Are you sewing it yourself?
|
More than likely. I had my mom sew the patches onto themselves to provide extra security on her machine. I may do what I did with my jacket and hand sew, and if they are too weak have my mom use her machine to reinforce, unless she wants to teach me how to use the thing.
|
I sewed my vest, but I had my first jacket sewn on at a store in town-it looks way better that way, obviously.
asking people what to put on yo'ur jacket is so not hardcore. Conformist!
my punk jacket is a black/neon green Ninja Turtles track jacket that i wear everyday. I'm so hardcore i don't need patches
Dude you so got that at hot topic... conformist... And about mohawks... I need help too... my hair is really thick, and the hawk is about 2 inches wide. I was thinking it would be much better if I thinned it out? It always curves to the left a bit... how do I slove this? straighteining doesnt do much, but hair gel on the tips (in a ddition to the spray) seemed to make it stick straighter. |
To make it vegan replace 1 egg with one banana, use margarine, and get vegan marshmellows!
Hey does anyone know anything about silkscreening and making your own shirts? Or like where to get iron-on letters on anything?
Michaels can tell you a lot about diying your own shirts. Just buy some fabric paint for 99 cents and make a stencil. |
Someone edit it the thread so it says not to ask about hair.
|
Mohawk bit taken out, those questions were getting really old.
|
Thank you.
On a differnt kind of DIY for ya kids. I want to make something unique for my iPod as a cover for it. I saw some sock covers for iPods but they were way to expensive. So! Here's the question, what should I do with it? |
I made my first DIY shirt (by the same method I make patches) and it turned out great.
I'll post pictures tomorrow or something, even though the logo is for a band that is not punk at all. |
Thank you.

Here's the question, what should I do with it?
Carefully craft a 'iSkin' from duct tape. But avoid sticking the tape directly to the iPod, instead make "Duct tape fabric" and create a pocket. To creat duct tape fabric: Lay out about 3-4 strips of duct tape, sticky side out, horizontally. Place one down, then another on top, overlapping slightly. Continue with the rest. Then take more strips and lay them vertically over the horizontal ones , sticky side down. Do this until you have a crosst hatch thing of duct tape. This can be used to wrap around the iPod, cut where you need to cut, fit for size, and hold pieces together with duct tape. |
Thanks for the tip Mr.Mod.
But duck-tape isn't how this child wears his iPod. I was thinking more a line of the sock idea. |

I may get my grandmother to do that.
But I might dye it a differnt color also. Or just buy a colored sock. |
I've seen little corchet holders for iPods, but that may be a bit queer for a black man like yourself.

Funny, since I am bisexual. But seriously, I actually just wanted to ask something about DIY rather than shirts and patches. Anyone do DIY on things like electronics? |
alright buddies....... summer is here, and im hella hot. can someone give me instructions on making DIY shorts?
I didn't make mine from scratch, but heres what i said a couple pages ago about them. I got a pair of dickies shorts becuase they are the cheepest ones i could find. I ripped off all the dickies logos, then put on my patches. I got the loose fit by accident though whcih are huge, so i ended up sewing them a little and now they look better. i'm trying to find some zippers to put on them too. |

wats the difference between a scratchplate and a pickupguard?
forgive my ignorance... |
wats the difference between a scratchplate and a pickupguard?
forgive my ignorance...
you're in the wrong forum. but i think i can handle this one. i think you mean "pickguard." as far as i know, there is no difference. however, there is such a thing as a "pickup cover," you might mean that. in that case, these: http://www.guitar-repairs.com.au/whitepearlsplate.jpg http://www.guitar-repairs.com.au/acousticsplate.jpg are pickguards/scratchplates, and these: http://www.dguitarparts.com/images/pPickUpCovers005.jpg are pickup covers. but if you have more guitar related questions, you should try http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7 (that's the guitar forum). |
yeah sorry...i realised as soon as id posted...but thanks anyway!

Don't think I wouldn't. I grew up learning how to sew rather than learning how to fish with my dad. |
I wasn't kidding.
|
I know you wern't.
It would look cute with a bow though. |
I just finished sewing the first patch on my vest. 1 down, 7 to go. Have it all planned out, itll take awhile it's a bit harder to sew onto denim. Not sure if I'm doing any studs, don't know where to put them. Backpatch will be here sometime next week.

It's not for me, what kind of needle you using there? |
It's not for me, what kind of needle you using there?
A large one. I just take my time, because if I didn't I'd end up stabing the thing through my hand. The hardest parts are usually when I have to go through two layers of patch (I fold over and sew edges, well my mom does) and then the jacket. |

You really have to do that, or watch the patch before you sew it on. |
I learned the hard away about not folding edges and not taking my time. My DK and Ramones patches on my regular jackets got destroyed after being washed in the washer. But I also don't wash stuff anymore, I 'dry clean' it. I can't wash my vest either, or itll shrink.
|
I've never ruined a patch by washing it.

I know this has probably been asked alot but what is the best stuff for spray painting an image on a t-shirt? I'm planning on constructing my bands name and logo with duct tape and spray painting the gaps which will in turn make the images come through. Or is there an easier way of doing it ?
