out... maybe I'll start writing again.

Drop out?

That sucked. Forgive me.
