AB/CD 09-12-2005 09:45 AM

ladsh aint posted here in a while (due to the amount of noob posts) heard AC/DC are gonna do a mini UK tour after Christmas this year

Bon_Scottie 09-12-2005 02:34 PM

Oh hell yes, they better do.

Favourite album is If you want blood, but as for they should of retired after Back in Black, hell no, There are many many great Johnson songs that I love to listen to. Three or four off each album, and they all add up.

lightningmetal666 09-12-2005 02:38 PM

I gave Flick of the Switch an unbiased listen and the songs are actually pretty good. I like the bands reasoning behind that album. Their last two albums were all these huge productions and for this album they just went back to their original sound. It was pretty good. They were a lot more stripped down. I think that's really why the album did so bad. They didn't have these huge cannons or a big @$$ bell. Just straight RnR.

Brewer14 09-12-2005 04:30 PM

Oh..that movie was so overrated

Great album that people seem to ignore.

Agreed, and someone trying to use a quote from that movie for a diss is quiet pathetic.

Yeah, kinda like fly on the wall or blow up your video.

Anyone here have the Bonfire set? I like the way the BIB cover looks.
Kinda weird also is that one cd where they have Whole Lotta Rosie, but it has a different name. (I forget what it's original name was)

acdc_problemchild07 09-12-2005 06:38 PM

is AC/DC goin on a tour in the U.S.?

Ulysses 09-13-2005 03:43 AM

Most probably, when this new album comes out...whenever that may be.

Sure your not thinking of 'Beating around the bush'?

lightningmetal666 09-13-2005 04:52 PM

It could be betting around the bush but I was pretty sure they did Whole Lotta Rosie.

I personally don't own the box set but I had a friend that had it (talk about the freakish obsession with AC/DC that guy has) and I got to listen to stuff off of Rocks and Live at Atlantic Studios.

Whole Lotta Rosie is a pretty good song. Especially if you're in to fat chicks. Ewww...............................

BludgeonySteve 09-13-2005 05:28 PM

Whole Lotta Rosie is their best song that i've heard (which is a lot of them). And it's not about fat chicks, it's about large chicks. Big difference... kinda

Ulysses 09-14-2005 12:55 AM

Its about a fat Tasmanian woman that he slept with once, now that is class.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-14-2005 01:04 AM

I borrowed Let There Be Rock off my mate. Here is the thing, I had already had Overdose on mp3, and have heard Exodus' cover of it, but when I go to play Overdose on this CD, it is a different track, and the track listed as Problem Child, sounds like the Overdose that I had on mp3. Help me :(

Ulysses 09-14-2005 01:08 AM

I'm not sure, but the Exodus cover is pretty sweet as is the original of course.

CockeyedMaverik 09-14-2005 08:03 AM

hey can the good people from the AC/DC thread suggest some songs for me?

lightningmetal666 09-14-2005 02:11 PM
hey can the good people from the AC/DC thread suggest some songs for me?
Get the AC/DC live double cd set if you're just starting out. Nothing can compare to their live stuff and the set has all the essential AC/DC songs and the like. Being that no one can upload stuff anymore I can't help you out but if you have a p2p thingy you can check out stuff like hells bells (my fav. song by them) or hell ain't a bad place to be, whole lotta rosie, the jack, thunderstruck, cover of chuck berry's school days, etc. Listen and love 'em.

Ulysses 09-14-2005 07:10 PM

I've said this a number of times, but I think the double live cd set isn't nearly as good in raw powerful sound, electricity and of course vocals as "If You Want Blood...You've Got It", that live record is impeccable. Donwload Riff Raff if you want some solid rock n roll.

Yeah I have both of those and you're right but this guy is kinda new to AC/DC so I was trying to get him into both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras and let him get the full taste of their stuff instead of just Bon-only songs. I think Bon is the better lyricist and personality but Brian is still pretty cool.

bassplayer51291 09-15-2005 07:22 PM

I hate when people say that bands like ac dc and 3 doors down and green day are bad bands why are they so populalar if theyre that bad they sound good and thats all theat matters

I agree i can see why a lot of people don't like brian and only like bon. I started off with Brian and liked him off the back maybe thats why i like his voice so much hearing brian first will let you appreciate his era a little more.

Waht they're saying is the bands don't have much talent.

Im with you. I had gotten Live, Back In Black and Razors Edge before ever hearing Bon sing at all. The reason I like Brian so much(I still prefer Bon) is probably because he was the first I heard. And to the guy talking about 3 Doors Down. When were they popular?

lightningmetal666 09-16-2005 12:49 PM

I like a lot of bon scott songs like Whole Lotta Rosie, Hell Aio't a Bad Place To Be (and of course The Jack 'cuz the lyrics are fcking hilarious), but to this day my favorite song by them will always be hell's bells. It's their darkest and sickest song and the cover of it by Six Feet Under is really really cool.

I also the the intro riff to beating around the bush. If I had the money, I'd get their thick ass guitar book that has like 80 of their songs. I bought one in the past for a friend as a gift, and have been kicking myself for not just keeping it for myself.

I have to agree, bon is better IMO,but ya still gota like the brian stuff.

bassplayer51291 09-16-2005 02:39 PM

bon scott is acdc at its best brian was good but bon is the best

Bon_Scottie 09-16-2005 03:32 PM

Personally had heard Bon before Brian, but love tracks from both singers.

They're singer has to be the biggest load of ****e I've heard, ever.

TyVeRsOn_03 09-17-2005 09:15 AM

It surpirses me that AC/DC cold find a singer that sounds so much like bon.....he was the best and you can tell a difference....but not too much, but either way they had angus....and he was the one who drew all the people in

Audiopond 09-17-2005 10:06 AM

Ty get off the pc.

Grutte Pier 09-17-2005 10:33 AM

Bon Scott couldn't sing at all, what he did just sounded real good. He has an unique voice and that's always an advantage in music. He probably is my favorite singer of all time.

I thought someone would nail me for that. I like Bon Scott, probably the best rock frontmen ever, but I don't think he ever took any singing lessons. Not that that is a bad thing.

Well Never mind. Forget what I typed. Rock on.

Yea,i was wanderin the same thing.

Bon_Scottie 09-17-2005 01:34 PM

His voice is a bag of balls, thats what.

How can you listen to something like that?

I downloaded a few of their 'Graveyard classics'... and the music is great, but... have to turn it off when the singer comes in.

Back onto AC/DC, favourite track at the moment is either Show buisness or Get it hot.
I like Bon Scott, probably the best rock frontmen ever, but I don't think he ever took any singing lessons. Not that that is a bad thing.
I'd say its a good thing. Its not some over produced perfect little rock group. It's straight up rock and roll, and Bons voice and lyrics suit it to perfection.

lightningmetal666 09-17-2005 03:45 PM

I think I'll try to re-learn beating around the bush. I never got past the intro because it was so cool and hard.

What does Bon not having singing lessons add to if it's overproduced or not? BTW, Bon, Angus, and Malcolm wrote the lyrics, not just Bon.

Anyone wanna do any songs for the Jam Session thread, I know pretty much every AC/DC song on guitar (Angus's part), and it would easy to program the drums.
